Youll notice from the decor that this is a local place: there are literally hundreds of photos featuring patrons of the diner going back several years. On a Saturday or Sunday, youll probably have to wait, but usually the service is speedy. Youll have the option of sitting at the counter or at a table and served by a friendly waitress whos probably over 50 and has worked here for five years, minimum. The physical decor is dated, but contributes to the homey feel. The menu is expansive, and features combinations named after patrons. Everything is good, though theres only so much you can do with eggs and bacon. Unless thats your thing, try something a little more unique, such as the hash (tasty), country-fried steak (melt-in-your-mouth), cream chipped beef (classic), or cinnamon-puff french toast (with strawberries!). The juice is fresh squeezed and the entire menu is fairly priced. Its where I take guests, and have always had a good experience.

How this place has such a high rating is beyong me. This place was among the most horendous culinary experiences Ive had the misfortune of having. I went there for brunch with my girlfriend who ordered eggs benedict. they served her fried eggs on top of an english muffin and absolutely drenched the entire plate in hollondaise sauce. Their potatos seemed boiled and then barely pan fried. They were soggy and probably the worst attempy at breakfast potatoes ive ever had. The service was also terrible. When we paid, we were asked if everything was okay with the meal. We explained the problem, but they didnt even apologize. tl;dr Ordered eggs benedict, but they served fried eggs instead of poached. Service was terrible.

Checked this place out on a Sunday morning - it was extremely crowded. But, despite the mass of people waiting, we actually didnt have to wait too long. The staff seems to be quite efficient. Everyone was also very friendly, which is impressive considering how rushed/busy they were. As for the food...its awesome. Mostly standard breakfast stuff here, with one noteworthy exception. CINNAMON ROLL FRENCH TOAST. Ive never had anything like it, and its absolutely incredible. As soon as we left, I wanted more. The only downside is that it is not a regular part of the menu (a daily special, maybe every Sunday?). Needless to say, we will definitely be back.

My wife heard about this place from the lady that was giving her a message. We went about 12:30p.m. on Sunday. I had the kielbasa platter and my wife had a scramble egg with the homemade biscuit. We shared the pumpkin french toast. I cant say enough about how good the food is at this place. The service was excellent and friendly. They really make you feel at home. The portions are large for the money. This place is a great value for the money and the food is worth the drive from Woodbridge, VA to Herndon, VA (which is about an hours drive).

The reason to go to Virginia Kitchen isnt the decor (though theyre in the process of remodeling) or the service (which is okay and friendly, but not awesome)... its the food. This morning I had the best waffle Ive had in years. It had a slightly malty flavor that was incredible. The eggs were perfect and the fresh squeezed orange juice really tasted like they just squeezed an orange right into my glass. If youre a fan of greasy breakfast food, this place is top notch.

I sat at the counter and had the grilled Reuben sandwich with straight fries and a slice of coconut cream pie. The food was excellent! Service was great as well! Decor was bland, but that is minor. Best part about the place is that there is no distracting TVs anywhere. Seems like anywhere else you go nowadays is surrounded with TVs on the wall showing you phony cable "news" and distracting you from your dining companions. Well, not here, and its nice.

This has been a regular breakfast stop for our family for more than ten years. Its family run and family friendly with good food at very reasonable prices. Its a rare Saturday or Sunday morning that I will not hear my kids say "lets go to Virginia Kitchen!" Weve spread the word to help create additional family regulars and look forward to enjoying our time there for years to come. My only wish is that they were a bit closer:)

Went here for dinner and breakfast the next day. NICE staff really nice people. So accomindating to us. Greeaaatt food and nice outside seating. They were renovating when we were there but you almost dont notice. Its on the main road but its surprisingly quiet and very nice. Nice clean public bathrooms. Great coffee and french toast with berries and bananas is amazing. Would definitly go back here if ever in virginia again

Weve been going to the Waffle King (aka the Virginia Kitchen) for over 26 years and the only things that have changed are some of the wait staff have retired and the kids have taken over operating the restaurant from mom and dad. What can better attest to the appeal of a place than longevity and consistency from food to service. Dont look for fancy takes on proven standards. Just the proven standards done right.

This place does get very busy on the weekends. Lot of regulars. Low staff turnover, and family run. Many breakfast combo items are named after staff. They have pictures of regular customers on the menu. My only complaint is the lack of attention to the restrooms. Often dirty restrooms and towels and soap in short supply, such a turn-off that my wife does not like going anymore. Try the Belgian Waffles.

We used to like coming here. Couple of years ago Id say this place was in our weekly brunch rotation. Maybe Im remembering it being better than it was, maybe my standards have gone up since then. The food is so gross now. The floor is so dirty (bits of trash everywhere, even in the workers area). Its not worth the price. We should have just paid more to go to a restaurant in Reston Town Center.

Waited in a long line thinking it was going to great since it was so popular. Food was all chewy (and not in a good way)- waffles, bacon, everything was tough. My son loves any kind of hasbrown and he barely touched them. Not sure what all the hype was about. Hostess was very grumpy too...maybe it was just a bad day?

The owner was very warm and welcoming. he greeted us at the door and made sure we were seated comfortably before moving on to the next customers. there is a line waiting to be seated. as the previous reviews stated, the food wasnt the greatest but the staff reception was more than enough to make anyone come back.

Meh. It was okay. Hashbrowns tasted frozen. In my opinion, their "famous" waffles were below standard. I liked the coffee, but once food was served I never saw my server again. I thought Id at least have better service sitting at the bar, which was not the case. Next time I will go to Amphora.

This place has been around longer than I have, and has been family owned and operated the whole time. There is always a wait, and beverages seem oddly pricy, but the food is good. For some reason breakfast places seem few and far between in this area, so this is worth checking out.
