Read about this restaurant in the New York Post and just had to drive over and try it out. Since my husband and I were driving through South Dakota when I read about the shop, we pulled out the road atlas and made a change of plans on our trip back to Ohio. Adding a day and 600 mile to our trip for ice cream sounds completely ridiculous, but believe it or not, it was completely worth the drive. The flavors and textures were just like I remember from my childhood and havent been able to get in Ohio for a decade. My husband and I had blizzards in chocolate-dipped waffle cone, a cherry-dipped dilly bar, and two hot dogs. Everything that came out of the old-fashioned ice cream shop window was made with obvious care and exacting attention to detail. The prices were half or less than I would expect anywhere else. I even had a nice chat with the owner while we waited for our order to finish (through the window, of course). If you live in or are planning to travel through the Fargo, ND/Moorhead, MN area or any of the surrounding states, do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant.

The Moorhead Dairy Queen is practically the stuff of legend. Its so fun to visit the first time after the long winter. It is located on a noisy corner with quite a bit of traffic so plan accordingly when bringing Littles but there is plenty of parking and the treats are always great. Try the handmade dilly bars (no silly plastic wrapping here) or the chipper ice cream sandwich made with local cookies.

This is THE Dairy Queen. I will not go to another. They invented the Dilly Bar for goodness sake. Not only do they keep it classic here, they offer almost any blizzard combination you can think of. They get to bend the rules on what they can make! Go here. Do not hesitate. It will be the best ice cream experience of your life!

I once heard that this is the highest rated Dairy Queen in the nation, and they may be right. When open there is always a line. Their portions are always bigger than the regular chain stores. Ice cream is delicious. Staff is friendly and wait times (after the order) are pretty reasonable.

Only DQ in the area that still has butterscotch. DQ chill and grills or whatever theyre called stopped serving butterscotch a few years back. This place is also awesome because its been the same for years, no updated icecream or milkshakes with whip cream. Just the same DQ Ive always loved.

Cleanest DQ in town. I used to work here 15 years ago when in college. I also worked at the 13th ave store. This is the place to go. The owners really take pride in a clean well run store

Outdoor experience best done during spring, summer, or fall. I enjoy the food, and see patrons request unique variations. Good ice cream and staff. I can still get a raspberry shake here.

The last 3 times Ive ordered a blizzard it wasnt mixed all the way to the bottom. There was white ice cream visible on top so its obvious it wasnt mixed thoroughly. It wasnt busy at all.
