We (extended family included) have been going there for over 20 years. We loved this place and went there almost every week. We loved the food and the portions we above average. The last 2-3 years or so they have changed. They updated the place and looks nice, but they started getting chintzy. For starters, you get 2 free (non-alcoholic) margaritas with every entrée and they would bring them out quickly. Sometimes the waitresses were really nice and would even bring out a third. Since the portions were pretty big, we would split it with our smaller children. We would both get a margarita during our meal. Not any more! You still get two, but you have to finish the first one before they bring out the next one, that really sucks. Now it get better. Since we were sharing an entrée, we would ask for a second plate. Well, now they are charging a $1.00 for every extra plate they bring out. What is up with that? The last thing that drove us away was they started raising their prices too frequently. Seems they would raise all the prices, but the more popular entrée, they would raise a little more. The menu prices that are listed, are out of date, add 1-2 dollars to them. Unfortunately we do not go there any more. We really liked the place and the waitresses knew us by name and even what we liked to eat and drink. Over the years we have referred hundreds of people to them. Not any more. They have lost our business. If they treat their regulars like this, they really dont seem to care about us any more. We now go to Cancun Cafe. They have good food and you can find coupons online, which makes it a lot cheaper than La Cocina. Sorry La Cocina, you had your chance and you blew it. Big time!!!

If you want delish Mexican done right with great service then La Cocina is the place for you! Weve been dining here for over 20 years. I requested their shredded beef tacos while I was in the hospital having a baby. We come here to eat FIRST after having been on vacation because we all love the food so much and have missed it. The fajita salad is stunning with its generous portion of meat and to-die-for homemade dressings. The chicken enchiladas with white sauce taste like something your grandma would make with love. One time when my baby was 6 months old we came for lunch-I opened a jar of baby food for him and he pitched a fit! He wanted the Mexican rice. Well, I learned my lesson! Bottom line-great food, great portions, great prices, great service!

This was a very disappointing experience. we started off with something black in our lemonade. then food came to the table with hair in kids meal. we got a new one. when we were finished eating. we then ordered fried ice cream which we started eating when we found a long hair in the ice cream and caramel. totally made me sick, The really aweful part is noboby seemed to be concerned with this situation. They almost seemed disgruntled because I was totally discusted. accidents happen but 3 on one dining experience. gross. i called and spoke with the manager today and he was totally rude to me like it was my fault these gross things happened to us. so beware. check your food for hair!! I use to like to go here. Not now!! I will steer clear.

My co-workers and I frequent La Cocina for lunch time. I didnt want to spend alot of money for lunch so I ordered the special written on the board. It stated pork burrito, rice, beans for $4.50. After I received my bill and went to ask "Mongo" at the counter why my bill said $7.50. He argued that the sign said $7 even though it clearly said $4. Even an employee of his agreed with me but seemed to back off from Mongo. We had crappy service via Mongo a few weeks back as well. I will never go back. It is not worth and there are a lot better mexican places around including Cancun Cafe.

Its been a family tradition for 15 years or more. Restaurants dont survive this long unless they are doing it mostly right most of the time. My favorite when we want to eat out on short notice without spending a lot. Weve also had good experiences eating there when lots of family are in town (they have a separate room for groups). I enjoy the seafood enchilada and chimichanga, but there are tons of options. This is not a restaurant where you take your girl to propose, but its an casual place for family and friends looking for a tasty meal at a value price.

Food was not as good as what I could have cooked at home. The least impressive experience however was finding about three dirty forks. When my friend and I called it to the waitresses attention, her comment was "we ran it through the dish washer". To top it off, when paying the bill the cashier smuggly said "so youre the ones with the fork problems huh?". Id much rather go to Cafe Rio or better yet Loco Lizard in Kimball Junction. Not only is their food much better but they have clean silverware :)

This place is great. We eat there about once a week. The food tastes great and there is plenty of variety. The portions are large enough that we always have to take some home with us. The service is quick and the atmosphere is that of a family restaurant. The prices are the best - about the same price as a lot of fast-food mexican restaurants but the food is much better. Best cheese enchilladas and tacos in town. We highly reccommend this restaurant to anyone who doesnt want to go away hungry.

We were regulars for about 10 years. We got to know the manager, owner, and the employees. We watched them run the good employees out, and then service went down hill. The food was OK, but they could not seem to get the menu right, and became very inflexible with simple substitutions (like a taco for a tostada). We have not been back, and have discovered other good restaurants to take its place. Eat at your own risk!

We have been going to La Cocina for a number of years. Its not a bad place to eat, but its also not my favorite place. The food is only just "o.k." I usually have the enchiladas and there always seems to be way more sauce than cheese. The last time we went we had to request the T.V. to be turned down because it was so loud. However, they do have great burritos and the chips and salsa are also a favorite.

The service and staff were terrific, but both entrees we ordered were the worst Mexican food we have ever had. We are by no means picky, but this was a fail on every level. The food was incredibly bland and tasted like they used the cheapest ingredients possible. If youre in the area, do yourself a favor and go to Lone Star Taqueria.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars. It isnt 5 stars by any means, but it is amazing for the price you pay! My boyfriend and I always spend less than $30 and have enough food for leftovers the next day. The staff is friendly, the wait is never too long and it is a fun atmosphere. Some of my favorite Mexican food in Utah.
