My family and I just took our semi annual fall trip to Virginia wine country and decided to stay at Wayside. We were not disappointed. The Innkeepers were wonderful and they are doing a lot to preserve the history while providing modern comfort. There is still a lot of work on the building to be done but they are doing a great job and are responsive to your needs. The country breakfast is amazing and I loved the pumpkin pancakes. Each breakfast is made to order and perfect. They dont skimp on portions either. The wait staff was great as well. The atmosphere is laid back and helps you relax. It is not a get in, get out, kind of place but a place where you can enjoy your meal and leisurely talk with your guests. We also stayed for lunch and it was the best peanut soup and chicken pot pie I ever had. Our family is planning a return trip to this treasure in the spring.

This place was the worst I have ever seen. Downstairs looked ok when we checked in though this does not look anything like the pictures! On our way to the room I noticed the building was slanted. So slanted that I would have fallen out of the bed if we had stayed! Old, run down. There is a difference between old in age and old rundown! The bathroom creaked and was at a severe slant; the garbage can was about 15 years old with crud growing up the side, tiles were missing from the floor. The bed was at a wicked slant, there was a large buckle in the rug which might have concealed a crack. To say we were freaked out by the deplorable conditions is putting it mildly. 5 minutes later we were back at the front desk saying we were not staying there, no way, no how. The photos are so deceiving.

We stayed in the Old Dominion room which is large and comfortable. It had its own sitting room with two chairs and a sofa where you can watch tv or just lounge around. It definitely has history that goes back hundreds of years. The whole place had an old world charm and antiques galore. There were fireplaces in just about every room that invited you to kick off your shoes and relax. For those not faint of heart, ask about the hauntings!! We ate in the tavern part of the inn and found the service to be outstanding and the food good. There is a dining room that we will try the next time we go to Wayside Inn. After dinner we headed to the bar where the water well and copper bar are the focal points. Breakfast was exceptional!! Would definitely recommend this place to all!

I stayed at the Wayside Inn 8/17/2017 on my way back to NJ after purchasing and riding a new BMW motorcycle back from Greensboro NC. The owners, Becky and George, went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, comfortable and allow me to park my motorcycle in a secure location which was important to me and my nights rest. They had a mini music festival going on the night I arrived and was able to enjoy some barbecue and live music. In the morning they were able to accommodate my early departure with coffee and juice, a hearty breakfast, and I had lovely sit down chat with owner Becky at my table. I really couldnt have asked for a better stop on the road plus love older homes and surroundings. Perfect.

This is an amazingly unique place to visit and a key part of the history of the Shenandoah valley. Each room has different furniture and decorations, and many seem inspired by their location in the building. Older and newer wings flow together to create a feeling of walking through history as you walk around the inn. The owners keep the doors of unoccupied rooms open so you can tour at your own pace. The rooms are generally clean and well-appointed, although some furniture was showing signs of wear. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful and the included breakfast was delicious! I would definitely recommend the Wayside Inn to anyone looking for a unique hotel who doesnt mind a few quirks.

We arrived at the Wayside Inn at about 9:00pm after a long drive from Barrie, ON. As soon as we walked through the door it was so inviting, especially with the warmth of the fires. The staff was very friendly, and Jodie showed us to our room, #16, and around the Inn. We wish we had more time to just sit by the fire and enjoy the ambiance. As antique lovers, we were so impressed with the decor and furnishings! We all had a great sleep, the Inn was so quiet and peaceful. In the morning George and Jack served us an incredible home cooked breakfast which was delicious! We were sorry we could not stay longer, but we cant wait to return! Thank you George, Becky and staff!

The Wayside Inn was an awesome experience all around. The owners, guests and regulars were all super friendly, helpful and informative. If youre into "Paranormal Investigating" its an excellent place to go. I had to leave early so unfortunately I cant comment on the food. The beds were a little short, at 58" my feet were hanging off the end. The shower head was a little older, but dont take this as a complaint, I forgot how nice it is to take a shower with high water pressure (no low flow Eco junk). I could write about it all day, but it would be easier to just state that Im already planning my next trip and I plan on staying longer next time.

The Wayside Inn is a beautiful place to stay overnight. Theres a tavern connected which makes for a convenient transition from dinner into after dinner chat, and the rooms themselves are quaint and classically historic. If you are a history nerd, youll love it here. The inn owners are so friendly and helpful, and are willing & able to help you with anything you need. They claim its haunted, so if youre into that, all the better. And if youre not, lets be honest, there arent any ghosts. Would highly recommend this place as a place to crash when visiting the Front Royal area.

We booked two nights in the most expensive room in the Wayside Inn. My breakfast took nearly an hour to come out and it was wrong. The previous couple was told their eggs were burnt because the cook and the waitress "got to talking" and lost track of time. At dinner we were told after waiting two hours that they werent sure when our food was coming so we could leave if we wanted to. We ended up eating McDonalds for Valentines Day. During the day I was trying to relax but was woken up twice by staff at very random times. It was the worst experience Ive had at a hotel.

Stayed here on a whim, a what a wonderful decision that was! The owners George and Becky, as well as their staff are awesome. You feel right at home, and the property itself is incredibly charming. They were absolutely welcoming to my 2-year old lab mix (who likewise enjoyed her stay!) Breakfast was delicious and the bar and karaoke the night before was a nice way to settle down for the evening and relax. I will be going back!
