Nothing special, not at all. I just dont get why theres so much hype. The laundry list of what was wrong: I ordered an old fashioned, it showed up served in a martini glass, not old fashioned glass. There were bugs crawling in the dirty light fixture overhead (which was older than me), the stock my lamb was braised in was alright, but nothing special. The creme brulee was frozen, not scratch-made, and the strawberries on the side were rotten (waitress did, to her credit, immediately comp the desert when I called her attention to the quality of the fruit). Drinks are strong, but not unique or very well made. Food was cooked to order, but showed none of the flair and invention I was expecting based upon what others have said. The decor is not charming or quaint, but simply outdated and dirty. The walls are cheap paneling, and the chairs are standard bar chairs. I really dont get what all the hype is about; it felt like I went to a dirty Applebees with white table cloths, and spent three times the money.

This was our third visit this year to Monocacy Crossing, one of those rare restaurants where you can be comfortable with your expectations long before you arrive. The service is consistent without being overbearing, seating arrangements are comfortable and perfect for conversation, and the food is absolutely superb. There were six in our party this time and each of us sampled every dish, which really had us laughing because we were unable to decide which was our favorite. The food is that good. I found myself partial to their seared tuna, an amazing dish that was tender and moist and cooked to perfection. On one prior occasion I had their famous white meatloaf, which takes the concept of comfort food to a whole new level ...holistic because it can erase the blues. If youre planning an evening out give yourself plenty of time to really enjoy and not be hurried.

What a disappointment from 10 years ago. We came here for Fathers Day I was rather embarrassed since I recommended it. Our Waitress was horrible I was dumbfounded by how little she seem to know about their menu, she forgot to put our App in, she tried to talk my Father out of what he wanted to order, she had no clue what kind of salad dressing was on his salad and she did not even offer dessert we had to ask for it. She then rushed us to pay our check cause the shift was changing. The food and presentation was so so the portion on the Creme Brulee is tiny. I will never recommend this place again

This is one of our favorite "go-to" restaurants when we want to have a nice meal with friends or even just a date night. Great drinks, creative food - but not kooky. The waitstaff are all great, and they really know the menu items so they can make suggestions and also wine pairings. Weve never had a bad experience. The front dining room is a little noisier, so when I go with my mom who has a hard time hearing conversations in noisy places, I request to sit in the back/larger dining room. Lunch is also great there!. They even have a nice outdoor patio for dining al fresco. Enjoy!

Great place, great food, and great service. Excellent bar, and nice summer patio area. Have dined here for over 10 years. The food maybe isnt the level of Tasting Room or Volt, and the ambience is more country and rustic, but this former Manhattanite would prefer eating at Monocacy Crossing multiple times a year, and mixing in an occasional Tasting Room or Volt visit (both are terrific - but dont have the warmth of Monocacy Crossing). A Frederick treasure, and not to be missed if visiting. 4/5 stars because the food is not super fancy, but some may view this a strength.

Didnt really like much. The appetizer of artichoke beignets was very good. That is all that I tried that was good. The service was bad. Waitress forgot my beer order and wifes wine order, then only came around once more after that. The lamb shank is a joke. When I order lamb I want it to taste like lamb, not some bland beef roast. I told the waitress when she asked how everything was and she assumed I was done, slapped dirty dishes on my plate and took it away. Will never be dining back, I am just glad that it was a gift card used and not my actual money.

This place is a gem! The restaurant is housed in a building which was probably a residence, at one time. They have a lovely terrace for outdoor dining. Its all very charming and quaint. The cuisine is creative and inspired. On this visit, I started my meal with the cauliflower topped with blue cheese and old bay seasoning. For my entree, I could have easily ordered one of the many outsanding choices but decided on my absolute favorite: the outstanding fried chicken. An added bonus is the cocktail offerings. The lemon drop martini will not disappoint!!

Appetizers and entres disaapoint - over cooked and over salted, but they were willing to cook new ones or let me order something else. The complimentary bread was a very yeasty imitation of a sourdough. They could do with improvement there too. But the service was lovely and the setting is beautiful - huge fireplace, good views, nice patio too. And the chocolate dessert was one of the very best Ive ever had!! This was my second visit and that entree was a disappointment too, but Ill try again bc Ive got to have that dessert one more time.

Mmm Mmm Good. My second time there, and took a friend there for his birthday. I think he thanked me about 10 times at dinner, a dozen times after and a dozen times since. Everyone made the evening comfortable, enjoyable, tasteful and worth the time, trip and money. We drove from Kensington MD to have dinner there, and it was the best. I stuffed myself leaving not a crumb. My friend actually packed a little for later at home...., I thought he was going to frame the meal. 5.5 out of 5 stars.

The coziest spot in Frederick county. Went here after exploring Monocacy Battlefield and was greeted by a very friendly and helpful Fernando who had just started a lovely fire. He made a delicious blood orange margarita and I tried duck for the first time in their duck nachos and let me tell ya, I love duck now. A tad pricey but the quality of their food far surpassed my expectation. Will be coming back for our anniversary!

This is the best restaurant in Frederick. There are a few places in town that cross that line from good food into great. This is the greatest of those. The pork tenderloin with a sage-cider sauce followed by the homemade coconut pound cake is by far the most delicious meal Ive had.

This was the first time that weve eaten here and we went with a group of friends for my birthday. The ambiance was very homey. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, helpful, and genuine, some of the best I have had anywhere. And the food was delicious! I cant wait to go back!

By far our favorite dinner/lunch out destination. Good for all occasions-after a hike at sugarloaf, with a few of our friends, or to celebrate a special occasion. Never had a bad experience at Monocacy Crossing. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. Food is ALWAYS fabulous!
