Ive been a frequent customer of the Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City for roughly 20 years. Its my favorite restaurant on Main Street. I almost always order the fish & chips which is somewhat of a signature dish. Ive been to the SLC location twice. The first time I thought the prices were high compared to the PC location. My office is in an adjacent building so I eat lunch in the area daily, but the pricing definitely excludes WBP from the regular lunch rotation. Last night I visited the second time for a business meeting. Everything was fine until my typical order of fish & chips arrived and there was no cole slaw included. This may sound petty but, as I mentioned, Ive been frequenting the PC location for 20 years and the fish and chips always comes with cole slaw (which is very good also). I was also served cole slaw with fish & chips on my previous visit to the SLC location. When I inquired about the exclusion to our waitress she stated the fish & chips didnt come with cole slaw and was, frankly, quite condescending in acting like I was making some unreasonable request. I tried explaining that I have probably ordered the fish & chips 200 times and it always came with cole slaw. I wasnt so concerned about starving to death because of the lack of cole slaw with the meal but I would have appreciated an explanation for the missing slaw. Were they just out of slaw that night and hoping I wouldnt notice it missing? Or does the dish no longer include cole slaw? In any case, the waitress just walked away, clearly demonstrating that she wasnt interested in helping to resolve my slaw dilemma. They certainly didnt reduce the price of the entrée to compensate for the reduced value of the meal. I very much hope the Park City location isnt also forgoing the cole slaw with the fish & chips. So my overall opinion of the SLC Wasatch Brew Pub is that its a nice place with good food but the prices are too high. If youre not at all concerned with value of your meals I suppose I would still recommend it, but in my particular case I will not choose to eat there again. Theres something about restaurants that increase margins by excluding previously included items or reducing portion size that makes me feel Im being cheated. They could have at least offered the cole slaw as an optional item for a small extra charge and I would have been annoyed but it wouldnt have been a deal-breaker. Or if the waitress had shown some interest in my dilemma (I wasnt being rude in the slightest) and sought out an explanation for the change I would have be less critical. And the fact remains that in the US fish & chips are usually accompanied by cole slaw in the same sense that when you order fish & chips you expect to get french fries and not potato chips.

There’s a special sort of stupid that permeates the Salt Lake Valley and unlike Sasquatch or the Abominable Snowman, it’s not difficult to find. One only need venture to the Liberal bastion that is Sugar House and look for the multitude of Subarus adorned with ‘Bernie 2016’, ‘Love Trumps Hate’ or ‘I Heart Hillary’ bumper stickers and wander into the clichéd of all clichés; The Wasatch Brew Pub. There, on full display, the so-called enlightened among us sip from their chalices an overhyped, overpriced cocktail that reminds me a lot of…wait, it’s coming to me… Keystone Light. Adding to the ludicracy that makes up this homogenized pub and grill is a clientele contingent of students from the nearby commuter college, er…The University of Utah - who because of some recent football success, believe they’re arrived. Then again, the miracle or a fight mentality would have to run fairly deep, given the obvious inferiority complex that evolves from knowing they can’t drink ‘real’ beer, their legal limit for driving while intoxicated is now the lowest in the nation and alcohol has to be served behind what is called the ‘Zion Wall’ for fear the mere sight of a bottle of whiskey or gin will insight fear and tumult among the masses. Which reminds me, the aloof staff at Wasatch Brew Pub was only allowed to serve me one drink before the state’s antiquated liquor laws mandated I order food before I could indulge in a second. Perhaps they’ve found a way to compensate, as I swear I saw out of the corner of my eye a 20-something in skinny jeans, humming the latest Maroon 5 tune while drinking his libation through a straw, but I can’t be sure. Let’s call it what it is; a haven for the ‘snowflake’ generation hell-bent on safe spaces and transsexual bathrooms. It’s all very sad, really. Salt Lake City was once one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s now the homeless capital of the country and only getting worse. Ah, those pesky progressive policies, again. You do realize that Bernie has three houses and a loaf of bread in Venezuela costs more than your Subaru, right? That’s right, Utes with your Socialist Utopian aspirations. Don’t blame it on the church. You’ve screwed up your city all by yourself! But it’s cute you have a little social club like the Wasatch Brew Pub to ‘coexist’.

1st visit Very good food, love Mac and cheese and they make a decent batch. The guys server was awesome. It didnt blow me away but it was a very good eating experience and the staff was kind and everything was sublime. I will eat here again. 2nd visit AWEFUL!!! Waitress was mad at us that she had to wait on us, like she was pisses we came in. Everything we ordered she gave us pushback. She got EVERYTHING on our order wrong. We were so uncomfortable dealing with her and just didnt want to be there... we didnt want to say anything about how screwed up.everything was because we were afraid of her getting upset with us lol ugh... I finally brought it up and she snapped at me saying she didnt have what we asked but this was close enough... I looked at her like... Is that seriously your answer? None of this is really what we ordered but I felt bad so we will just pay and you can throw all of this away... She said, Okay Ill get your Check and walked away... charged us full price, never apologized, never filled our drinks once, I had to walk to the bar with me and my wifes drinks lol... wtf... this place was a joke and I was so blown away of how rude we were being treated over and over and over and over and over and over again. Woohoo, yeah... if you want people to get mad at you and talk to you like youre a waist of their time and make you work for food you dont like it only costs $30 per person :P I wish the owner could be informed of this because it was the worst restaurant experience of my life. The staff should be talked to... well like 4 of them anyways... I want to rate 1 star but, my 1st experience was good and I hear the owners of this place are good people... I feel.bad...
