Know what youre in for. You are NOT getting diner fare, youre getting fussy food thats pitched to the trendy crowd that thinks theyre above the simple. Your friend Cindy? The one who isnt gluten intolerant but is doing the gluten free diet and who cant stop talking about it? And her insufferable husband Charles who cant survive unless what hes eating has quinoa in it? Theyre at home here. Silver Diner has recently added several dishes that are normal for "the rest of us" that want, say, a barbecue burger and arent interested in a low-fat vegetarian yolk free omelette with edamame beans that were given psychotherapy. There are some things you just cant get. A reuben, a tuna sandwich, that kind of thing. And you have to have a DC lobbyist working for you to get things cooked how you want them. Theyre not afraid to tell you that they have zero intention of cooking your home fries crispy or your eggs over easy. Its just not gonna happen. I take one star off for not having certain dishes at all, but refusing to cook my food how Id like it? Two more stars off. And now I look at that two star rating Ive given and the more I think about it, the more I think its perfectly appropriate. The four and five star raters are rating based on their starry-eyed wonder of a "diner" that serves "healthy" food, but do they actually want to eat it? Or are they just impressed by it? Yeah, it IS nice to be able to bring my out-of-town niece (who really DOES have a celiac issue) but lets get ahold of ourselves here. This place is merely okay, and when you want a dish prepared a certain way and are refused, youll only be annoyed, and the garnish on your dish (pollinated by imported organic bees that were raised in a loving hive) wont make up for that.

Pokémon GO players: There is a Pokéstop for the Silver Diner entrance pinned at the entrance - there is some seating outside, but if you want to eat and youre seated in the front, youll probably be able to dine and stock up on pokéballs at the same time. There always seems to be a lure on it on Lunch, Dinner, and in the evening/night. Personally, I wasnt WOWed by the food... but it still made a good meal and I was definitely satisfied. I also like the food philosophy going on with locally sourced food. The atmosphere is great too - if youre older itll have a nice nostalgic feel & if youre younger the retro vibe is cool and clean. Be prepared for a long wait if you come during peak hours. It is a super popular location with the locals. I came here with my family while they were in town. Our server seemed to be a bit overworked and out of sync with the kitchen, which meant that we got our actual meal before our salads. My parents were upset about this, but overall is really wasnt a big deal and I could tell this wasnt the norm since the place was packed and the employee was likely new. Regardless, the manager still apologised to us and gave us vouchers for 2 free appetizers! Overall great service and attentive staff, and I will definitely visit in the future.

What amazing service and friendly employees. This was our first visit here and it was such an amazing experience, burgers are one of the best burgers weve had. The manager Eze was just an absolute great person, normally you have managers just around or in the kitchen but this man was working the floor, speaking to guest, deliver food to tables, helping in the kitchen, bussing tables and over all making sure his works and guest are taken care of. I have been to many restaurants from diners to 4 or 5 star places and never seen a manager who enjoys what he does. Definitely recommend this amazing diner with great employees to anyone who wants to enjoy a great service. Also, my kids enjoyed the kids menus and the fresh fruit they got with their meals.

Our waiter was rude. There were 6 of us and three of us got our order wrong. I asked for an egg on my burger but didnt get one. So he went back and literally brought out a barley cooked, runny egg on a plate. They had signs that said they give us 10 percent off our current order if they got it wrong. Three orders were wrong but we got nothing off, and he came over with the check, basically threw it on the table and said "Here." Portions were small, and prices high. I was given a huge plate with a small burger on it and some fries. A least use a smaller plate if you are going to give us small portions to make it look like we are getting what we paid for. We were visiting out of town. If we ever go back we will avoid this place.

Lieu adapté pour les dîners en famille. Il y a un juke box a chaque table et chacun, pour 25 cents, peut choisir la musique de son choix parmi un catalogue très varié. Le service est rapide. Le restaurant a fait le choix dune carte healthy (pas de friture, menus enfants avec des fruits. ...). Service rapide. Le milk égale à la vanille est un must.

This is usually good, however the server sank their battleship. The food was good. The place was clean. Our server, Miguel, was not attentive. He did not check on us; not even ONE time and we did have a request in order to complete our experience but since he never came back until it was time to bring the check, we were left unfulfilled. We did hail down another server but she kind of delivered the requested jelly to the wrong table and realized it later. That was too late. Gretchen, the manager, did what she could to try to make up for it so between the food quality and Gretchens efforts, thats the reason for 3 stars as opposed to 1.

I called ahead to place an order and was put on hold. I finished driving there and walked into the store before I hung up and was never able to place my order by phone. I did it in person! I simply ordered an extra thick milkshake. After waiting for 10 minutes for it, I received it and it was the consistency of chocolate milk! I was already in my car driving away when I realize that or I wouldve returned it. This has happened to me on several occasions at the Rockville location. The Fair Oaks Virginia location gets it right every time! Yay Fairoaks Silver Diner!! Someone needs to teach the folks and Rockville had to make a milkshake!

Im an out-of-Stater who comes to Bethesda perhaps 4-7 a year for an overnight visit and Jane been doing so for 15-20 years. If I have time for breakfast I come here. But I caution readers I am a creature of habit - when I find rthersomething I really like thats all I order and dont bother to experience with other items on the menu. In this case the bison huev... rancheros (sp?). On each occasion I have found the wait staff very friendly and competent. Today, Mothers Day, was extremely busy, naturally. I mentioned I was only one and was seated promptly. I further very much appreciate the Silver Diner supporting The Childrens Inn at NIH.

The service here is amazing (except for one incident explained below), the food is spectacular, the wait is never longer than 15 minutes even though it looks like itll be longer. Wow, so many great things to say! Not too expensive and totally worth it. I wpuld recommend this to everyone I know!! Ive gone around 5 times, and there was only one time where our waiter didnt put my order for an appetizer in so we never got it and when I told her to cancel it she said thank you to me for canceling it, Im assuming because she was scared she was going to get in trouble? The management is VERY helpful and they deserve ten stars!!!
