I went to see what all the fuss was about. They greet you as you walk in the door which is nice. I looked at the menu, made my order, then proceeded to the fountain beverage machine. The ice was melting so bad as it dispensed I had to hold back the ice to dump the water. The coke stared good then began to fail. So I dump then go to the other machine. Same problem with the ice and coke. Using a mixture of the two machines I finally got my beverage. I would like to point out when the dispenser began spitting carbon only, many associates looked my way but not one assisted or did anything. My order is called but its packaged for there vs to go as requested. I checked my receipt to verify I had not misspoken. The fries were good but cut pretty small. Now for the burger...disappointing. Not as juicy and big as in the picture. My best way to describe it is I paid five guys prices to get high school Cafeteria food. For the cost, it could be so much better. Apparently they give you water while you wait. I saw the water come up to the counter while I ordered but had no clue it was for me. You would think the cashier would tell me the water is for me when I told her I was there to try it out and see what the fuss was about. Glad I tried it so I can earn others its not worth the cost. Im sticking to five guys and that greasy sack of fries!!!! Im not sure what everyone is loving about the place. Yeah the burger is decent but its as thin as a cheeseburger from McDonalds. I see they are cooking it fresh but it was a good thing I ordered the double as I was able to taste some meat...not complaining in any way just giving my opinion. Prices should significantly drop in my opinion but it could be just me...

WOW! WHAT A BURGER! Whoops...wrong place. Seriously though, let me put the debate to an end...Whataburger is objectively better....and thats not just because Im a Texan and I love Whataburger..:) Okay, Objective Summary: Whats Good: 1. Price. Its fairly cheap...as fast food goes. 2. Burgers: Whataburger quality...which is good. If you like onion....its great. They put a big thick slice of whole onion in there. The first thing you smell when you approach the place is the onions. (this can be a bad thing if you dont like onions)....although...oddly enough...In-N-Out enthusiasts complain that onion is the problem with Whataburger...maybe Californian noses are more discriminating...I dont know. Whats Bad: 1. French Fries: They are dried out, starchy, insipid, and pale. Yes, they cut them fresh....but apparently, that doesnt make them good. Id prefer any other Fast Food joints fries to here. Dont believe me...try it yourself. Youre likely NOT to enjoy it. 2. Theres not much variety...and if you want to make your burger "animal-style" then youre just trying to make it taste more like a Whataburger and should probably go there instead. Conclusion: If youre from California, youll probably like In-N-Out better. If youre from Texas, youll like Whataburger better. If youre from New York...youd probably rather have a pizza.

Up to In-N-Out standards with the food, but not the service. I came from CA where the service was always good, not here...Bunch of high school kids working for them that dont see it as their job to know the menu and answer menu questions. I grilled a counter service employee after he wouldnt answer my milkshake questions. By the way, the milkshake was made from something like milk but no ice cream. It tasted frothy but not creamy and cost almost $3.50 for a little two gulp cup! The kids answer to my every question was a shoulder shrug and eyes glancing away. Who needs it? Ill take my business elsewhere thank you! This happened once before at this location with another high schooler. The Fwy 281 location is better, employees not as entitled. Hey In-N-Out, your restaurant is being commandeered by high school brats that treat customers like theyre trying to gain entrance to a members only club! Im taking my businesses to Chick fil A until this injustice is rectified!

sooo so so happy in-n-out chose to come to san antonio [the city that never seems to get any cool restaurants or stores]! although this location is pretty far out there, i appreciate having the option to grab a late night burger or shake and i wont complain too much considering the previous closest option was somewhere in arizona. service here is stellar although they can get busy and you might have to wait a little longer than at the typical fast food joint. but its always worth it! and unless you live super close, dont bother grabbing it to go and waiting to get home to eat your burger. its not the same! so much better when its hot and fresh. double double with extra veggies, grilled onions, and an extra toasted bun + animal fries + neopolitan shake. get in my belly! [oh and random side note, if you do plan on dining in, bring a jacket! its always freeeeezing in here.]

I guess its the regional factor that make the menu because only Californians eat this and say its the best. My friend who lived in San Diego was so excited when he heard that this place was opening up and raved about the food, and the "Animal Style" was the best. I finally went with him a few months ago and honestly I told him , that the only reason you like this is because it reminds you of home, because it was bad! The burger was SOOOO greasy and did not taste good at all. The fries were like hollowed out in the middle and tasted weird like cardboard or something. And "animal style" which is a nasty Thousand Island dressing, was not up to par...to put the kibosh on this, I rather had eaten a Big Mac and fries from Sick Donalds than eat that slop again.

I used to go to LA in the eighties and nineties and my first urge was to get a Double Double. All the other great food in Los Angeles was secondary to my favorite Hamburger experience. The most friendliest staff, the best damn cheeseburgers at any cost and it was always the cleanest place even in the roughest areas of LA, Im talking to you EL Monte. A shining, gleaming island wherever it was. Now San Antonio has its own and Im jealous, now that I am living in Philly and just passing through town. My Double double was excellent and so pretty I just wanted to admire it and have it bronzed. Cant In and Out send people to the rest of the country and give them a tutorial. PLEASE!

Great burgers, not expensive, small menu means the line moves quickly and its hard to mess up. Burger, fries, drinks, shakes, end of menu. People who complain about the fries dont understand how they are served by default is for mass public consumption. You cant un-season fries, so order them Animal Style, or just be ready to season them to your own liking. I liked the service much more when the people from California were helping to get things started, but its not poor. You can just tell the difference based on the enthusiasm and the way they communicate. Ideal place for a quick burger, way better than other fast food. Doesnt give you that gross sinking feeling.
