Normally the service is stellar in this place but… On Black Friday which is after Grey Thursday but before Regretful Saturday I stopped in for a burger. 5-10 minutes after ordering I couldn’t help but notice that I wasn’t sucking down my favorite adult beverage. I went to the bar and asked Nicole C. where my frosty was. She apologized for neglecting me and got after it. I made a quip about her not exactly having a restaurant full of patrons to worry about and she cast some defensive remark to the contrary. She then said “I’m not perfect”. Being a scholar of the obvious I let the remark go and chalked it up to her probably being on her period. I’ve counted more players on The Washington Generals than were in that place at the time and with two servers it could not have been a daunting task to take care of the customers. Her thin skinned I-will-accept-“Likes”-but-don’t-hurt-my-validation-with-constructive-criticism response was not noteworthy enough to get bothered by. What turned my jock strap inside-out was her complete absence during my meal. I long for the cold shoulder at a new car dealership but not while dining. Obviously I tipped her not one single penny which she magnificently earned. Why did I not give a sub-5 star rating? While I hope the owner chastises Nicole C. (I have my doubts), I did not want this to go on his permanent record. I have employees too and would rather have the opportunity to fix a sitch than gain another Google genital wart as they are difficult to get rid of. Historically I’m not a “review” kind of guy. I would have normally emailed Skeptical Chymist directly but apparently their email address is a secret. As I’m typing this my stomach is beginning to hurt. If I end up getting explosive diarrhea because of my lunch, another much less friendly review will follow.

I have been in a couple times to skeptical chymist over the past couple years because it is in my neighborhood and is a good place to go if you are looking for good beers. The food has always been pretty tasty as well. I noticed that the menu changed a bit and our server informed us that they had added some new menu items. We tried the pork tacos as an app and I had the green chili burger (not really something you would see in an irish pub however) they were great. The tacos were better than any Mexican restaurant I have been to. My wife had the soup and said she loved it (potato leek). Whoever they have in the kitchen seems to know what theyre doing.

The atmosphere is very Irish. Lots of old tyme artwork and dim lighting. Everything is made of wood. Its a nice place for a quick drink or bite, but definitely not for a date night. Unless your girl likes Irish places, I wouldnt recommend going there. Its a guys bar. The drink list is great with a variety of IPAs, Malts, and other Craft Beers. They occasionally have live music which is WAY too loud. They need to tone it down, it was the center of attention, whereas most other places have live music as a background sound. Almost rock concert loud. Other than that, I definitely recommend this place.

came here with a friend from out of town heres my review: 1. they got 2 waitresses 1 old and 1 young we got the old one LOL. Yes she acted as old as she looked. I Asked politely and with a smile " hows are the scallop"s today" her response "I dont know" not only that but in a rude tone. Just an example of the service you may get from this granny. You would think if your like 50 plus and a waitress you would have some common politeness or at least know your menu. So service not memorable. Steer clear of the old waitress is my recommendation for some OK food but not anything memorable.

Went for St Pattys day....$10 cover. No drink specials at all. Hot dogs were $7.50....The womens restroom had not been cleaned for hours. For $10 a head and no specials I was not impressed at all. I left and headed to Goldies for $2 pints and no cover. I will not return. The ladies running the bar were very snotty too. If you cant stand the heat! Get out of the kitchen. Just my opinion though! The band was OK I guess but not worth $10 with no specials. I didnt get the luck of the Irish that is for sure!

Really used to love this place, but the last few times weve been here we were very unimpressed. Super slow service, although there were only 3 other tables with people in the place. The food was ok, but not great. Appetizer pretzles were super greasy and seemed like they were deep fried. Fish and chips had way too much breading and pretty soggy. The Mr. had the beef wellington and said it had a good flavor, but it looked a bit overcooked.

As a sales consultant with no office, i am always on the lookout for a quiet place i can plug in during the day. When i am in North Scottsdale i cone here. They have a quiet nook where i can plug in , get connected and eat a nice meal. I usually get the steak salad. Most importantly they are very cool about me taking extra time to do work. I was able to meet a client there for happy hour once and they have a great beer selection

I came here about two weeks before St. Patricks day, 2016 and ordered a beer and a meal with a friend. At first I did not pay attention to what I was drinking until I looked down into my glass and noticed something crawling in my drink. There was a spider swimming around! I do not know how long it was there but upon asking for another drink, the bartender filled up the glass only half way full of more beer.

I really wanted to like this place. The food was mediocre at best - even tried to make it better by ordering the bread pudding, but it was bland and underwhelming as the rest of the food. If you want corned beef and cabbage go to Rula Bula. For a good burger go to Wilderness Brewing. For bread pudding Murphys Law is king. Bland food, bland service, and to top it off they are Seahawks fans.

Skeptical Chymist is a cool Irish themed pub in Scottsdale. My wife is a huge fan of the layout which has an old Irish pub look to it. There is a decent selection of beers on tap as well as a variety of wines. The food is normal pub fare and a bit on the high side compared to other Irish pubs around the valley. If youre already in Scottsdale, its a fun pub to visit.

Bartender is to busy talking to friends and on his cell phone to notice that people are trying to order drinks and even after you finally get to order something the bartenders get sidetracked talking to there friends so you still end up not getting a drink. Your better off going someplace where they want your business and try to keep it.

Best place for beers in town. Have the Grimburgen, once you do, youll never have another type of beer again. The servers are awesome, really friendly people. Prices for food is a little high, but nothing to scoff at. Weve been coming to the Skeptical Chymist for about two years and well be going to for far longer.
