Had lunch yesterday at this place. Was bright and sunny, and had the opportunity to enjoy the weather after the storm. Great outside patio seating and a nice ambiance. Its hard to find something that creates the feel of a hideaway in todays modern society. Upon walking into the restaurant, Roosters gives off an antiqued alehouse that has been restored from its late 1800s prime. The staff ensures that you are greeted within moments after walking in. Sadly the service level from the server was somewhat lacking. After being sat by the hostess - it was another 5+ minutes prior to my server acknowledging me. Had I been in with a group of friends - this is highly preferred - which gives the group time enough to jocky for seating positions and for old friends to start catching up on life experiences. This was not the case as a single young adult. Little introduction and prompt service goes a long way. The waitress waited until the end the experience before any recommendations were made in regards to the menu, and seemed disengaged throughout our short interactions. Appetizers are always a must when trying a new establishment! First up were the Naughty Fries. These came our mere minutes after placing the order. Great timing and good texture! They were soft and moist on the inside while still having a crisp bite on the outside. The Pepper Jack sauce, Gorgonzola sauce and Louisiana hot sauce played well with one another and helped to enhance the overall experience. The dishes and display of the food added to the value provided. The Chicken Vera Cruz was served for an entree. The menu described it as Tender chicken breast stuffed with spicy cheese filling baked and served with green rice, sautéed vegetables and smooth tomatillo sauce. The tamatillo sauce was divine! This complimented the sautéed vegetables, which came out with the right amount of soft flesh and still had a freshly ripe appeal. The green rice was over watered and lacked any real flavor. The Chicken came out chard - almost burnt. This was a real disappointment. I couldnt go out and not try some of their famed brewed beer. I asked the waitress for a sample platter for the beer on tap. If you are looking for a unique beer selection - my advice is to seek another location. Their Amber Ale tastes like any other beer bought from the store, same with the dark Lager. For the pricing - You can pick up double the beer from the local pub. The biggest disappointment from the trip was asking for their famous Polygamy blend and being told that they did not have any. Little concerning as every member of the staff was wearing shifts promoting the beer as their marketing outside has their famous tagline attached to the availability of the brew. Overall - 3 Star Food - 2 Star Drinks - 1 Star Service - 2 Star Display - 5 Star Cleanliness - 5 Star Atmosphere - 4.5 Star

I am a Vegan. A Meetup group I belonged to was meeting at Roosters for dinner in the summer of 2015 and I stopped in a few days before to ask if Roosters had any Vegan-friendly beer. A very nice man who worked there didnt know the answer to my question, but gave me his email address and the email address of the Brewmaster so I could ask him what beers might be Vegan-friendly. I never heard back from either of these two men, so I didnt go to dinner there. Just two days ago, I found out that Guinness is changing its filtering process to exclude using isinglass (a fish derivative) in their filtering process. Guinness Draught, being simply The Best Beer in the World (others imitate, but never duplicate) will now be available in the USA and Utah later in the year (2016), so I will be tossing back a pint or two from now on at MacCools or the Two Bit Street Cafe. Roosters may not care about losing my business, but there are more and more vegetarians and Vegans all the time and restaurants who truly care about their customers, and potential customers, always have vegetarian and Vegan options on their food and drink menus. I will be notifying all the Vegan groups in Utah to let them know of the change Guinness (a more successful brewing company than Roosters can ever hope to be) is making to please the huge world-wide vegetarian and Vegan community, and which bars and restaurants have Guinness Draught on tap.

Went in for breakfast this morning after walking the farmers market, and I have to say by far the worst service Ive had experienced. After walking in and being seated we waited for about 15 minutes, and waitress finally walked over and asked what we wanted. She brought are drinks back and both not what we had asked for we just figured she was busy. Next when we were ordering she had no idea what was going on, we asked for the breakfast burrito and we asked for extra things and she completely and amity said THATS EXTRA. Moving on I asked her for my eggs scrambled and she said it doesnt come with eggs and finally we had to read her the menu and explain item for item. During breakfast we seen her once and she brought 1 refill of Mtn dew then the next time she walked by she said Do you need a refill to but never came back. Just the eggs were cold just pancakes blah ordered butter never got it orders salsa that never cam just awful and have never had a waitress that had no idea what was going on or even knew the menu. Btw place was dead and there is definelty no excuse for this bad of service, I could see if it was slammed and packed but me and another couple.

I have been to both the Layton and Ogden locations, and, I must say.. Roosters is my favorite restaurant. I drive from Salt Lake to enjoy this place a few times a month. Recommendations? Appetizer: Pepperjack Shrimp or the Wings, if youre into spicy. Lunch Menu: Margherita Pizza: Tomatoes, Mozzarella, and PINE NUTS.. brilliant. Dinner Menu: My favorite dinner item is a three-way tie. The Pacific Coast Bisque is honestly to die for, but then I love the unique flavors combined in the Ravioli, with half of the pasta covered in a roasted red pepper sauce, complimenting nicely with the gorgonzola sauce, however, the toast served with it always comes with a little too much butter. Finally, the Rack of Lamb is almost inexplicably good, but a little pricey. Beer: Two- Bit Amber. Rich and distinct. The historic atmosphere at the Ogden location is lovely and relaxed, while the Layton location offers a more contemporary style. The service is great, for which I particularly enjoy the service at the Layton location. I will continue to frequent this great establishment. Hope this helps.. enjoy!

Ive eaten here a bunch of times. Used to be a reliable place to eat, now it sucks like a prison cafeteria. Draft beer was watery. Fish was rubbery. It was all microwaved frozen food, including the patties in the burger. Server was a joker, made mistakes but instead of fixing them made smart remarks. Its a microbrewery with a condescending attitude. Management printed up t-shirts: "You have to eat to drink". The beer is not good enough to eat much of what they have. The fried cheese appetizers tasted great with buffalo wing sauce and I thought the fries were good. No one else liked them. High prices and sub Dennys quality fair. If you go to drink, order an appetizer. If you want to eat, go elsewhere. I used to marvel at the cast iron chair leg used as a front door handle. Now it feels like the flush lever on a giant toilet.
