The Good: Lots of easy parking, friendly staff, we didnt have to wait to sit down on a Friday night. The food was absolutely delicious - contender for the best Indian food Ive ever had. The staff was exceptionally quick and attentive on refilling water. When there was a mistake (mentioned below), they were quick to correct it without any fuss. The Bad: After ordering, we waited over 30 minutes for our appetizer to come out. We also ordered Goat Cheese Naan with our entrees and they gave us Garlic Naan by mistake. I ordered my meal "very spicy" which was the spiciest of the options given by the waitress, but I would call what I got more like a touch above Medium. Overall, I gave 4/5 stars because of the couple of negative things, but I will definitely be going back. My wife and I both thought it was some of the best Indian food weve ever had, and the price is reasonable. The wait staff was attentive, polite, and very friendly. Next time I go Ill stress that I want much more spicy than what they consider "very spicy".

I was hoping this would be THE Indian place to go in the neighborhood, but nope, the wait continues. Just like many Indian buffets, Masala gives the impression that they are trying to make the food so spicy that it will deter second and more helpings. Everything is vindaloo hot, and overly salty. The combination is such that you cant taste much difference between different dishes because the mouth seizes up and goes numb. I wonder if their evening menu food suffers from the same problem. What I like about Indian cuisine is precisely what I did not get here. Spice blends take a characteristic taste of their own if mixed judiciously to strike a balance, so no particular spice predominates, and the result is a taste "bigger" than the sum of its parts. Otherwise the restaurant is ok, but the food was a turn-off.

Disclaimer: vegetarian review This restaurant is operated by a Nepali cook who is attempting to cook North Indian cuisine. Unfortunately his efforts are not very successful and the lack of expertise and authenticity become the central theme of your experience. We ordered dal Bukhara, which although turned out to be like extremely simple black dal was tasty, baingan bharta which was a completely mediocre and the paneer makhani was something totally different in flavor with too much sugar. The mango lassi was good. While the food didnt really hold up, the staff is friendly and the restaurant itself is nice. When it comes to the rotis... The naan and tandoori roti felt like reheated frozen Deep products. They were not puffed or crunchy and lacked that typical naan texture. The pudina parantha was passable.

I had really bad experience. The food is not at all Indian. I ordered hara bhara kabab which was really bland in taste and totally opposite of what you get in India. Chef needs to go back and learn For the main course I ordered kadhai paneer and it was really on fire. I think they had lots of red chilli powder in their kitchen and chef was also generous with that. I am habitual to spicy food but the curry was way overloaded with red chilly powder. Please avoid the place they dont what they are doing.

My Indian coworker said this place is not authentic Indian food BUT my friends and I love all the food here. We got both curry and grill. My bf just loves the butter chicken at this place, very creamy and chicken is tender. We reserved a table because we had a bigger group, the restaurant was pretty full on the Friday night we went. Service was awesome, everyone was friendly. Be sure to get a Taj Mahal beer to go with your curry. :)

The food quality is to the par!! The entire team is very helpful and professional. They go above and beyond to provide a great service. I have had their food several times and never once was disappointed. Though its a fine dine Indian restaurant but dont be surprised if you try some of their signature cocktails!!! They are some of the best around town!! Go check it out for yourself !! 100% Recommended!! Good luck Masala Team!!

I have been to this restaurant once but I was was very impressed with the authenticity of their food - North Indian food - Nepali food, to be specific. I tried their Momo (dumplings - an epitome of Himalayan food and by far the most popular food among Nepalese diaspora) and it took my breath away. They have arguably the best authentic Nepalese and North Indian food in their menu. Hands down five stars!

One of the worst delivery services ever. This is the only restaurant I have ever ordered food from which gave me the same lame excuse 3 times in 2 weeks- "car broke down". Whats worse is the guy picking up the call at the restaurant does not even have the decency to confirm if he is gonna deliver the food after he has already charged my credit card. Oh yeah, food is just decent, not great.

Outstanding! Excellent service that checked in regularly, but did not pester. Great food that exceeded expectations. Prices were very reasonable. Portions were plentiful. The atmosphere was pleasant and very well kept. The service pieces were classy. No down side at all. This is my new favorite place to eat in Mclean.

This spot has seen several decent restaurants come and go. Hope this place stays around. The staff asked about the spiciness level we wanted, gave good recommendations, and checked back several times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The prices and portions were good.

Very pleased so far with Masala. This is a very skilled kitchen with Indian and Nepalese cooking, and the restaurant strikes a near perfect balance of sophisticated yet casual dining, friendly atmosphere, and accessible food.

Delicious, cheap lunch buffet. Several vegetarian/vegan options available. Certainly worth checking out if you are in the McLean / village area. Will be coming back again!
