This is the best restaurant in Norfolk. There is no aspect of the food presented that is anything less than amazing. Drinks - They dont have a huge drink menu, but you dont need anything beyond what they serve. The wine list is carefully curated and rotated to go with what is currently on the menu. The beers are local and delicious. The cocktails are a mixture of well done classics and house cocktails that you never knew you needed. Every time I am there I find a new favorite drink. Highlights include the Basil Smash and whatever seasonal gin drink they have come up with. Appetizers - Everything is great. Personal favorites include the pork belly (locally sourced, amazing thick pork belly served with strawberries), moules frites (a French classic that they serve spot on with amazing homemade fries and aioli), and the kinilaw (Rina branches out here and serves a Filipino ceviche that will ruin all other ceviches for you). Main Courses - I have never had anything here that didnt result in me sitting and counting my blessings. The really amazing thing about Nouvelle is that this is true, authentic French food made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Anywhere else they would be charging at least $10 more a plate for the quality of this food than you pay here. The menu changes seasonally and there are also nightly and weekly specials depending on what fresh ingredients looked great that day. Personal favorites include the pork chop au poivre (a twist on the traditional steak au poivre. You have never had a pork chop this good.), the 50/50 burger (in a town with a lot of great burgers, youre hard pressed to find one better than this), and the duck confit (classic and perfect). Dessert - No matter how full you are you cannot leave without dessert. Their signature bread pudding is the best one I have had in my entire life - and I am a lover of bread pudding. Luke will also have various different versions of creme brûlée or pot du creme depending on the day. Bottom line - if you havent been here, get here. Sit at the bar and watch Rina cook and Luke mix cocktails. Chat with the always laughing and affable staff. You will never be sorry.

We were surprised when we pulled up to Nouvelle, as we were expecting more of a higher-end restaurant, as opposed to a diner. We ended being seated at a high-top table right by the kitchen/bar. Décor was quirky, with little random plants being scattered everywhere. The cocktails were amazing. Of note is the smoked old fashioned, which probably I can count as one of the best old fashioneds I have ever had. We started out with the seared scallops, which were tender and toothsome. For our entrees, we had the steak frites and the chicken Provencal, both excellent. Out finisher was the caramel bread pudding, which came out as sort of a pan-fried cake slice topped with the caramel sauce...amazing!!!! The detraction from the experience was that the wait staff was too busy chattering amongst themselves to acknowledge our departure. That left a sour note in our mouths for what was otherwise a pleasant visit.

We drove all the way from Alaska to eat here. No seriously. And we were NOT disappointed. I had the 50/50 lamb and beef burger loaded with grilled onions, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon. The onions were grilled just right and tasted Lindas sweet, the burger was well cooked, but not dry. All meat was juicy and well seasoned. The burger was full of flavor, and complimented by home made fries and an cold canned coke. Everyone was in great spirits and made my wife, and two year old feel really at home. Wish there were more privately owned place like that still.

It is the very first time in Virginia and eating French food. When you see the restaurant it looks like a lil dive. But when you go in, the staff are very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and filling. When we finish our meal we met the chef and owner to thank us for selecting their restaurant. Love this place. Whenever I return to Virginia I will definitely revisit

One of my favorite restaurants in Hampton Roads. The place doesnt look like much at first glance, but the food is way fancier and delicious than you would expect. The drinks are on point too. I recommend the 50/50 burger (half lamb, half beef) or the pork chop that is covered in a peppery gravy. Dont miss the bread pudding for dessert, either! Its divine.

This may be a little unorthodox, but Im just reviewing Rinas dishes. Rina is an amazingly talented Chef who always finds a way to make me want to try new foods, and she does the same in Nouvelle. Prime example: I dont like lamb, but Rinas half lamb and half beef meatloaf is spot on, and dont even get me started on her secret formula catsup on top...

Went to Norfolk on a Saturday afternoon and decided to try something new. Found this quaint little restaurant and immediately was enthralled by the atmosphere. They cook your meal right in front of you; which I love. The people are amazing. And the menu has something for everyone. Will definitely be making a trip back in the near future.

I ate here with friends during a conference. The five of us had 2 orders of the potato chip crusted crab cakes ($30 each), stuffed flounder ($32), fresh fish of the day which was grouper ($28) and cashew crusted mahi mahi (dont recall). We also ordered the she crab soup and a couple of drinks. The food was good but a bit overpriced.

This is a wonderful place to eat. Service is awesome. The portion sizes are HUGE. I ordered a vegan dish with mashed potatoes on the side. I ate the entire thing. Ive never had mashed potatoes and gravy where you can taste the smoked bacon but no meat was in it! ABSOLUTELY the best ones Ive ever had. We will be going back very soon.

“Amazing meal in a food desert!” We were in town for a wedding and were on our own for food one of the days. Wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant, and decided to give it a shot since it was so close to our hotel. We were greeted with amazingly friendly staff and had such a fantastic meal that we may even try to go...

We went for lunch at this hidden gem of a restaurant and had the Old Bay Flounder & Avocado Wrap and the Burger Royale. And, as if that were not enough, we polished off a Butterscotch & Caramel Bread Pudding. All of it to die for... we will be back, and back, and back again. :) I am glad I work within walking distance!

Amazing food and service. I absolutely loved the ceviche. The pork belly was also very good as well as the mixed drinks. I loved the duck confit as well but I think I would have opted for the chicken in hindsight since I had a bite of my fiancés. The bread pudding was the perfect end to an amazing meal!

I came Saturday and got the burger with a dollar beer and wow. I was figuratively blown away. Amazing portions, excellent cooked bacon, perfectly salted fries, and great service. Watching the staff cook, I was very impressed. Oh, and the food came put blazing hot. AH-mazing...

This place is exceptional. Amazing. Period. You should go. I stopped in for lunch on a whim ended up chatting with the chefs/ co-owners over my meal at the bar. Came back the next week for their six course Valentines Day offering and was beyond impressed. Great work!
