WOW!! What a place. We found this off the Yelp app after walking up and down South St running into the same places over and over but with different names. This place is "tucked" away just south of South St on 7th. Walk right into this great little bar which seats about 10 people but hooks are a plenty. Hostess greets right away but we sat @ the bar since we had no reservations. Thats when our experience took off! Our server/bartender Charles greeted us like we were old friends. He took his time, mind you this was dinner time on Saturday in Philly, explaining the menu and giving his recommendations. Menu was fresh and simple as were the specials. When my girlfriend couldnt decide on a drink he asked her what types of drinks she likes and he came back with the most incredibly spot on cocktail. She had another and he repeated the perfection. The food; outstanding!! I had arugula and endive salad with a burger and she had escargot and tuna tartar. She enjoyed it all, best she has had. I was much the same. I have to say it was one of the best all around food experiences I have had in Philly. The experience from the time we opened the door to the time we walked out was amazing. We will be back there and please do yourself a favor, go check this place out.

Cozy, quaint spot, excellent customer service! Duck of the day was incredible! Arguably the best Duck Ive ever eaten. Absolutely no "gamey" taste, all flavor. The mushroom and shaved root vegetable selection was perfect. Not overpowering the mild flavor of duck. Drinks are bomb! The "Penicillin" earned its name honestly. It just makes you feel...alright! LIMITED seating. Make a reservation but so glad I had opportunity to experience while in town. Definitely a spot NOT TO MISS on your travels through the city!

It was overpriced and pretentious, but the food and drinks were great. I probably wont return because of the prices. The French radishes were literally served on a plate of butter. They were just whole and raw. The service was attentive but a bit sloppy at the bar. The bartender spilled water while pouring for me twice. I would rather go to Tria for small bites and wine, or Vedge for an upscale cocktail at happy hour.

Cool little spot off South Street with excellent food, wines, beer, and cocktails. Most of the drinks were uncommon which makes it nice to try new things. I was particularly excited to find Orange wine. 2 of 3 dinners were fantastic with the duck and steak cooked to perfection. My pork shoulder was dry and needed a sauce. The building is a little old and quaint, but the air conditioner wasnt quite so cool.

A perfect date night spot or somewhere to go for nicer food and drinks with a somewhat casual vibe. The steak frites was deliciously simple and done to perfection. The red endive salad was creative and full of wonderful flavors. Great cocktails. Solid service. Beer prices were a bit high, wine pours are somewhat small, and the music was a bit loud at times.

I went to the Good King Tavern for brunch. The french food was excellent. I enjoyed their bahn mi sandwich and a kir royal. My girlfriend got the lobster omelette. We shared a dessert sampler plate. I thought the booths were very comfortable and I would like to return here again for food in the future.

My favorite bar in Philly and probably my favorite restaurant too. Family owned bistrot with the best bartenders in the city, and the coziest and most legit atmosphere. This is the kind of place you dont want to give a good review to because itll just make it harder to get a spot at the bar.

We went here on a whim and were super impressed. Cozy atmosphere, knowledgable and friendly staff, and great wine! Were totally wine snobs and the bartender did an incredible job of wowing us with some choice picks not to mention her awesome service. Well definetly go back soon and often!

We stumbled upon this place while in search of a quiet drink after checking in at our Airbnb nearby. The staff, food and drinks were so great and the atmosphere was so comfortable, we ended up going back here each evening of our 3-night stay in Philly. This place knows how to do it right.
