Nice ambience, clean and professional staff. Toilets are much better and cleaner than other Indian restaurants. Thats a plus point. Food taste, prices and freshness is really good. I would recommend this place for a family visit. We have been here couple of times and the food has always been made and served fresh and hot. Thats what is always the biggest factor, on my list of rating a restaurant. Sarvana bhawan gets a 5 on 5 from me for maintaining the same quality over multiple visits. We have tried Dahi vada, Sambar vada, Idli Sambar, Mysore dosa, plain dosa, Rasam and butter milk from the south Indian menu. In the north Indian cuisine, we have tasted Kadai Paneer, butter naan, stuffed naan and Gulab Jamun. Please note that since it is primarily a south Indian restaurant, you will have to wait a tad longer to see food on table, if you prefer the north cuisine. The south Indian food reaches your nose buds and mouth within minutes of ordering though. So, plan accordingly while you sneak through the menu. The taste has been pretty good for everything with special mention for the dessert. We seldom find the Gulab Jamun so soft, fresh and hot in other Indian places. The areas to improve would be to add a bit more options to the menu like Dal Makhni, Shahi paneer. But, the good thing is that whatever they have offered in the menu is what they are really good at. Offering hundreds of items with sub standard taste is what is also not good. I forgot to mention that their utencils are super clean too. No old food residues on steel based Thali and glasses that we normally see, if they have been washed in dish washer. Very good restaurant. Remember there is no buffet, only Thali is the option or food on order. They sell fresh sweets too. We have not tried but they do look fresh, full with Desi ghee.

Guy Picks His Nose And Then Handles Your Food....YUCK!!! Grossed out when I saw the guy handling and serving the food dig his nose in public and then went inside the kitchen.... Sept 3rd 2016 (Labor day weekend) I dont think I am ever going back to this place...too many issues with practically ZERO service and waits to get the entire order...and this nose picking thing was the straw that broke the camels back. How can you unsee what you see? You cannot. I only hope that this person went inside and washed his hands before he touched any food. I dont know if its good or bad but we had most of our food on the table by this time and just when we were thinking of ordering a couple of desserts...I saw the guy picking his nose. I am going to report them to food safety and public health authorities. Tardiness is almost unbearable but hygene is something that cannot be ignored. I am going to write about them in blogs, in social media and other foodie channels. These guys need to be shutdown. Just a few months back we were having lunch and one of the waiters spilled sambar on my collegues jacket... They were not even couteous enough to own up to their mistake. We had to call them out and thats when the manager said he would get it dry cleaned and have it ready for us to pick it up in a couple of days. I let that one slide...but since then, I have noticed that they have become more and more arrogant and what I saw was quite frankly shocking. I think we need to hold them up to a higher standard and if they cant then they need to fold and get out of Plano. I am planning to contact the manager and see what they do about this review. Will update the post soon.

Food was pretty good and staff was friendly and helpful in placing order but my Rava dosa came out thick and not "thin and crispy" which is typically how it is supposed to be and the menu also says so. I was disappointed when it came out so asked if I could switch for another thin Rava dosa. The waitress said she has to check with the Manager and the manager came back telling me that its exactly how it should be and if I wanted it more crispy I need to specify to the person taking the order. I showed him that the menu mentioned "thin & crispy" and the dosa I was given was super thick. FYI - A dosa that thick is called an "Uttappam" not Rava dosa!!! The Manager finally said they will replace it but the way he responded was like he was doing me a favor and not correcting the chefs mistake. It was just rude, unfriendly and poor customer service. After all that, I didnt even want to get it swapped out and feel like he was giving me free food. I ate a less than half and just ordered something else from the menu. It was a bad experience and I didnt even enjoy anything I ate. The hospitality industry is about how they make the customer feel and I felt horrible with this experience!! I also tried to contact the Owner Mr.Naga but I was told that he is busy in a meeting. I am sure they dont want him to hear such reviews especially when its their fault.

Pathetic Service, the people are not at all accommodating for supporting allergic guests. seems like the people at Saravana Bhavan are head strong. Had bad experience today(7/19), today we ordered cheese dosa but asked to provide cheese on the side, these people are so head strong that they will not do that rather indicated to go try somewhere else...so so horrible customer service. They don’t understand that we asking for kid and kid has allergic and we were trying to avoid contamination, still the head strong and rude server wasn’t accommodating at all in spite of telling them to charge whatever he needs to…..very frustrating experience….will never ever go there and will make sure that all our friends know about these kind of attitude issues with sarvana bhavan people. Will never recommend any one to go there if you care about customer service.

I have been to this place many times before but this experience us going to make me never to visit them again. The attitude of the manager who is also the owner was horrible. We waited for one and a half hour patiently. They got our order wrong multiple times, we were still patient. But after the 90 minute wait we were served with curdled chutney. We asked them to replace it but when our order arrived they served us with the same curdled chutney. This whole time we were waiting the manager didnt even visited our table once. When they served us with the curdled chutney for the third time, we were at our limit. The manager was showing us attitude and shouting at us. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. The corporate needs to step in and take some serious action to correct and get the service in line. Never going there back again.

This was our first time at this restaurant. I have been to this chain in Edison, NJ and remember its popularity. After some reviews had mentioned a long wait time, I was concerned when I saw the restaurant was packed. However, to my amazement, we were seated and order taken promptly. I expected the food would take some time, but it started coming out within the first 10 minutes. We ordered a variety of north and south Indian selections, and everything turned out very tasty. They even got my requested spice level correct. None of the food was lacking flavor or spice. As of this visit, I would rank this restaurant as one of my top 3 favorite vegetarian restaurants in Plano. We did not order desserts. The service was great. Suggest you go on a non-popular day or time if you want to avoid delays in service.
