I usually have good experiences at Millies but tonight I was so disappointed I dont know if Ill go back. I am starting to get the sense that "Millie" is just a namesake of decades past, and her business philosophy has been stripped of all its mom-and-pop dedication and hometown customer service. Ill explain: The girl at the counter must have been new... she got my order wrong and charged my credit card $7 more than it should have (they charged me $7 for 4 waters... a mistake, which is fine... she hit the wrong button.). She read me the order and it sounded perfect. (We didnt order the typical combo meal order, which I think got us into this mess in the first place.) They voided the transaction and put a new transaction through... (And still charged me 40 cents for water!). I sat down and a few minutes later, they deliver a tray missing one item. I look at the newly printed receipt (sans $7 water) and an extra burger I had ordered originally is not on it (and of course, not on the tray). I go up to the counter and tell her I had ordered another burger and instead of saying, "my mistake, Ill get that going for you." she went back through the order history to try to prove to me that I hadnt ordered the burger... where I distinctly remember the first girl verbally confirming that there was an extra burger on my order. Can I prove any of it? No, because when the first girl messed up my order with the water thing, the second stole back my receipt, and then when she checked the new receipt for the missing burger, she kept that one too. She was about to ring me up for another burger. Yeah, Right. I said screw it, forget about it... So I sat back down, very peeved, and watched my wife and children enjoy their food as I sat hungry, with a few shared bites from their food, of course. The part that gets me is that they did NOTHING to rectify any of it.. When there was a problem, everyone stood there frozen. Nobody went above and beyond to make a guest happy. That isnt an individual thing. Thats a managerial thing. The staff is trained to collect money and produce food. When there is a problem in that workflow, thats too bad for the customer because they arent told to make it right. They are trained to collect money and produce food. Then when my order is wrong, instead of taking my word for it, or asking the first girl if she remembers putting an extra burger on my tab... she is trained to collect money... She tries to ring me up for a second tab to pay for an extra burger. WRONG. Have you heard of customer service? "Give em the pickle!" (look up the video... you could learn a thing or two!) Other clues: Charging paying customers for water cups? $.25 fee for credit card transactions under $3.00? At $3+ for a single burger, you are swimming in money. You dont need to charge paying customers for water cups! Especially if you screw up my order! My wife has worked in the customer service industry as a supervisor and believes strongly in good management focusing on creating a happy and rewarding experience for the customer. That was her joy as a workaholic for years. We know mistakes happen, we know even bad nights happen no matter where it is. What we also know is that how you handle those mistakes and bad nights is what makes the difference in whether you have return customers as well as simply lightening someones day. Shouldnt all businesses and people be in it for helping those around them have a better day? This is an easy fix as long as there is a mindset change. Everything my little family ordered could have easily been purchased at Arctic Circle or Apollo Burger (though my wife says Millies shakes are the best in town), but I believe in buying local, and I want to support mom-and-pop businesses, but Oh wow, with such lack of customer service, a blackberry cheesecake shake from a franchise instead sounds a whole lot more appealing.

The service that Id received at Millie Burger was interesting. I took my time and sat down so as to not have the worker wait indefinitely. When I was ready, I asked about a few options and then ordered my food. I saw the worker as just slightly colder than indifferent. No smiles, warmth, or an effort to converse. I asked another lady, shorter with light circular bronzed glasses if they had a restroom. She simply replied with "No." and then returned to what she was doing without a hint of remorse or sympathy for the lack of facilities that Id received at similar places. The fries were greasy and floppy so it wasnt very exciting to try and dip them into the complimentary fry sauce. The hamburger was ok, but it was soaking the bun and causing it to be soggy. If the service was a bit better, I could overlook their lack of customer service. Came back and they still frown and no smiles.

We were hesitant to try this place because of the poor reviews we read but on a whim we decided to try Millies. The service, despite what a lot of the reviews say, was pretty good. The workers were friendly and very accommodating. The cashier seemed new but was assisted right away since we had a pretty complicated order. But no matter how annoying we were trying to decide what we wanted they were very patient and sweet about it. We ordered a mushroom swiss/cheddar burger with bacon, a butterfinger shake, a taco and english style chips and everything was delicious! We even tried playing the arcade machine where you guide the claw to grab a stuffed animal and we won a prize! Overall, we liked this place enough to put a good review over the bad ones. Thumbs up for me and my wife, Millie... and our dog. :)

As I walked into Millies, I ordered a coconut milkshake. The cashier suggested that I get the pinacolada flavor, I politely declined stating that I am not a huge fan of pineapple in anything. I then get my shake and discover that they have just put vanilla ice cream and coconut bits together and called it a coconut shake. I then approach the cashier and tell her that the shake tastes like vanilla ice cream with coconut bits mixed together. She agrees with me, and I continue to tell her that it does not taste like a coconut shake. She apologizes and says that she can add pinacolada flavor into the shake, even though I told her I didnt like pineapple from the get-go. I cannot believe I just spent $4.09 on a vanilla shake, and didnt get offered a new one.

Weve lived in Sugar House for 5 months now and just barely got around to trying Millies. Im upset we waiting that long because I could have had an extra 5 months of Millies in my life. I got the cheeseburger, my husband got the bacon jalapeno burger. I basically inhaled my cheeseburger. It was so fresh, so tasty, and my mouth is watering thinking about it right now. We got french fries and onion rings as well. The french fries tasted like homemade french fries and were so great. The onion rings were the best Ive ever had. The onions werent so overcooked that if you took a bite, the whole thing falls out. You could actually bite the onion rings and they were so great.
