So, I just moved here, and I read the reviews and figured why not try this place. Well, THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! The food isnt much better. I was greeted and sat at the bar. Which I thought was nice, at first. I sat at the bar which was empty and enjoyed the vibe. The staff behind the bar did there own thing... The bartender Cylest with her awful red lipstick and gross fake eyelashes went about her business eating her breakfast and sipping her coffee out her precious straw. TIM was nice and eager to help me, however, he was soon interrupted and ordered to do something else other than help a customer (me). Anyways, I watch Queen Cylest still eating, starts assisting people that stand in front of her golden register and begin to bark asking people what they want. Once she is done, I ask her do I need to go on the other side of the bar to get assistance? She said yes. I said, ok, I didnt know that because this is my first time here. She said ok, yea, sorry, I should of told you. I said yes, Im new. Im thinking, because guess what, you suck. I place my order(egg benedict) with Tim now, and it comes out soon after. Oh what do you know, my order is wrong. I ordered one sausage and one ham benedict. I got one ham and one salmon which appeared to be raw. Well, I got Tims attention, told him of the mistake. He immediately asked what can I do? I asked him to just discount it since I only ate half. Then came Mr. KEN. He took $3.00 off. How nice of him. Well, here I am sitting at the bar watching this all unfold shaking my head, wondering, what is the hot item? Im not impresed. -Dont be fooled-

Will never come here again. Was packed and the line was barely moving. Felt like a theme park. Only 1 person at the bar taking orders. Which oh by the way, you order first then take your seats. Unless of course, you know the owner or an employee and waltz right in, sit down, and they bring you a menu. After waiting about 45 minutes to get up to the front of line and having made up my mind on what I wanted to eat... guess what! "Oh no we ran out of potatoes" and thats 1 of the main ingredients in the cowboy dish that my wife and I both wanted. Nevertheless, they allowed us to substitute bacon instead. Ok thats fine, but wait, theres more! We go outside since inside was packed and outrageously loud with people once again acting like they are at a theme park playing that silly game where you put your phone up to your head and people try to make you guess what it is... smfh! Whoever said outside was nice must of been high. It was disgusting! No landscaping, broken tables and chairs that were very uncomfortable. Not to mention, stray animals walking about, and last but not least, an empty pond with only the Lord knows what inside. Heres the kicker though, we finally get our food after about another 30 minutes. Literally! No exaggeration here!!! Not only was it cold but the smallest portion meal I have ever seen. I would of rather paid double or make another order of the same thing just to get a full meal. It was ridiculous to say the least. Thanks for nothing Candlelight! Good luck to anyone and everyone that wants to give this place a go and just waste their time and money.

I am a regular at the cafe, always had great experience there but unfortunately my fiancé and I had a horrible experience with the "manager" as he called himself. Didnt get his name but he made it very clear we were not welcome there. We ordered our drinks along with our meals and the gentleman informed that they only had unsweet tea which he repeatedly told us after my fiancé had just asked for a coke instead, he had such a bad attitude that he stated that "we are just not connecting" in response she asked him if he was okay being concerned bc of his rude attitude. I payed and then he yells that my card was declined.. If he would have checked the receipt it stated " no dial tone" the wifi was not working and he made no effort to even try it again. My fiancé literally showed him our account to prove it was not our account. He answered rudely " I dont know what to tell you" Every time we needed something he had a rude gesture to make or would turn his back to us. I finally got tired of his behavior and asked if I could speak to the manager, he exclaimed that he was the manager and that he would be talking to him/her about "us" which made no sense when he was so defensive! I ignored what he said and just asked for a phone number to reach someone in charge. He pointed to the business cards and stated " its not going to matter I already put in my two weeks" and laughed and continued to be a rude jerk. I love this place but they need to get this guy out.

I have been coming here off and on since this place opened, but my visit last night will BE MY LAST. Service was horrible. Sat at the bar and was ignored by 2 bartenders who saw me when I came in. They would check on other customers at the bar, but I did not exist. Finally asked to see a wine list. My wine pour was rather short. Especially after I noticed pours that other customers were getting. Favoritism. And then I look over to the bar seat next to me and there are roaches crawling on it. No telling where the rest of the roaches are? Kitchen maybe? How does a restaurant get 4 1/2 stars with so many other complaints that I have read? The citys restaurant inspectors need to check this place out. There are many BETTER places to go in San Antonio than this place. Adios Candlelight.

Their system is very odd and confusing. I arrived at 10 on Sunday hoping to get table for my group still on their way. but you have to order at the bar before getting a seat. Everyone lined up around the bar, sharing just the few menus scattered across it. The line took 30 minutes to get through (in their defense, I think it was partially due to inconsiderate customers joining their friends in line). The food was pretty good and it came out quickly considering the crowd. I wish I would have gone for the bottomless Mimosas, because I got a tea and I did not feel like waiting in that line again for a refill. Liked the food, but their way of doing things in not thought out very well. What if I were to stand in line and order food, only to find out there are no more tables?

This place is awesome. First, know theres an order to this place. Good food comes with responsibility, order first and then find your table or seats. Be early for brunch because thirty minutes before opening theres a line. I havent experienced a bad meal, or bad service. The owner never stops checking on his patrons. The orange couch is the most comfortable one in the place to move and let your meal settle. Brunch is what Ive experienced. The seasonal pancakes, French toast, and waffles are amazing. Eggs, omelets, and quiche are on par with what you would expect from The Four Seasons. Portions are perfect with bacon, ham, or steak. The rosemary potatoes remind me of Thanksgiving day. Have fun!
