If you are a true sushi lover with a tight wallet, I definally suggest Red Ginger. My aunt flew in today and I took her ther along with 4 others. We ordered drinks, Spring Rolls, Crab Ragoons, Edamame, Las Vegas rolls (Very Good), Ichi rolls (one of thir best), enough to make all 6 of sick because of how much we ate, for only $60. However, I absolutely despise the very non-customer friendly service they have here. The staff barely speaks english. You will be repeating your order quite a few times before they write it down correctly, and make sure they writting it down just like you asked, otherwise you will paying for things you didnt want. As soon as they have your order, the weitresses will pay you no attention until your food is ready, which is when, once again, they will pay no attention to you. They will walk around very quickly and go out of sight before you can ask for another drink. We had to litteraly wave them down to get napkins for the drink my baby brother spilled. Before leaving, we waived down another weitress to order another vegas roll, it took them so long that we asked another waitress to check up on it (we sat there waiting for it for 15min). Well, that weitress, not knowing english i presume, thought we were ordering another las vegas roll and after almost yelling at the manager (whos english is also terrible) trying to explain the situation, we paid for only one additional roll, rather than the two. In short, if you dont care about the service level (which is close to 0 if not at 0) and only care about how good the food is, this is your place and went you ask for the check, you will be suprised with how little all that food costed. But if being treated like the fish used in the sushi bothers you, Id choose somewhere else

This place used to have a line out the door and at least a 30 min wait for a table and great tasting sushi for a great price. A few years later they closed down for renovations and I think during this time new management took over. Since this renovation the sushi has become horrible. This fish is old and colored different, they stingy on the amount of goodies they put in each roll (mostly rice and sauce). Old tasting fish is a scary thought, because you have no idea where that fish has been and how old it really is. Last night we thought we would give it a second chance from the previous time we ate here in the fall, which we though was just an off night for the sushi chefs and we would be back. Last night was my wife and Is last time going here. My wife had stomach pain 30 minutes after we finished our meal. I woke up in the middle of the night wanting to vomit and I was nauseous. The sushi was so bad we didnt even finish it, it tasted old and funny. If you are looking for a second option Ichiban down the road on state street has good rolls for a similar price, and they actually prepare the sushi safely in my opinion. My wife and I are now turned off for sushi for a while. No telling when we will go out for sushi next. My review also joins several other reviews on the web with similar experiences. Sad day for this place because I was super good at one time. I think they changed their vendors to reduce their overhead and are saving old fish to pinch some pennies. Hope one day this place turns around, but I wont be the one to find out.My wife and I have been going here since 2011, and back then it was a popular sushi place often with a line and a wait to get a seat for great tasting

If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and realize that there is a pretty clear pattern regarding the service at this joint. If you are planning on going here for lunch, be sure to have at least 1 to 2 hours of time available as it will take you that long just to have a few rolls. As the majority have said, the food is fairly decent. Ive only ever had 1 roll where I had one piece and almost threw up, coincidentally that happened to be yesterday. The fishy-ness of the roll was so bad, it stayed with me clear through to the next day.Service is so terrible, you might as well refill your own drink. You get nothing to eat the rolls with, and a napkin doesnt exists at this place, I swear. However, all of this complaining falls on deaf ears as its always packed. Every time I have gone it has been packed. Perhaps they are like me, that they deal with the service to get fairly good tasting sushi rolls at great prices. My last experience (yesterday) was so disgusting that I will not return. "Rice" is another establishment nearby I think Ill give them a try. For that matter, there are many sushi places I think I will go rather than here. Im just tired of terrible service and the extra long lunches. I literally stood for 10 min at the cashiers desk waiting for someone to help me. I made eye contact with almost every server, tried to even flag some down. They straight up avoided me, on purpose. As I write this, Im getting agitated now thinking about it. Go here only if you have time, want cheap sushi, and want to feel like the minority.

Used to be good but new management. So if you guys feel the need to eat at the Red Mermaid Bistro located on 3333 S State St Salt Lake City...DONT! We were harassed by the manager because one of our meals were spoiled and rancid and the other was leftover and cold and we felt that it wasnt worth paying for or eating. We were willing to pay for the other meals but the manager proceeded to raise his voice and threaten to call the cops if we didnt pay. He even placed his hands on my father and I had to diffuse the situation before it escalated. As if that wasnt enough, he followed us out to the street screaming at the top of his lungs continuing to threaten us with the police. This WAS a place we would frequent every Sunday because we knew the owners well. Unfortunately they sold the business to new management, who are not friendly people and their manager is unprofessional and abrasive. We have never been treated this poorly by any establishment and we are very upset by their so called "customer service." I will never go there again and I urge my friends to do the same. If you do, prepare for the food to be subpar and to be verbally abused by the manager for bringing it to his attention. Thanks everyone and take care.

This place is horrible. I had eaten there couple weeks ago. The server was mean they didnt even speak English.i cant really communicate with them but thats ok. The most important thing is their fishes. When I order 5 kinds of sashimi, the fish was coming out with warn. When I told the the server they didnt really understand me,and seem I am crazy. I know the fish was bad and it really smells, and then I wanna talk to the manager.guess what she found another server to talk to me, and she said we alway had fresh fish and always keep them well.she told me mabey the weather and room temperature is too hot so the fish is warn now. I was having a piece of fish and it almost made me puke. I felt so disgusting. I refuse to pay for my food. They were kind mad to me,it seem like I wanna have free food. I think someone have to take care this place dont make more people sick. I really feel bad about this place. And I was drove pass this place today. It was closed down today . I was talking to friend of my. They told me the health department force they to close because their fishes was bad and make a lot of people sick. I really appreciate who was worry about our health.
