The food is Ok but overpriced. They also add the gratuity automatically so they really dont bother with things like refills of your ice tea. I lived in Germany for years and know this is custom but Rowlett is not Germany Whenever you order desert they always ask you if you would like it to go. I know the object of a restaurant is to turn tables but when you are spending $$$ its nice not to be rushed. I visited a week ahead of my B-day party and asked if I could make reservations from the lady who works there. She said yes call the day before. I did and the man answered and said they never take reservations. It was too late to make reservations for a Friday night at my favorite German restaurant to the North so we went anyway. Me and 4 of my friends stood at the bar for 30 minutes. He wanted to seat us at 2 small tables instead of a larger one because one of my friends had not shown up yet. On my last visit my friends and I ordered shots of Jager we noticed that the shot glasses were four times the thickness as any shot glass we had ever seen, making the amount of Jager very minimal. We complained and the owner was very rude and said we were trouble makers. I told him to take it off our bill because we didnt want them. He refused. The seating is cramped and the atmosphere reminds me of a Jimmy Buffet album cover - I never understood what the thatched roof and coral had to do with German/Austrian food. I guess I never will since I will never go back.

I grew up eating tex-mex, italian, soul food, steak and potatoes, and all chinese food served at all you can eat buffets. As a kid living in a small town, I was always interested in eating meals custom to other countries - like the ones you would see on the travel channel. Meals such as french cuisine, brazillian bbq, indian, thai, sushi, etc... All of which were disappointing to say the least. German food was never on my radar, but that changed in 2006. That was the year I fist stepped foot into the Biergarten. Ive never had food or beer that tasted as delicious as what Ive been served here. From the schnitzels, to the pastries, to the Dünkel, and the home made glü wine, nothing has hailed in comparison as to what I have found here. Not only do you get the best food, you also get the best experience. The owner goes out of his way to make sure that his guests have the most personable and enjoyable experience while, he himself, serves you.

So....never been inside of here but I will NEVER come here again! My wife, a friend and I were coming in for drinks and dinner because we heard a lot about the place from some local Rowlett folks. My wife and I just moved in near this place and would have been regulars.....we arrived at 8:30pm when they advertise open until 9:00pm. We were walking up to the door as folks were leaving there and being walked out by an employee..that employee saw my party approaching the door and locked it....I am assuming because they didnt want to have to deal with us so close to their scheduled closing time....while I can appreciate that, this would NEVER happen at any other public restaurant..such a shame because we were really excited to go...

I dont think I can recommend this place enough. I came to Fritzls on a suggestion from a friend, and was not dissapointed! The owner Klaus is your host, waiter, cook, bartender and table cleaner! He is a HOOT. The Austrian and German beer s here ROCK and are served in a huge glass boot! The food... my goodness... it was some of the best food I have ever had in any genre. The wiener jager with cognac sauce made me almost faint it was so good! When you want a true European dinner experience with good food that will change your life, try Fritzls!!!

Best German food in Dallas hands down. 5th gen Austrian baker dazzles with real German food and homemade schnapps. Atmosphere is a Jimmy Buffet concert. Klaus is a fantastic host. Great beer selection. Desert is the bomb. Yes tip is included on the check... Theres only like two people that work there so the service is good for the amount of staff....... when the owner is finished cooking he comes out and talks to everybody and runs the bar. This place could not get any better. You must go this is absolutely the best German place in town!

I love this place. Klaus makes everyone feel at home and his restaurant is really just a eclectic dining room. The food is always great. I mean really good. My fiance wont eat sour kraut from anywhere else. Everyone weve brought has left very pleased. Good idea to call ahead since sometimes Klaus closes early. Also he is the chef, baker, host, and waiter. So if there are more than 4 tables dont expect fast service and expect to see Klaus running around crazy. Just relax and enjoy the company, beer, and food. Its very worth it.

Fantastic food, and desert. Oh man, the deserts alone are a reason to come here. Rumors say he used to be a desert chef on a cruise liner before he opened his restaurant. I heard a woman a couple tables over saying the schniztel tastes just like somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Germany. Fritzle pretty much runs the entire store, serving, cooking, and everything. Hes super friendly and will joke with you while taking orders and bustling about between customers. Make a trip out here, its worth it!

We started coming here as soon as we moved to the area because it was highly recommended by virtually every person we met and we cant stay away! The food is AMAZING. Im no stranger to authentic German food, and it doesnt get any better than this. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic (and always very clean!) and the owner is so much fun! Then there are the desserts and the homemade schnapps and the great beers.... I really cant say enough great things. Stop in, you wont regret it!!

Awesome food! The owner is also the cook, and hes one awesome chef. Everything is delicious, and if you manage to have room for desert, heck, even if you dont, get it! All desserts are homemade, so good youll simply not believe it. If you come in the winter, ask for the gluwein. It is a warmed wine, red, with cinnamon and stuff in it that is unbelievable. I was stationed overseas in Germany for three years, this is authentic German food.

Food is average. Service from this kid is painfully slow and I dont think they understand the concept of refills. Could have been such a larger bar tab had they have actually paid attention to us. Hardly no one is in here, but they still neglected a party of two. Not neglected enough to not charge the gratuity. Guess they need to make their money somehow.

My husband and I always come in for dessert. We have not been in yet for the food. This is right up my husbands alley as far as culture goes. Reading the reviews I dont like how some say that they charge 18% gratuity.... maybe well just stick to the pastries. The guy that runs the place is super nice very friendly. I suggest putting a menu up with prices.
