How does this place have 4.4 stars? We went there based on our American friends recommendation. They said this is their favorite Chinese restaurant in Salt Lake. Being Chinese myself, I had to go try it. We ordered 4 take outs: Strawberry chicken, mango chicken, sesame chicken, and the duck. Kind of a strange menu with all the citrus fruits (mind you, except lemon chicken, all fruity chicken dish is not actually Chinese). The mango chicken turned out to be the better one, and the duck was decent too. But when I say better, I am comparing among 4 below-average take out orders. Everything was quite flavorless and dry. It was simply bad if you ask me. All four of us, 2 Asians & 2 Utahns, did not like the food. In my opinion, this was one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have been to in Utah. I can tolerate and even enjoy some American Chinese food, but this was just bad. I would give it a 2/10. The 2 points goes to being unique in using different fruits other than the usual orange (chicken) and lemon (chicken). Perhaps take-out is worse than sitting down? But I cant imagine any reasons why it would be. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this place nor will I go back again.

My family and I were visiting some family in Sandy when we decided to try this place out. My sister and her friend was the one who recommended this place to us. We ordered the general tsao chicken, broccoli beef, eggplant chicken, shrimp fried rice,...(and there was one more but I cant remember! Lo mein(?)) All I have to say is that it was the BEST Chinese food that weve had in a very long time. I loved the eggplant, it was savory and absolutely delicious! Although my husband and daughter preferred the general tsao chicken. My son just ate everything in sight :) We felt bad for ordering near closing time, but the staff was so nice and accommodating. When we were leaving my sisters house, my daughter kept telling me to make sure that we bring the general tsao chicken back with us to the hotel. I just wanted to thank you guys so much for all the delicious food and the wonderful service - my family was very happy - were already planning on coming back to Joyluck when were in Utah :)

We really wanted to love this place. The staff was really nice and the service was really good. However, I dont get the rave reviews on the food. We ordered "safe" with it being our first visit, General Tsaos Chicken and Beef Lo Mein. We thought we were in business when the lady at the table next to us also ordered the Gen. T Chicken and asked that the "spices be left off". We were hoping she was a) a regular and the dish was good, and/or b) it was going to be nice and spicy. Well, it was sweet but had ZERO kick at all. Tasted very bland and the chicken was not crispy. The Beef Lo Mein and the Cheese Wontons were decent, but there are better places in the valley. Try Asian Star or head up to SLC and hit J Wong (best in the valley).

My absolute favorite Asian restaurant! Weve been coming here for years because the food is the best Asian you can get in the valley. Weve become great friends with the staff (especially the ever-incredible server, Minh) over these years and we havent been let down by the service. They have a large menu and are more than willing to modify dishes as desired (3 of our usual 6 are always modified and they get it right every time - Minh will even remind us if we forget something). The food is high quality and its priced the same as most other Asian restaurants, except you get more food so its a much better value. I absolutely recommend Joy Luck to anyone looking for yummy Asian food!

GLUTEN FREE! DAIRY FREE! Amazing food handling for people with food allergies! I am celiac and very sensitve to gluten. My mother is gluten free AND dairy free and she can eat here. They are certifiably gluten free, just tell them of course. Plus its so good I crave it day and night! We get the Tangerine chicken, the aromatic salt bake, the Thai salmon, the shrimp dish, cashew chicken, and the hot and sour soup just to name a few of our favorites. Also, the customer service is completely outstanding. Better than anywhere Ive been served before. Seriously. Its awesome. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

I love eating at Joy Luck! Its my favorite chinese restaurant. The food tends to run a tad bit on the sweet side, but is always amazing. The egg drop soup is the best in the valley. The mango chicken is my favorite and is crispy enough to have a great texture but yet not overdone and dry. The pineapple chicken is served in half a pineapple. How cool is that! All the food Ive eaten there is cooked perfectly consistently. The service is great for dine in, and for take out, its always ready by the time I get there from West Jordan. Overall, I love this place!

This place is great for lunch. They have a special lunch menu and everything on there is cheap. If you dont other a drink youll spend less than $10 including tax and tip, thats hard to beat. The food is fresh. The dont overlook the vegetables and source them freshly. The food is a bit oily and salty. Its somewhat authentic Chinese food but its also customized quite a bit to fit the American taste buds. Overall an OK restaurant but you can certainly find better food options in town. Service is solid and theres usually more than enough parking available.

Really good food, clean, great service & friendly waiter, extremely reasonable prices, lots of menu options & large portion sizes. We got a beer, an iced tea, an appetizer, 4 entrees, and a dessert and our bill was $56 including tax...and we had lots of leftovers! Not bad for a family of 4. I worked at P.F Changs for 6 yrs and though the food is great, the portions are small and its extremely overpriced. I would come here over P.F. Changs any day. Number 1 bonus for me was that 90% of the menu items can be made gluten free...we will be back soon!!

Ordered Teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, Peking ribs, and the lo mein noodles. The teriyaki chicken was dry and flavorless. The orange chicken was was neither spicy or orange it had no flavor. Chicken in glop. The Peking ribs were mildly decent the sauce being the only one of the 3 entrees that had flavor. The noodles were cooked well and had good flavor however they were a little salty. We had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews here and our families recommendation, however we will not return to this resturant.

So I realized that even though Ive been coming here for the past four years, Ive actually never left a review. Im kind of embarrassed to say this, but Joyluck is always a part of my dating itinerary. I just know how awesome this place is. I dont know about other people but Im a loyal fan of their cheese wontons, spicy wonton soup, and tangerine chicken. The staff is always super friendly and entertaining (not gonna lie, they make me look good) and the food is of course always delicious. You guys are awesome!
