I just had to post this after seeing all these glowing reviews that, if you read very carefully, are obviously posted by employees and friends of this joint. The reason I have to speak out is because I have tried this place and I will NEVER go back there again! Why? Well, a co-worker at Rocky Mountain Power, recommended this pizza place to me and I decided to give it a shot and took my wife and two kids there in September. My son is 13 and my little girl is 8. We wanted to dine in but that was a huge mistake! First, the service was incredibly slow and 3rd-rate. I cannot believe that this place would offer dine-in because it is so dimly-lit and the atmosphere reminds me of a shed out back on my Uncles old homestead in Price! The chairs and tables are very cheap and not appealing at all as well as being dirty when we sat down. I really was not too upset until I got the pizza. My kids would not touch it because it was so soggy it looked like soup on cardboard. Seriously, how hard would it have been to drain a bit of juice from our veggie pizza? I guess too hard for this place. On to the next problem; the employees looked like they had not bathed or showered in weeks and their manners were atrocious! I tried really hard not to take it personally but I finally gave up when some young kid delivery driver started telling dirty jokes within hearing range of my kids. That was enough! We will never go back there again and we would recommend to you that you do not try it. You will be sorry like we are! This is definitely not a place for a family to go. I must say too, that the front of this place is a bit intimidating and dreary. The sign out front looks more apropeaux for a garage sale or a pawn shop! After our interesting experience, I got on the internet and did some research about this free wheeler place. After a bunch of leads and contacts and about 6 weeks, I got in touch with an original owner of this pizza chain from years ago who told me that free wheeler pizza was started by potheads and druggies because they could not get a delivery pizza back in the 70s or so. This guy wanted his name left out but told me he owned several of these shops and since he knows a friend of mine, he revealed to me that they used to use free wheeler pizza shops as a front to sell dope and other drugs! Great! This place is the descendent of a drug ring! Need I say more! Bruce R. Williams-SLC By the way, I am available as well, to testify to what happened to me in this joint. Just contact me via this site and I will provide any information you desire. These guys are incredible! They wont deny anything yet they accuse me of being fake! Give me a break!

Tonight, after my friend called me crying about having a terrible day, I went on Seamless to order some cinnabon snacks and orange sodas to be delivered to my friends apt. I live in NYC and my friend lives in Salt Lake City, so I had never been to Free Wheeler. I just searched for places that had decent ratings, and after finding some fun snacks that met the minimum order amount, I left a tip using the % button at the bottom of the Seamless app, assuming that would be fine (also knowing that my friend would probably tip more upon delivery). I called in to confirm my order and make sure I had ordered my friends favorite flavor of soda, and the guy on the other end of the line informed me that, "Were actually canceling your order." Confused, I asked why, and he said "because you didnt meet our minimum." I informed him that the Seamless app wouldnt have let me order if I didnt meet the minimum, and came to find out that, "listen man, you just didnt tip me high enough and Im not going to deliver for that much." I told him that it was a 20% tip and that my friend would tip him more at the door, but he said that, "you messed up man, so I already canceled your order." Before I could ask if I would be refunded, he hung up. I called into Seamless and of course they were appalled; they told me that unfortunately they could flag the restaurant but do nothing more. They suggested that I post this review, and here I am, in hopes that you all can learn from my mistake in ordering from Free Whatever. Adam PS - Did a little more digging, and I would sort these reviews in order from least to most favorable and read the bottom recommendations first. Soggy pizza and terrible customer service are recurring issues that would make this place my last choice in SLC.

Is anyone going to fall for this? Seriously, how many people would spend 6 weeks researching a business if they didnt have a personal grudge against the people running it? Please, read Bruces review and ask yourself "does this sound like the opinion of a rational person?" If the pizza really sucked that bad, just say it and move on. Even if this claim of a huge pizza-cum-drug-ring were true, why dredge up 35 year old problems with a business. One that incidentally has changed ownership several times since then. Then be sure to ask yourself "why is this person so adamant about me not even going there to try it?" Is Bruce really that concerned about your money? Is he more concerned about your health than the Utah State Health Department? Or could it be that on Facebook, on the owner’s own page he swore “Yes, I will continue to post wherever and whenever I can. I feel compelled to let people know the horror show that is Free Wheeler Pizza…. This is my game. You guys are just playing your roles. It is so perfect how easily this has fallen into place… I will see you go down...More to follow on review sites and FWP favorite sites near you.” For crying out loud, don’t fall for this garbage. Go down there and see for yourself, If things are as horrible as Bruce says they are you will know before you even open the front door.

I used the Yelp Eat24 system to order a medium pizza with gyro and fresh tomato. When the pizza arrived hot and within 35 minutes I was impressed. However, when I opened the box, no fresh tomato. I decided to use the Eat24 online support. I waited only a few minutes for a first response, but after an hour, I received the message "They just let me know how sorry they were to have missed out on your tomatoes." That was it. The pizza was good, but not what I ordered -- I wont be using Eat24 again and probably will not again order from Free Wheeler - there are plenty of the other pizza places.

This place is laid back. If youre uptight, in a hurry or prone to complain, Free Wheeler pizza may not be for you. The guy behind the counter seems like he probably has his PhD in physics, but decided a few years ago that hed be happier working at a pizza joint. The atmosphere is bare bones and no frills. The neighborhood is only a block or two off of South Temple, but it seems like a world away. The shop is located right next to a laundry mat, so if you spill pizza sauce on your shirt, you dont have far to go to clean up. The pizza was really good with a nice crisp sourdough crust.
