I was one of the first customers when opened on Hampton Blvd across from ODU back in the mid 90s. All of their food is great. I am particularly fond of their chili rellenos. Their rellenos are not fried (I know that is not traditional), but they are incredibly flavorful. Much of the menu reflects the type of Mexican cuisine you find in Hampton Road. I know it doesnt taste like the Mexican food in California, or Texas, but its what I love. Their salsa is very fresh and reminds me of a pico. The location in Chesapeake is just as tasty and the manager used to be my waiter almost 20 years ago. We have both gotten older, and I am certainly carrying the evidence of my love for Mi Hogar. I have also had their fajitas, taco salad, burritos, tacos, queso dip, enchiladas, fried ice cream, crema salad, chimichangas, rice, and beans. Of course, not during the same visit :-). All of it is excellent and worth the visit. I was asked once what I would eat for my last meal. You guessed it, chili rellenos from Mi Hogar.

Mi Hogar translates to My Home in English, for those who may not already know. That is what this restaurant is to me, a home away from home, a comfortable, familiar, happy place. I have been a customer at Mi Hogar since 2004 and have never had a bad experience. I have eaten at both the Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake location (relocated from Military Hey, Norfolk) and the Granby St, Norfolk locations, and I prefer the Battlefield restaurant. Dont get me wrong, the Granby St location is great, some of the food is just prepared slightly differently which is something only a regular and a foodie like myself would probably notice. I also have bonded with the long time staff at the Chesapeake location, I feel like family when I walk in there, its fantastic. The food is always perfect, service is always at 110% and fast and the prices are superb. I highly recommend you give them a try, you shouldnt be disappointed!

Thieves! I went Late last night for CINCO DE mayo, and they messed up our drink order. ( they were NOT PACKED) how do you mess up margaritas? Which I gave mine away cause it was gross. Then they didnt have toilet paper in the restrooms, and lastly, I left my wallet on the table. And immediately got back in touch with them, and they said they "never found it". Yet it was cleaned by THEIR STAFF right after we walked away! Absolutely unacceptable. Food means nothing when you get your personal belongings STOLEN FROM THE PEOPLE AT THE RESTAURANT. So much for good honest people..... I would never go back to this place. I should report them to the POLICE! Let them review the cameras! Sincerely, Very disappointed ex customer, Edwina Marron Brown

Been a few times and on the way now. Everyone is very polite and attentive. Food is amazing, chips are hot and have unlimited white sauce.. price is not bad at all. Clean fast friendly and willing to do custom orders. last time we got there 20 mins early, i asked if we could be seated early, told him i knew they wernt open yet and we would wait, just wanted to be out of the cold and he sat us, and went ahead and brought hot fresh chips and drinks. check this place out! This is the only mexican place we go now.

Havent had Mexican in a long time, (real Mexican mind you, not Chipotle) and it was fantastic. I had chicken and beef fajitas and they were hot, they came quickly, and there was a ton of it for just one person. The wait staff was super nice, very attentive and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommended this place for everyone who would like to try it.

Walked in and ordered to go. It was done literally in minutes. Food was hot and fresh. I wouldve give 5 stars but didnt because there is no menu online to look at or order from to save time when youre picking up food on your lunch break or website, i gave it 4. Thankfully the order was done very quick so we were not late getting back to work.

Stopped by for the first time for an early lunch while working in the area and was very impressed. Service was excellent and the Tacos El Pastor were flavorful, very filling and reasonably priced. Next time, I just need to remember to decline the chips before the meal as they are not needed to fill me up! I will be back.

Always delicious food. Great staff. Santiago is a fabulous cook. Benji keeps everything really clean and it is like coming home to eat when we come here. You will feel like you belong as part of the family from your first visit. Lots of selections on the menu. Very resonible prices.

This is my familys staple for eating out. We typically eat here every month. Service is usually reasonable, but the food is always fantastic. We eat all kinds of foods on the menu... getting adventurous with entrees never failed to reward us here!

Service was great, I orders tacos we carnitas. The pork was very greasy and bland. Husband ordered tacos we carne asada. The meat was not carne asada. Even with the really nice, attentive wait staff, I dont think Ill eat there again.

Great food and service! I had a huge pineapple dish. My wife had fajitas. My kids had quesadillas. We left happy!! I highly recommend outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

Slow service, my taco salad shell was burnt and they didnt offer to replace it, and they never gave me chips and salsa until my meal was delivered. Not a good experience.
