This was only my second visit to BCC and first to the new location. Parking is super limited, so park a block or two away and walk yer happy little but over here. Okay, now youre in the door. Notice that great aroma? Yeah, take another deep breath. This...is...coffee...heaven. Yup. Nirvana. Ambiance is clean and simple. Staff are super laid back, very knowledgeable, and nice. They helped me pick out 3 bags of beans (see photo). Halfway through bag 2 and I can say this is amongst the richest, most full-bodied coffees Ive ever had. We grind our own beans (yes, coffee snobs) quite finely. Brewed in a prosumer-level espresso machine at a 25-second pull results in as good an espresso as Ive ever had. The crema is incredible. The flavor is deep. Its almost like cocoa. Super wow. Ive run out of superlatives. Will...no...must return!

Thought I was in the "Portlandia" of coffee shops. I am a coffee connesouir, my usual drink is a quad 12oz latte with whole milk. Basically a big espresso with a little milk. I ordered my coffee and was given a lecture on how "they arent like other coffee shops and dont even have a condiment bar" they "only make whats on the menu and they only have lactose free dairy milk." I went with the flow and wound up with a coffee not strong enough to my liking that was sweet because lactose free milk is super sweet. There was also nobody else in the place. They will put themselves out of business unless the are at least a little bit flexible to guests needs.

pro: good coffee, not crowded, clean bathroom, nice street view, local business, agreeable ambience con: bad service (dudes forgot my order...had to remind them after 15 minutes...they were just standing around when I reminded them - really bad 1st impression for me, therefore only one star), limited choice- no latte breve (no half and half) or heavy cream mixes (so I guess theyre too purist for that), limited parking, background music was all the same artist (so if you dont like it youre stuck) Ill risk the crowd at Rosella next time...scenery is better there anyway. Otherwise Ill reluctantly just go to Starbucks.

Friends told me this coffee roastery was the best in San Antonio, and I was not disappointed by the bright, clear flavors in the peaberries that I bought. Each single country of origin beans are distinctly roasted. The location is nearby the Pearl Brewery complex where there is ample parking in contrast to the limited on-street parking near the coffee shop itself. This is one of two locations in San Antonio and its has more extensive weekend hours than the original location. Brown Coffee Co recently collaborated with the nearby Granary Brew & Cue to brew a coffee porter that was equally awesome.

It was a long first day in San Antonio. Trying to kill time while Fedex dug our bags out of the trailer, we were desperate for good coffee. Browns did not disappoint! A little hard to find because of its size, this tiny joint could easily fit into Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The coffee jockey was a craftsman and my espresso with steamed milk was the best Ive had anywhere (INCLUDING Brooklyn, hear that hipsters?). In San Antonio for a day or the rest of your life? Youd do well to stop here for a cup o joe.

Hands down the best tasting coffee in San Antonio (and I could even say Austin). The menus is very simple and there is not a lot of room to sit but they are coffee fanatics and the process is highly controlled from growing the beans to brewing the coffee. I pretty much buy my whole beans exclusively from Brown now and I always try to pick up their newest variety. If you are interested in the meticulous science of coffee, you will want to visit Brown.

Second trip here (in on business from Austin) to intentionally detour here just for a cup. Both times, baristas choice; both times an exceptional cup. If youre looking for a long menu of coffee varieties (most of which seem "dust flavored") or a long menu of espresso drinks (I.e., melted ice cream), skip this place. If youre looking for an exceptional cup, ethically sourced, properly roasted, and brewed like God intended; then youll love it here.

My favorite coffee shop in San Antonio, hands down. Actually, its my favorite in any city. Its not your normal coffee shop. You really have to appreciate the way they prepare it. If you love coffee, and are down for having it prepared the way the particular drink is "supposed" to be presented, you will dig this coffee shop. Might not be right for you if youre into the usual cream/sugar drugs, but give it a shot!

Brown Coffee is one of my favorite stops in San Antonio. Now, full disclosure, Ive only had their cortave and lattes. Ive actually yet to have their coffee, for some reason. I guess, its usually because I just get the same thing all the time. That being said, if I could have someone personally follow me around and just replenish my cortave during work every day, Id be a happy, wired man.

Coffee was quite good. I had a Kenyan single origin pour over. Ive been to Bali and I dont chase Civets around to collect their droppings and claim "best ever", so I asked for milk. I almost sufferd a beating (JK). I really enjoyed it w/o. Worth $6? Maybe. Place was nice, the girl that served me was cute, and it was a beautiful day. Thats good enough for me

Was in search of coffee and hit two closed shops for the holidays before I ended up here. Just wanted a damn good cup of coffee and thats what I got. Barista recommended a Colombian Laurencio pour over and it was bomb. It gave me instant mental clarity so I know it was good. That or they laced it with something. Come here to get your mind right!

They put a huge block of ice in your iced coffee to prevent your drink becoming watered-down. Genius. Also, they carry Mexican coke and Topochico. Double Genius? YES... They dont carry any dairy product ( half&half, creamer, etc.) except for a lactose free milk... But I cant complain because I really enjoyed my iced coffee :)

Had high hopes. Coffee was below average. And wow, $9 for a pour over blend of a Kenya/Costa Rica.. Thats just insane.. Maybe a Geisha is worth that or something similar. Coffee was flat with little sweetness. Not on par with Heart, George Howell, Ruby, and such. One positive though.. Beautiful place

Top coffee shop Ive visited in San Antonio! They dont have a lot of fancy drinks, but they know their coffee. As a fellow "coffee snob" I was extremely impressed! I got 2 pour overs and loved them both. The barista was very knowledgeable and talked to me about coffee for almost 30 minutes.

Brown is greatt; best espresso Ive had since returning from New Zealand. My barista(owner?) definitely knew his stuff and prepared an excellent flat white; the milk had the perfect, familiar sheen. My coffee was much more robust here compared to Mila, though I find both to be great.

The quality of the coffee and the brewing process are higher than average, but so are the prices. Its a dice roll if youll get one of the super pretentious baristas that will INSIST that cream and sugar dont exist in the building, even when you ask for black coffee.
