Initial seating issue. When asked if we could move to a booth, the host opted for a dirty booth and then noted someone would clean for us. I declined another host noted it was okay to seat us anywhere she would make adjustments as patrons entered, of all of the seating availability, we were placed in the very back near the door... Our waiter incorrectly submitted the order, and upon correction did not wish to own up to his error. upon inquiry, I was informed by the cashier that I would have to pay for it regardless. The waiter then came forth and became confrontational in the main lobby before a location full of customers regarding the error made, no apology! I informed I am not arguing, and requested the manager. Management was equally disturbing, I explained that I asked for an order to go as well as the order placed, the to go order was never submitted instead the waiter requested that blueberries be placed in my waffles instead of blueberry waffles to go. Management then noted he could submit a new order to go,(no I am ready to depart not remain to have another order placed.) I requested that he remove the addition of blueberries added to my order in error, he agreed yet I would have to leave the remaining portion of uneaten waffles that I paid for with him as he could not allow them to be taken off of the premises. what in the hell, how are you going to charge me for a meal, and then tell me if you remove your error of $1, that I could not take the remaining portion of my meal that I paid $16 plus dollars for with me. when I mentioned this, he became confrontational and indignant as well before a location full of customers. Piss Poor Staff as well as Management and customer service. I will be certain to inform everyone that I know of color to not dine at this establishment. Whatever happened to customer service and treating the customer right???!!!

Almost dont want to write a review since this place is so loved by its patrons. That being said I dont think Ill willingly go back. The atmosphere was nothing special and it was rather crowded seating. There is almost always a wait to eat which would be understandable if the good was great, but I just didnt find it to be anything special. The pancakes tasted bland, yeah more of a home made feel then powdered water that youd get almost anywhere else, but nothing that I couldnt improve upon. The syrup is really what makes the pancakes better then other places. Not your typical maple. The taste has hints of vanilla and spice, but screams diabetes. I just dont think you can say a food is that great if you have to coast the original product in sugar. The staff was very friendly but did not come by maybe as much as we would have liked and when they did stop by it was so quick that they didnt see our glasses empty and offer a refill. Couldnt ask for one because or mouths were full. I also had the ranch breakfast plate which was a bit disappointing. The sausage patties were tough or gamey. The eggs had no flavour and were a bit soggy from being under a cover in the kitchen and the condensation dripping on them. I did not invest in the bacon but it was a generous portion and was apparently very good. The sausage gravy was not what I was expecting. When the menu reads country gravy and sausage I figured it was standard sausage gravy, however it was finally a different recipe. Im all for giving something your own flare, but its also nice to mention that on the menus description. I hate to be a downer on such a popular eatery, but it just isnt that good for the high prices they charge.

Magnolia Pancake Haus is the best local breakfast restaurant Ive been able to find. No matter what you get here, youre in for a treat. The biscuits are homemade, buttery, and flaky and pair well with their delicious and creamy white country gravy. The meats are spectacular: house (or "haus") smoked, cooked perfectly, and high-quality. The Magnolia browns, or hash browns, use to be much better (potato cubes but now shredded hash squares) but are still quite decent. The eggs, whether poached, fried, or scrambled, are always perfectly cooked. The omelets are on point. I love the sausage and cheddar and the bacon and cheddar omelettes. The Cajun or jambalaya omelet is a nice surprise, especially in San Antonio, but it doesnt match south Louisiana Cajun in style, flavor, or texture, of course. Some of the seasonal specials are fantastic. The breakfast scramble with cheese, sausage, onion, and garlic is amazing. As is the southern benedict with a grilled biscuit, pulled pork, jack cheese, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and bbq sauce. In short Magnolia Pancake Haus is amazing. Youll wait in line for at least 30 minutes, but its worth the wait. Currently, theres no other place I would recommend trying for breakfast outside of your kitchen.

This place has a great reputation. We only gave it three stars for a few reasons. They had a waiting room full of people and a whole room full of amply large tables. We dont care about their staffing, etc. etc. But to have a bunch of empty tables and people waiting for tables... The biggest thing we noticed was the most uncomfortable chairs of any restaurant weve been too. If you want to have a wonderful family breakfast, youll be pushed to leave much sooner by your body parts regardless of your size and this helps them turn tables faster. Pushing people to leave is not a suggested business practice. The pancakes were great but they serve a plate covering set of pancake with a tiny to-go container of butter fit for one piece of bread and a container of maple syrup of similar size. Two of these syrups were completely absorbed into the delicious pancakes. The problem is that it wreaks of cheap and hurried and that message is the opposite of welcoming. This was our first visit and our last sadly since we had such high hopes. We had great service, but the chairs were a deal breaker and the niggardly accompaniments just set a bad taste for the experience.

Im sorry, but the food was not worth the wait. (1hr 15min) The biscuits were very good, but they were extremely stingy on the gravy. The Eggs Benny tasted burnt, and when looking at the bread part of it, it looked like they probably burnt it, but tried scrapping all the black off, and served it anyway. Its my favorite meal, and I couldnt even eat it. (I gave it to my husband who eats anything, but even he said he could taste the burnt of it.) (and they were really stingy on the eggs benny sauce too.) I expected great fluffy pancakes...couldnt wait to see if they stood up to the promises. But they were a disappointment being thinner than normal. Dennys actually makes a fluffier pancake. The taste was ok, but nothing remarkable. I asked if my 3 yr old could get chocolate chip pancakes for her kids meal, and the server said yes.... only to bring out regular small pancakes with 3 chocolate chips thrown on top of each one, and charged me .99cents extra. Were not going back....just not worth the extremely long wait. (they did remove the cost of the eggs benny though).
