Front Royal, What comes to mind? Maybe a small bedroom town, with commuting distance to D.C.. Perhapes you think of cooking from the south. If you live semi-local you may know of the wine festivale. Wine, where to begin; a festive to comemorate the love of wine. Thats a good of place to start as any. While I was in Front Royal on a semi-vaction I was recommended to go to the Wine and Duck. By recommened I mean that I was "told" ("you need to go to...") [Spelunkers] [The Wine and Duck]. I was in the mood for a burger. Good old ground beef with fries. Since I was staying at the Super 8 I went to Spelunkers first. It was a good burger-- not great. Though this is a biased comment, because I went to The Wine and Duck the next day. Ive heard of this $100 dollar burger in N.Y.C., and I bet it is great; Ive never had it. I did have a burger at The Wine and Duck... People say "Its as good as sex" as a metaphore. Maam/Sir it almost was. I asked the owner/chef how did he do this? Turns out he hand grinds his burger-- hand grinds! "What is it you hand grind?". "Rib-eye fat and tenderloin chain." My God man; in case you cant tell Im a foodie. It had Cashel bleu over this perfect medium-rare burger. So we, stayed my wife and I, a little to long. We ponyed up to the bar. The ower and us talked for hours. Taboos were broken. Politics were discussed. We ended up agreeing to disagree at the end of the night. He called us a cab and sent us on our way. It was one of one of funnist nights Ive had in a long time. I recommend everyone to come to The Wine and Duck. It is worth the drive if your a weekend sleeperinr like I want to be.

Disappointing. Every table was full at 8pm on a Sat, that being said there are 7-8 and half are 2 tops. Asked for a glass for my beer, never got it. Asked about a winter style craft beer on the menu hoping it was a misprint as its June and the release for it was last Aug-oct, it wasnt. Soup was cold, had to send it back, also way too salty. Ran out of soup only had enough for 2, no one mentioned it until we asked where the 3rd one was. Only had 2 duck dishes on the menu, a salad and entrée. Way too hot in there, we were sweating while eating. Server was more concerned with cleaning tables than keeping drinks full. Ordered wings that were marginal at best, there were a lot but they were extremely small and just coated in Franks. Side note on the wings, the were a special order for a disabled member of our party which was nice for them to do although they only had one order. Pasta dish was also served lukewarm. Kitchen is open and d-a-r-k, i dont know how you can properly wash dishes or cook with next to no light. Took over 2 hours to have a meal. Now the good. Fried chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. Bread and butter was good.

Front Royal is a small town in Virginia which seems to be right on the border of civilization and the middle of nowhere. When I first went there my expectations in terms of fine dining were fairly low. The Wine and Duck was a welcome surprise. They offer a wide range of really complex and well cooked dishes with some great wine pairings to boot. Ive been back several times and have yet to get anything that disappointed. Given the name of the place, its probably not surprising that they do a great duck. Highly recommend trying it.

Crazy good. Like unbelievably, unexpectedly good. I got a quesadilla (weird, I know) because the description piqued my curiosity and it was freaking AMAZING. Shrimp, cheddar cheese, paprika, BBQ sauce, and this amazing garlic cream dipping sauce. So, so good. We also got the shrimp appetizer, one friend got duck and one friend got the chicken sandwich. Everything was good. Be prepared for a wait though. It seemed like there was only one chef and we waited a long time for the food. But food was so good, it was worth it.

this is a true gourmet place. dont let the simple words like "sandwich" on their menu to fool you - it is going to be a meal of your lifetime. to give you some heads up on the complexity of the food - just making a soup base for the sandwich dip takes 15 hours. imagine how much care goes to every dish and add to that freshest natural ingredients available. be warned though - after just one dinner at wine&duck eating at any other establishment is going to feel like a second rate experience.

One of our favorite restaurants, my wife and I loved the intimate dining room and appreciated the friendly, helpful service. Although there are only two duck dishes on the menu, they are both amazing. The steak is also very good and the pasta dish is excellent as well. There is sometimes a wait, but a couple of craft beers can fix that!

Fine dining should not be associated with this Restraunt!! We waited 20 minutes for our salad, didnt get our soup until I asked. Server has no comprehension of customers are always right. Further more, the name duck being associated with the name is oblivious because they serve one entree that includes duck!!

Food is good, but both times Ive come here, they are out of 50% of the menu or have limited amounts left. It is very poorly managed. The chefs wear proper clothing and the waitress wears jeans and a button up flannel showing tattoos

The Wine and Duck offers the best burger in Front Royal, as well as a wide selection of reasonably priced beers. If you want to relax and eat amazing food at the same time, the Wine and Duck is your smartest choice.

Excellent food! Good people! Small footprint and maybe a wait for food, but worth it. Always new unique specials to try and an ever evolving beer selection.

Great place located downtown on E Main St. The food is absolutely great! If you like steak cooked in butter get the ribeye with spinach and mushrooms.

Had a fantastic steak that was cooked exactly to the requested temperature. The red russet & truffle infused mashed potatoes were heavenly as well.
