SO DIsappointing!!! Went to lunch at the Spring Mill Cafe to celebrate 14th of July (Bastille day) and will not return. Always lived this place and even had our entire family here several years ago for dinner for my Moms birthday. She was 97 and I am glad she will never know how sad this place is now. To start with - 4 measly escargot are $13!!! And they are not even in the shells! Dinner price for escargot is $16 and you only get a few more. Who offers less than 6 escargot per order, even at lunch?!?!? Next - the chicken liver pate was grainy and had zero seasoning /flavor! Serving it with 10 skinny slices of bread did not help at all - please serve it with a half a baguette and let me tear the bread if the pate is that poor! And I dont need 2 heaping tablespoons of dijon mustard. The gravlox were blah and serve with spinach leaves (not needed) - could have used some lemon..... Now, on to the entrees.....who serves rack of lmb with only couscous?!?!??? We do not like couscous and requested "anything but couscous " ...we got some roasted potatoes (which they do serve with their omelets anyway. ..), but they charged us $3 for those potatoes when the bill came and had not told us prior to charging!!!! I can buy a whole bag of potatoes for less than $3 and these were not even worth paying for. We ate only 1-2 pieces of those potatoes, since my rabbit also came with potatoes. If I had known they were charging us extra I would have taken the potatoes home to heat someday for breakfast ! The service was excellent, but the food and menu were a TOTAL letdown, bummer, pathetic experience. We did not even look at dessert and just wanted to leave. The lamb was $25 for six rib chops and NOTHING else (since the potatoes were extra)!!! The rabbit was ok, but did not need the potatoes (more potatoes) swimming in the sauce.... If we had known they charge extra for potatoes with the lamb, we would have just accepted the hat ed couscous and not eaten it....which is what ended up happening anyway since we did not eat the potatoes. AND there was no rosemary on the potatoes or the lamb......just some parsley sprinkled. ....what a waste of good lamb! Note to restaurants - if you are going to charge extra to change your ego - centric vegetable choice at customer request, you should warn them..... Will not return to the Spring Mill Cafe. Just keep feeding those construction workers...SO Bummed ou!

My boyfriend and I (mid-twenties) decided to try out this seemingly charming place one night and found the service to be awful. The young man actually waiting on us was fantastic and the hostess was great however, the manager was extremely rude. We walked in and sat at a lovely table next to the window. Soon after the manager greeted us and opened our bottle of wine. Then another couple came in and THEY were offered the coat check. We thought little of this until we then noticed that everyone around us (older than their mid twenties) was getting great service! No one read us the specials, so we went without and were basically ignored by the manager the rest of the night as we watched him lingering at all of the other tables. We then had to bear wtiness to him correcting his staff because a pinecone was three inches away from where it was supposed to be set at a freshly made up table. It really bummed us out and I would suggest only going to this place if you are 30+ because apparently that is age group whose money actually means anything according to this manager. The food was neat in theory but sort of bland.

I recently had my wedding reception at Spring Mill Cafe and it was perfect. The restaurant is normally closed on Mondays, but was opened for us and our very intimate party of 20. The manager/owner worked closely with me to create a great menu, at a very good price. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the choices they have. All of our guests absolutely loved the food (I tried all our hors doeuvers, appetizers and entrees, which were all amazing) and the atmosphere. We were delighted to learn from our lovely waitress that the building used to be a post office and then a general store; a lot of the features have been preserved, giving the restaurant such a unique characteristic! We also love the fact that even though the restaurant is very close to the city, the surrounding makes you feel like you are in the countryside with beautiful trees and windy roads. Im so glad we chose Spring Mill Cafe for our big day and I cant wait to come back for a nice meal!!

This is a real gem of a place. The food is always outstanding and I love how the chefs frequently use local, seasonal produce. Ive been going there for 3 years and Ive never had scallops better anywhere else. Im also a huge fan of the daily fish preparation - served with some kind of mouth watering risotto or lentil pilaf, seasonal veggies and finished with a drizzle of expertly prepared beurre blanc. And since its a BYO - its a great choice for all kinds of occasions. Im going there for brunch with my girlfriends soon - cant wait to sit out by the garden sipping champagne and indulging in their amazing homemade brioche - or should I get the steak and eggs? Or maybe one of their heavenly omelets. If the gazpacho is the soup of the day, Ill definitely start with that.... and the clafoutis for dessert! OMG its heaven in a warm ramekin...

Went here for lunch. I had an open faced Croque Monsier sandwich. It was excellent. The olive tapenade on my sandwich was good and so was the mustard. My wife had the rabbit and she liked it, she believes it was a leg and thigh of a rabbit. We had the cheese plate for our appetizer. I also had their chocolate mousse for desert. Nice cozy restaurant with good food and outdoor seating in season. You almost dont know you are in Conshocken, it is farely quiet. Excellent French food in-so-far as our selections permitted us to sample their selection. Service was excellent.

I was taking my mom out to lunch for her birthday and wanted to find some place that had great food and was quite so that we could talk. I had been to The Spring Mill Cafe before for dinner but never for lunch. I seen that they had a new lunch menu and was excited to try it. The service was great and the portions were just right for us to indulge a little. The waitress even made sure to put a candle in the chocolate mousse for my mom.The Spring Mill Cafe is one of those little known places that once you have been there you will always want to come back to.

I dont know how its possible that the last few reviews on here for Spring Mill Cafe have been utterly harsh. My boyfriend and I have been searching for a wedding dinner venue for little over a week and we were so lucky so come upon this place. I wouldnt have though, if I had trusted these horrible views I read before going. We went for dinner, had a wonderful time. We had the rabbit and the Moroccan chicken and daffodil cake. Both courses were so amazing theyve become a part of our wedding menu.
