My wife (who is from the Philippines) and I decided to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary by going to eat some Filipino food and to watch a Filipino movie with our favorite Filipino stars (Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo) in Cant Help Falling in Love. We chose to eat at Filipino Express which was near the theater we were going to and arrived at the restaurant at 12:45pm. We placed our order for some dishes we wanted to try and that my wife knew about and I had heard of from watching the Filipino TV shows and movies I had seen during the 5 years we have been married. There were only 2 families in the restaurant which arrived just a little after we had arrived and placed our order. As we waited, I noticed that more people were arriving and picking up to-go orders that either they had placed earlier or had phoned in. About 1:15pm, we still had not received any food we ordered as the lady cooking the food was preparing the to-go orders ahead of our order and I began to get a bit anxious as our movie was going to start at 2:35pm and we needed to be at the theater 30 minutes early so I told my wife to tell the man who was taking the orders and working the register to make our order a to-go order. Finally, about 1:45pm, our order was ready to be picked up and we put it in the car inside a thermal bag that would keep the food hot. My wife informed me that while we were ordering, the lady cooking the food told her that we needed to order our food faster because she has lots of customers. I was like, "Really? Seriously? We ordered quickly enough but the lady who then handed the order book to the guy who continued taking our order was not able to write it down as fast as we were giving it." The guy was very nice and was doing all he could to get our order and to fill orders. After the movie, we rushed home to eat the food we had ordered and we were very excited to do so. Upon arriving home, my wife began opening the food and upon tasting it, she said that the food tasted as if it was not fresh and some of it tasted very salty. I tried the food myself and understood exactly what she was talking about as the food tasted like it had been prepared before for some other customers who did not eat it, then refrigerated, then reheated and served to us to eat. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially to my extended family in the Philippines, as I feel that they would be very insulted if I recommended this place to them to eat and even I will never eat here again or even allow my wife to eat here again as I feel it would be very insulting to her to let her eat the food that this place prepares and serves. I have eaten Filipino food in the Philippines and even at another restaurant that serves much better food than this place prepares and serves and that place even charges less money for their food than this place does. If you are looking for way better and much more delicious Filipino food that is less expensive, then you should visit My Chockdee between Pat Booker and Aviation Blvd. in Universal City near US Highway 78 and Randolph Air Force Base. My Chockdee is located right behind the Shell station. We do plan to try Deco Cafe Filipiniana located on Fredericksburg Road and had planned to eat there yesterday (Sunday, April 30, 2017) but they were closed due to a water main break in the area but they have a much higher rating than Filipino Express at 4.3 stars where Filipino Express has 3.5 stars (which may be lower after this review is posted). Also, Filipino Express should seriously consider removing "Express" from its name and changing it to "Turtle" as that is about the speed that they operate but perhaps a turtle would go faster than they do, so maybe "Sloth" would be more appropriate.

Food was okay but awful service. They overcharge me and then have the nerve to make it seem like its my fault. I ordered one order of egg rolls. Im 90% done and they bring me another order. I was like no I didnt order another. So they say okay and take them back. Then another lady comes and says you ordered these. I was like no I didnt I already got the ones I ordered. So she takes them back. Then at the end when we go to pay for our food, the lady reads back to me my order and she says two orders of egg rolls. I tell her again I didnt order two so she says okay and then charges me for my food. I check my ticket and what do Uou know she still charged me. Then as Im checking my ticket I see a $2 fee for custom amount. And Im like what is this? They say its for the combo plate. Im like it doesnt say there is a charge for that on your menu. The pancit say $7.00 for the food and you choose your meats. Okay. They say it does I point to it and it doesnt and then he says your right it doesnt but its common sense though. Im like no whats common sense is that you tell people on your menu what they are paying for. Then the cook starts yelling its just a dollar. We arent trying to get rich off your dollar. Im like its not just a dollar first you over charge me 7.00 for egg rolls and then some two dollar fee that no one said anything about or was it listed on your menu. The cook is yelling to the man charging me not to argue with me just give me my stupid dollar. I cant believe there attitude and still they keep telling me its common sense and no one had ever complained about this. It wasnt even the dollar that I was pissed about it was that stupid egg roll charge. I will never go back there again. I would never recommend this place.

Ive been to every Filipino venue in San Antonio and even some in Houston and I have to say, of ALL of the 5 or 6 choices available here in SA, this is by far the BEST Filipino food. They offer the most extensive menu of freshly-made Filipino food. Eating there for dinner is like going to my nanays or titas house. They are so friendly to be around and cook right in front of you. Its as if you are in the kitchen watching your nanay cook. And the food is better and fresher than any other Filipino restaurant in SA. As if that werent enough, they have an awesome Karaoke and dance club at night with beer, food and a huge variety of people of all ages...old and young! Its just like in the Philippines. Finally, not only is it the BEST food and the MOST fun Karaoke, but its also the CHEAPEST! Both the food and the prices are really great, better than Sari Sari, Mekeni, Lillys and Rice put together!

Do NOT EVER think of going to this place. Im absolutely not going to recommend this place at all. I am always very proud of talking about how good filipino food is to my co-workers, but when me and my boyfriend went to have lunch at this place, I was so embarrassed on how they serve the food.It looks like everything was left over. Their desserts are not appealing at all ( one or two pieces on each plate) There are not a lot of choices. Its just horrible. They are recycling the food. whoever owns this place, Sir /Mam you are in United States of America... if you are trying to save money by recycling your food, you better think about it. If one of your costumers got food poisoning, you are going to lose your "BUSINESS". As we were leaving that place, I told my boyfriend I am not going back to that place ever. I almost reported that place to the DSHS.
