Soft Opening - As soon as we sat down at the bar, we were greeted and offered an appetizer of raw oysters which we readily accepted. Ice cold, plump and juicy, these bivalves were top notch. Then, as if on cue, our phone buzzed as we slurped the last oyster down to be escorted to our designated table. We were seated towards the center of the restaurant and in line with the front door that had been blocked off with a "training session" sign. The sweeping green vine pattern of the carpet and the openness of the dining room reminded me of one of the grand old hotels in N.O. French Quarter whereas the other location has more of a lush, green courtyard vibe like you might find on Chartres St. The romantic ambiance provided by the soft light from the gas lamps was carried over from the other restaurant, but they were strangely augmented by modern theatre lights which provided muted illumination for each table. Once seated we were quickly greeted by our waiter Guillermo who handed us menus and explained that we would be ordering one entrée from “column A” and one from “column “B”. Actually, there were two different pages of entrees that we were allowed to pick only one from each. I was more than delighted that my favorite, red snapper ponchatrain (now with a tarriff of $34.95), was available for one pick. The other pick was mostly from fried selections and we chose the fried shrimp. We were also allowed to select an appetizer from either mozzarella sticks or shrimp cocktail. No hesitation there . . . it was the shrimp for us. The pace of the dining room was frenetic and reminded me of the scene from the movie “The Polar Express” where the youngsters were served hot chocolate by an entourage of acrobatic waiters all juggling trays and making trips from point A to point B with great alacrity.. No acrobatics here though with the exception of tray dodging and table weaving. The wonderful hot bread baguette that they serve was soon sitting on our table with plenty of whipped butter. We devoured that loaf and requested more. Then the shrimp cocktail arrived with perfectly boiled shrimp on a bed of ice. That rapidly disappeared with the aid of some “horsey” fortified cocktail sauce. Great start! As the wait begin to grow longer and our bread foraging begin to occupy a larger and larger part of our available meal capacity, the waiter appeared and made a vague allusion to getting the order wrong and that it would take a bit longer before we were served. O.K. Since we are not ones to eyeball oral equine generosity (you know . . .the gift horse in the mouth thing), we resigned ourselves to smile, relax and eat more bread to assuage our growing appetite. But, oh was the wait worth it! I can still taste that mild flaky white fish fillet, moist and tender on top with just the slightest crispness on the bottom, smothered in unctuous brown butter sauce that yielded just a hint of lemon and was crowned with a number of crab claw meat chunks and 4 mildly spicy grilled shrimp. Served with their savory dirty rice, outstanding! The fried crustacean dish consisted of 8 oh-so-crispy, butterflied shrimp with the wispiest of crusts like a fine panko style breading. Wow! The only downfall was the slightly over done, but very generous bed of fries.

If it was not for our waiter Diego the star count would be lower. The hostess seemed a little overwhelmed at where to sit people. It didnt help that the bus boys were moving slow to clear table space for waiting customers. It was kinda irritating to see two tables sitting right in front of us just needing to be cleaned. Now the food....I can see some more possible cooking training for some of the personnel. Catfish should not be as crunchy as a Ritz Cracker. That means its over cooked. The grits, lets just say I could have repaved FM 1604 potholes easily. My daughter chose red beans and rice. Now this is supposed to be made with kidney beans and not sweet PORK N BEANS. Dont get me wrong we have eaten at many Pappadeauxs but this one has potential, but some training is missing and thats managements fault. A beautiful place and a good waiter saved the star count. So management should thank Diego for that. PS. The food was well overpriced

Pappadeuxs was on point as always. Got there at 5:15pm. Not crowded and was seated immediately. The food was fresh and delicious. Now for the BAD part. Our waitress, Alexandria P, was horrible. She didnt ask if our checks were separate. We asked for water and she signaled for us to wait. We ordered extra dinners to go and she put them in the same bag even though we told her we were on separate checks. Didnt offer dessert and was just not helpful or friendly at all. I will be completing their online survey as soon as I get home. I gave her a tip but after all that, yes, I scratched it out. I work hard for my $ and I deserve good service. I dont know where they get these kids from but they really need re-training.

Our first time here was for my husbands birthday and we got there an hour before closing on Friday. I was pretty picky and wanted it to be special. Our server Diego made it happen making suggestions for what to order, and was courteous, professional, and quick to return. The food was top notch -- we ordered the Pappadeaux Platter with spinach and the new Barramundi with Jumbo Shrimp and butternut squash. Everything was hot, fresh, and in ample quantity. We had the praline cheesecake for dessert, and it didnt disappoint! Its got a really nice spice, comes with candied pecans, and isnt too sweet. If hes working, you should definitely ask for Diego as your server. You bet your buns were coming back!

Usually Im a fan of Pappadeaux but we had a party there this past Thursday and let me tell you. We were seated at 630 and were forgotten. Mind you we were only a party of 15. Ordered drinks and no drinks were brought. People who were seated 30 mins after us got drinks before we did. After seating for 30 min we ask for our drinks and some complimentary bread and the waitered rudely SAYS "well you havent asked for it so havent brought it ." By this time managers were involved and This seem get the ball rolling just a little. Needless to say we finally got our food after waiting almost an hour and a half later . Hopefully this doesnt happen again cause I love their food.

This was my familys first time to this restaurant. The food was very fresh and overall a nice seafood restaurant. The only down side was that the service was so-so , almost close to being bad but not quite. My family and I waited for a table for 1 hour 45 mins. We waited 10-15 minutes for drinks after being seated (10 minutes for refills), waited 20-25 minutes for appetizers, but we didnt get utensils until the waitress saw me using the bread as a utensil. Our waitress thought that the hostess who sat us down to our table gave us our utensils :/ About 15 minutes after getting our appetizers, we got our entrees. Because the food was good, I give it 4 stars :)

Service / kitchen blunders happen and mistakes are forgivable, but management not fully owning or accepting a bad experience for a customer and their family is not. Our toddlers food, which was ordered first and supposed to be expedited, finally came with our entrees after about 50 min. Out appetizers came about 5 min before that. Again, I understand mistakes and bad nights happen, but management not taking upon themselves to semi right the wrong by comping our ticket or even half of our ticket shows me what kind of service this restaurant is willing to give. We will likely never return.
