My family went to Todai during the holiday. There were five adults. Mid of our eating, the manager stopped by our table telling my sister that she was wasting food because she did not finish all the sushi rice. My sister was a little bit embarrassed so she told him that she heard him and would not come back in the future to waste his food. The manager not only did not leave our table but also repeated his "concern". My sister finally told him to "go away". It was an expensive place and we wanted to at least finish our meal. He got mad and said that we were rude and he did not want to serve us in the future. What a jerk! If he had had some table manner then none of this would have had happened. He even told me that he owned the place and he had the right to not serve us. What a rude and arrogant guy! After this, the poor young waiter dared not come to our table. We got one water refill for the entire time. I would give the service NO star if I could. I will never go back to it and I am telling all my friends not to go there either. Watch out for the rude ower!

Are used to come here back when this place was called Todai and now it has switched owner and change to sushi on the food is actually better believe it or not the freaking thing that sucks is they promote free meal on your birthday but you have to actually come on your birthday that matches your drivers license and then you will get a certificate for your next visit but you cant come the day before or the day after it has to be the same day which sucks - its going to cost them one star for that! If you have a great craving for seafood Chinese food Japanese food and massive amount of sashimi then its worth the price.I do you recommend this place. You can also order food me to order and they have a good variety of dessert and ice cream as well as shaved ice. Oh sodas do you cost extra so beware.

Listen, youre probably not going to get 5-star service at any buffet place in a mall, so if you expect to get waited on hand and foot...forget about it. Youre coming here for sushi buffet. This isnt mind-blowing, orgasmic sushi...but its on par with most other japanese restaurants in town. The idea here is youre paying $25-35 dollars (depending on the time of day) and you can eat the equivalent of $100 worth of sushi at any other place, easy. Their hot bar is standard fare, but good if you want to mix it up....but honestly, you can get this stuff from any chinese buffet. Stick to the nigiri and fancy rolls and youll get your moneys worth extremely quickly. Top your sushi off with a bottle of hot sake or a tall bottle of Sapporo and now youve just had the best meal at Fair Oaks.

Is this a premium buffet or just cheap? I have been Todai more than 30 times since it opened. The over all quality of food and service were reasonable all the time. Today is my moms birthday, but one of fool server named Mike messed up my familys celebrating dinner. Chillin out on back WITHOUT serving my table. Never smiling, filled a cup with no iced faucet water after 10 mins past since request(I saw he was chillin out with his buddies on back). The idiot manager doesnt know how to control the servers even though I complained. IT WAS NOT CROWDED THOUGH. Goodbye Todai you are out of my life from now on. PS: my table was the worst dumping area in restaurant. Do I have to feel guilty about eating a lot in buffet?????

This is an all-you-can-eat locale. And as far as these type of restaurants go, this is a great place. The variety is great, the sashimi and sushi were fresh, good quality fish and ingredients. The cooked items were also freshly made and great variety...no skimping on product quality. The presentation of food and the dessert table was appealing. The only down side was the atmosphere, which is more of a fast food type restaurant (located inside the mall), and the sushi rice felt of lower quality, but maybe because it was cold...very c o l d. Kind of takes away from the flavor of the rolls. And rolls were loaded with rice.

Ate at Todai yesterday and the food was fair, definitely not worth the money. I called ahead to find out if lobster was offered on the buffet and I was told that it was. Upon arrival, I found out that the lobster was only offered every hour. You had to stand in line, reminded me of boarding school and they only gave you 1 lobster that was mediocre at best. The service was the worst that I have ever experienced, I had to ask for water to be refilled each time and had to ask for paper napkins each and every time. We did not have a single waitstaff check on us even one time. People, save your money and dine elsewhere. Richard

This place has lots of great options and the sushi selection is very large. The quality of the sushi is above average which surprised me because buffet sushi didnt seem like it would be that great. They had both rolls and sushi, crab legs, a Ramen bar, Chinese style food section, and a huge dessert bar with a green tea ice cream machine and an espresso machine. Our waiter was very good; only there when you needed him as to not be annoying and cleared your plates very quickly. I ate so much food I was full for the entire next day. We will definitely be returning.

We love this place, by far our favorite sushi restaurant in the area. A family favorite with excellent food for many different tastes. Tons of variety of seafood and sushi. The buffet is a great way to try just a piece or two rather than having to order a whole roll. Great desserts as well. Weve always received great service. Any one whos ever eaten at an a la carte sushi restaurant knows how pricey it can get, this is a reasonably affordable way to enjoy quality food. Well definately be back again, and again after that!

This place is HORRIBLE! I absolutely love Japanese and Chinese Cuisine. This was by far the WORST tasting food EVER! I mean EVER. I am sooo easy to please. For a buffet, i have learned to SAMPLE first before reach for a plate, serving yourself, and enjoying the meal. The FOOD has no taste as if the items were boiled with NO seasoning. There was no flavor. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR THIS DISASTER. I expected the expensive price. Given! Nothing wrong with spending money for good food. Instead I spent money for HORRIBLE food.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years. It is one of the best Sushi buffets that we have ever been to and certain the best in Virginia or the DC metro area. Eating your fill of Sushi can be an expensive meal, but at Todai, you can do it quite reasonably. Small children are free and they have things to please a small child like the popcorn shrimp. The management is very responsive. The few times that we had an issue, they quickly addressed it. Today, I asked for something special and out it came!
