Whether the food is good or not, I cant say. But the management is TERRIBLE. I ordered online last week and when I went to pick it up, they kept claiming they didnt get the order and couldnt figure out what to do for us. The manager wasnt even in the restaurant, and it was one of the busiest nights of the week - by the time the staff had called him and he came into the restaurant, I had waited there for an hour. Meanwhile all of the seating hostesses and waitresses I came in contact with were extremely rude and snotty. When the manager got there, he informed us that there was simply nothing he could do for us even though we paid online ahead of time, and the best he offered us was to re-order the food and pay half price - for a $60 order. I was so mad we ended up just leaving and calling the bank to cancel the transaction. Dont know if the foods good like everyone says, but because of how badly the manager and staff treated us, Ill never go back. We went to Sitara India instead and the food was FANTASTIC, absolutely delicious, and only cost about 2/3 of the price we originally paid. Thanks for helping us to discover them, Taste of India... really owe you one for that. Thanks a bunch.

I have been in Layton now for 2.5 weeks for work, and the bittersweet part of departing is leaving behind Taste of India. Had to go tonight because Im flying back home, even though I ate there last night. Everything you expect from an Indian restaurant is done superbly here. The staff and (I presume) owners are wonderful personable folks. The food, is simply amazing. If you can handle it, the hot versions of both lamb rogan josh and lamb vindaloo are spectacular. The naan has that perfect lightness and crispiness, the garlic version is perfection. That perfect level of garlic and butter make it extremely savory without being too heavy. I prefer this perfect dinner with a Taj Majal beer, but it would be great with Kingfisher as well as the IPA that they have. My only regret: I never tried the chai. I have some work coming up in West Jordan, but I think I will stay in Layton for a Taste of India!

We did take-out, so I dont know how the service is, but the lady on the phone was very friendly. The food was okay, but I was pretty disappointed. If you are someone who enjoys real Indian food like I do, I wouldnt go here. The prices were what you would expect from an Indian restaurant, but there were lots of short cuts and cheap substitutions made in the food. I would say it was food court quality. The garlic naan just had garlic salt sprinkled on top, which was very unappealing. The plain naan was good. The strawberry and mango Lassi were super sweet and tasted and looked like they had a bunch of syrup in them. The butter chicken needed more cream/butter. I think this place has been too Americanized in a bad way.

Im working at Hill AFB on a 45 day assignment, staying at the Hampton Inn in Layton. I couldnt believe my good fortune when I discovered Taste of India next door--and they give a 10% discount to Hampton Inn guests. I have to admit to being a bit of an Indian food snob having lived in Birmingham, England where 50% of the restaurants are Balti (Indian). The items Ive tried at Taste of India are as good as the best Balti I had in the UK. I love the naan, aloo gobi, and chicken vindaloo. I also really appreciate that each of the items can be prepared mild, medium or hot. The food is so well seasoned Ill be eating there many times while in Layton.

I definitely recommend! The butter chicken was somewhat different in style than what Im accustomed to. It was tasty nonetheless. I ordered hot, but in my opinion it was mild. They had one level higher (very hot); I might try it next time. To add more spice they got me their "spicy paste". That provided a good boost. The Naan was delicious. Rice pudding was also a little different. It was more "soupy" than what I would consider normal. I probably wouldnt order it again. The service was top notch. It didnt seem as if there was an assigned server per table. There were at least three different servers that waited on me.

My wife and I just got back from Taste of India. Its our new favorite place! Its an authentic Indian dining experience. The decor is elegant but casual. Johnny and his wife were waiting tables with big smiles and pleasant conversation. He bowed in his turban several times throughout the meal to ask us politely if we need anything else. We really value the non-chain quality of the restaurant. We went for the Mali Kafta, which was made with cheese and can be spiced to order! The food arrived very quickly. Prices were very fair. They have many dishes that can be served Vegan, and a whole list of vegetarian options.

The food was pretty good for the most part. There was certainly plenty of it. I felt like it was loaded with filler though. Lots of rice, large pieces of bread, and an excessive broth-to-meat ratio. The salad dressing was not to my liking. It was made from some kind of yogurt and tasted almost sour. The lunch special was $10 which seemed like a lot of money to pay for a "special" and for lunch in general. It comes with lots of things though: a salad, your choice of two meats, rice, bread, and a desert. If that was lunch, a single dinner order would likely accommodate two.

Worst Indian food I have ever tasted in Utah. We drove all the way from Salt Lake City to Layton to try the "best of 2010 restaurant" but were totally disappointment. We had to wait for an hour in their little waiting area for our table to get ready, then after waiting for 15-minutes I had to get up and call the waitress over to get our drinks/meal ordered. Totally disappointing for a place that is recognized to be the best in town by City Weekly. Bombay House in foothill by far is the best Indian food to try that offers quality food and great service.

Sad to say this is probably the worst Indian food I have had. Not only is it seriously over priced ($17 for basic tika masala and naan bread), but the food is just not that good. The garlic naan is awful with garlic salt (really) overly sprinkled on regular naan and long hairs stuck on the naan... How long has it been sitting there to accumuate hair on it? Gross! The tiki sauce was bland and had no flavors to it... I was seriously disappointed. If you want a good Indian food pass up this place. Unless you really like an expensive way to make a turd.

I have sampled and dined upon Indian cuisine at many, many, MANY different Indian restaurants across the nation. Taste of India is the best. Period. Hands down. If you dine there or get take out, savor it. If you ask for a recommendation and do not like what you receive, then the Indian food is not responsible. You probably simply have other tastes. Be nice to everyone. It is the best way to be. I love this restaurant. The food is superb and the service and people who work there are kind, considerate, and excellent in every respect.
