I give this restaurant zero stars. In order to leave a comment I must give at least one star. Please read this as zero stars. My experience here was horrible. I have celiac and am obviously highly allergic to gluten. We went out of our way to get to this restaurant to make sure I was safe for dinner on our long drive home. We ate there last night. Today, I am incredibly sick. In response to the fact I was immediately sick while still on the premises, the manager offered me Benadryl. Clearly these people have no idea how to deal with gluten intolerance. When we arrived at the restaurant, I informed the hostess I was very sensitive to gluten. I did the same thing when I first spoke with the waitress, sharing with her we had gone out of our way to get to Timberwood Grill because we understood this restaurant was responsible about gluten free issues. My salad was delivered with croutons on it. After the salad scare, I began to worry about the nachos we had ordered. They were ordered from the gluten free menu. Ninety percent of the chips in the order were apparently gluten free, but some of the chips were different. When I asked about the different chips, I was assured the platter was completely gluten free. After I had consumed the different chips, the waitress came by to let me know they were actually wheat chips. Likewise, the "gluten free" fries we consumed were advertised as gluten free. After I began to get sick while still in the restaurant, the manager came by the table to say she needed to let me know the fries were not cooked in designated oil and that there might be traces of gluten in them. Needless to say, I was sick and uncomfortable on my four-hour ride the rest of the way home to North Carolina. I know people have been criminally prosecuted in my state for advertising something as gluten free and knowing it is not, in fact, gluten free. I do not know the laws in Virginia, but will find out. The manager, who had no idea what she was talking about, said the entire thing was a "server error" and indeed, the server was not well versed in the seriousness of this disease. Also, after being told several times I was gluten intolerant, she allegedly did not make a note of that fact on the order. Nonetheless, the manager was also clueless, offering Benedryl to combat the injury. These people are not trained and do not realize they have left me with two weeks of misery and an inability to walk, as my joints swell up today and my body is ravaged. Please avoid this restaurant if you have any tendency to be impacted by gluten. I believe if a restaurant advertises itself as a gluten free eating experience, they have a responsibility to educate their employees. If you are on a gluten free diet because you are trying to be healthy, maybe the gluten included in the "gluten free" items here will not leave you in pain. As for a celiac, you would prefer to not eat than to eat here. Please beware.

Exceptional beer selection, particularly the monster cooler which also caters for carry out. Superb menu too, the burgers are incredible. Almost every year there is a competition to vote for the best burger and many of the staff offer their designs and the public rates with the winner making the menu. Lots of huge HD TV screens too if you want to catch the game, and almost always a brilliant atmosphere - especially with Tournaments such as the World Cup. Theres also a phenomenal outdoor patio area, but be sure to allow for time if its a sunny day as those spots are extremely popular. Friendly & knowledgeable staff add to a great experience which makes this one of Charlottesvilles must visit spots.

We walked in and the host made a weird comment that "we could do whatever we wanted in the booth." Odd.. then the menus were sticky and dirty. We didnt get silverware until our disgusting food came. The fish tacos were by far the worst meal I have ever eaten. The fish was obviously a frozen popcorn fish and it was on a plain flour tortilla.. with cilantro, pico, cucumber (why on earth), two types of gross sauces and cabbage... it was horrible. The drink I ordered was $7.50 for crap liquor. It was supposed to be a blackberry breeze. Tasted like a kool aid jammer with aristocrat. Awful experience for my friends and I.. do not recommend and never will go back. This place has really good down hill.

Best place north of Charlottesville for a business lunch. Plenty of booths on the dinner side with room for notes/papers and enough privacy and quiet for discussions. Menu has a wide range of tasty choices, from rich to skinny. Service has routinely been very good to excellent. On my last visit, they didnt have my favorite cashew chicken - but the server offered up an off-menu combination to get close & satisfy my tastes. The bar side is a great place to watch games. Come early for a good seat; they often draw SRO crowds for big games.

This is the place where normal 9 to 5ers come to unwind from a normal hard days work. The staff is very friendly and the management is superb! A great place to meet and make friends outside of UVA. Their beer list is a good selection that will the most savvy entertained as well as their menu of great food. Its definitly a pleasing environment and well operated. Even when the parking lot is full to capacity they host an awesome operation. This is my choice go to after work any day! Much kudos to Timberwood thanks a million!!!

I just came back from the Timberwood Grill for a late Sunday afternoon Lunch. Incredible is all I can say. The service and selection made my entire afternoon so enjoyable. I highly recommend the Crazy Jane salad (who ever she is she makes a great salad) and the Rugby Sandwich was outstanding. I finished the entire sandwich but probably only because I had not eaten all day. IT WAS HUGE and DELICIOUS. You can go anywhere you want but the Timberwood Grill has it all for a very reasonable price. Go and have a great time.

We enjoyed our meal, but dont go there if you want a relaxing meal where you can talk to someone at your table easily. We went on a Sat night, and it was very loud. Two large tables beside us where the folks were having a very good time, and yelling to be heard over one another and the general atmosphere. Definitely felt we were eating in the middle of a bar, even though we were in the restaurant side. Might try it again, but on a weekday and will go inside first to see if there are any large/loud parties going on.

Called 45 minutes in advance and showed up with 15 people. Our waitress, Ashley, was extremely attentive, very efficient, friendly, and courteous. Our wait for this many lunches at one time was only about 10 minutes! Everyone was happy with their lunch, and Ashley, so kindly provided us with extra plates, utensils, etc. for a cake we brought in ourselves. Timberwood...keep up the great work! Ashley, you are a 5 star waitress :)

This is a good place to eat outside if you do not want to go to the downtown mall. The corn chowder is really good, a nice non meat option if you are not up for a big dinner. If you are looking for your favorite football game and do not get it at home, the staff is always willing to put up what you want to watch in the bar area. They have 7 TVs, one really big. Everyone in our house finds something they like here.
