Barrio Barista is for sure my favorite spot on the west side. So I had been meaning to stop by for a long while since I pass by it every day on my way to work, and Im so glad I finally did. Its great to find a place that has meatless options where your non-vegetarian friends will also enjoy. I got the grilled cheese + tomato soup which were the bomb dot com. There is also free wi-fi so you can snapchat your lunch and all the cool art around as much as you want. I enjoyed this place so much I had to go back the next day to try the horchata latte! Best of all Gilbert is really friendly and helpful and didnt get annoyed when my indecisive friend couldnt decide whether or not to get barbacoa in his grilled cheese (he says get it). Do yourself a favor and explore all the cool local things San Antonio has to offer. Stop hanging out on the north side you wont regret it.

This review is to reflect my first visit to barrio barista an I have to say I can not comment on the pastries coffee or food this review is based solely on the service of the 60 seconds I was there. My wife my children an friends came to barrio barista to try there highly recommended grilled cheese an barbacoa . I called an was told the kitchen closes at 2pm Sundays an arrived at 1:15 an was immediately told the kitchen was closed an when I told the gentleman that I had called an was told the kitchen is open till 2 he then said orders are so backed up it would take an hour an a half I counted literally 6 people in the whole place. So as a small business owner myself I highly recommend reevaluating your employees because of this incident you lost 7 customers an I will definitely be sharing my experience with friends family an customers.

I have been three times and have always loved the food. I have ordered something different each time and they never disappoint. The cook definitely knows what theyre doing. The portion size is nice, you leave feeling full, not stuffed which is what I would expect out of a foodie-type place. It is well decorated but too cold for myself and my wife, thermostat is set at 69 degrees. The staff are all great and treat you well. My only recommendation is to get some nicer silverware, the forks and spoons feel cheap. Overall highly recommended. They need to raise their prices...I would still go.

Heres the thing about this place: the genuinely nice people who own and operate it. Sure, I think other places have better coffee, but this place is so inviting, it doesnt even matter. Gilbert and his dad are great! The dad is the cook and when I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, he brought it out to me. He talked to me like a friends dad would talk to me when I was growing up in my barrio, Chihuahuita. I tell everyone they should just go there! Experience old-fashioned, genuine hospitality at its finest!

Love this place. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is tremendous, the proprietors are kind and interested in the people who are coming to their store, and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is exactly the kind of coffee shop that you want to spend some time in, and exactly the kind of business that you want to support. If youre a student or a traveler in their part of town (like I was when they did me a huge solid), then you really need to take the time to check this place out.

This place is amazing. Literally amazing. The owner is great and very welcoming. I had the Horchata Latte(Hot) and the Grilled Cheese Barbacoa and avocado sandwich. The food and drink were perfect. Not to mention the genuine conversation I had with the owner. If youre in the area, you should stop in. Even if youre not in the area. Make the trip and come visit. You will t be sorry. I have yet to try the other food or drinks but I will be returning regularly.

Always in search of great coffee shops, caught my eye on the way to work so made a weekend visit. This place is the real deal. Barbacoa grilled cheese with avocado was off the chain!! They have great coffee/espresso /milk drinks and then some. Slowed-down atmosphere to just chill! The owner Gilbert who introduced himself is passionate about his business and treating his customers right and thats what makes it stand out. Definitely recommend this place!

WESTSIDE SPECIAL. Just do it. Barrios barbacoa sandwich is TDF, and the prices are very reasonable. Only downsides are that the coffee shop is way, way out there. In the sketchier part of town with a bunch of stray dogs. But its worth the drive! If you need to get work done, its a decent study spot as well. Their lattes are good too! Pro tip: Just make sure to call ahead as their hours are very limited and change pretty often!

I had the mocha frappe, and my fiance and I loved it. The place has a nice relaxed atmosphere that enables you to get a coffee and enjoy the space to read, work, study, or talk with friends. The owner is friendly and likes to engage in casual conversation. They are great at providing individualized customer service, but because the service you receive is personalized, it can take a little longer to get your drink/order.

Hands down the best kept secret of the Westside! Trod off the beaten STARBUCKS path for an experience you will be glad you never missed! Whether its your first time trying Barbacoa with Cheese on a toasted sandwhich or your HORCHATA CURIOSITY has pulled you to try their one of a kind caffeinated delight, you will truly fall in love with the ambience and charm only a father and son owned coffee house can bring to you!

Sometimes the best coffee shop doesnt only serve the excellent coffee, but it also brings the healing and reflections of own life. Coffee served by Gilbert, the owner of the Barrios Barista, does this job. If you want to reflect your own life and and have good horchata latte, this is the place to be. Also if you have a chance to talk to the owner, Gilbert he is a true blessing to your soul.

If you havent been here and looking to try something amazing and new, come here. The coffee is great and the food is amazing. The atmosphere is excellent. Staff is pretty friendly. There is this one guy that kind of got on my nerves and told me I should be drinking a big red zero instead of a big red. But he is just one bad egg out of an amazing staff and great food.

Very down to earth people and a great spot; not ay sosiega té at all. Come on in for a quick coffee fix or a fresh made meal or some paperwork time! My almost weekly dive in Old San Antonio! Try my favorite eats: pulled pork nachos or the barbacoa grilled cheese; yum! Y para tomar: Horchata latte (hot or cold) or Chai latte with a double shot!

Without a doubt, this place is going to be a major stop on the west side. I stopped by here as a passing curiosity and was blown away. Ive come back 3 times, just to be sure that it wasnt just luck. Each time a different menu item and each time I was thoroughly impressed. This could very well be the next BIG San Antonio based restaurant chain!
