Hands down the best coffee shop in HEB. I prefer to stay away from Starbucks these days. Roots is a comfy laid back coffee shop where you will find the friendliest people. They have a great selection of coffee and espresso drinks, and I havent had anything that wasnt delicious! They make you feel like home by serving your coffee in mugs and your food on a plate. This is a welcoming feeling as they are telling you to "sit down, relax and stay a while". Roots is so much more than coffee as well. If you take a look at the place youll see that they do their best in being eco friendly. They recycle the coffee grounds and serve your coffee in cups unless you want a paper cup. They also do great things for those less fortunate as they have ways to make you aware and opportunities to help out in your local community as well as people world wide. In my opinion this is a place that I want my money going to, a faith based establishment that is doing what they can to better our world in more than one way!

Went here in the early morning, the coffee is good, the chairs and decor are nice, but the employees and service are nothing more then mediocre. I walk in ready to order a latte, go up to the counter, no greeting from the two employees. Simply a, "Ill be with you in a moment", the man takes my order, I pay, I wait, I wait. I was a bit surprised actually. No line, maybe 4-5 other customers sitting, yet I waited a solid 5 minutes for a 5$ latte. Its no big deal to me, but when i can go to starbucks, get greeted with a smile and small chat, and get my drink in nothing more then 2 minutes, and it comes out perfectly.. At Starbucks they seem excited that I am there and getting their coffee. At Roots, they seemed almost.. annoyed. I felt unwelcome. I will be sure to give them another chance, though. I hear good things. bad- Wifi is okay with 5 other people on, must be crap if the shop is full. good- They had many chairs and little couches, and areas for privacy. bad- Almost snob-like employees.

Coffee is great quality. Im taking away a star because the chick who took my order was such an a**hole, it was hilarious. I second that "Tall? I dont know what that is." Yes you do, youre just being a d***head. I work in a non-Starbucks coffee shop and when people are looking for a Frappucino, for example, I direct them towards the part of the menu with our blended drinks. This place is so adamant about not being Starbucks that they dont at least take names for each order, or use a number system? When I was in there, what a surprise, someone took someone elses drink. Good luck with that yall! But seriously, the coffees good. Ill be coming back to try everything else...

People are trying to compare Roots to Starbucks; this is like comparing Del Frisco to Chillis. The coffee shops are distinct and apart. Roots may take longer, although it usually doesnt (unless you are using the Starbucks drive-thru, but thats obvious). Their drinks are more unique and the product is simply better. Should they cater to your ordering as if youre at Starbucks? No. If you give a bad review under that assumption then you have a sore problem of the "customer is always rights" and need to wake up. The atmosphere is unique. The employees are friendly. The coffee is great. The wifi quality is about the only miss, but... All in strides.

Stopped in here because we were in the area, wanted coffee & i like it anytime I can go to a local coffee place as opposed to Starbucks (which I usually am stuck with in my area since theres no local coffee shops). I got the local honey vanilla latte which was a new taste Im not used to (honey & coffee combo), but good. My husband got the lucky Irishman which he liked, but I was not a fan of. We were there at around 9:45am and we didnt wait long on our drinks at all. People were very friendly and their point of sale terminal fascinated my geeky husband. Decor & environment were cool. Well go back if in the area.

I actually like roots coffeehouses coffee however my experience this morning was TERRIBLE. My boyfriend and i waited for 30 minutes while we watched not 1, not 2 but THREE people receive there orders before us. My boyfriend works in Coppell and the only reason he didnt leave was because he had already spent $9 for coffee and oatmeal. The only reason we stop here in the mornings is because its relatively close to my job but you just lost 2 new customers. #backtostarbuckswego

They ask you what size you want and if you accidentally ask for a "Tall" (Starbucks), they say "I dont know what that is".Oh Really? Not very nice. Plus they do not have clue about why you should not microwave muffins and pastries. How about getting a warming oven? (Like Starbucks) Set aside some time to wait for your drink it can take a while (Unlike Starbucks) Lots of fresh pastries, nice atmosphere, lots of space and outside patio area, beautiful latte art.

Great coffee shop! Ive been there several times. There are usually a lot of college students there studying, and its a great place to get some work done in a relaxing environment. The last time I was there, I didnt order but just found a table and started working. A while later a barista came by and asked if I wanted to order anything. What a great way to serve guests and a really smart marketing tactic. I was thrilled with my chai latte :)

Lolling at Vincents review because of inaccuracies. Lets get a few things straight: this is the best coffee shop around. It balances sophistication with coziness and serves great coffee. The baristas arent pretentious like Avoca and the place has good lighting unlike Buon Giornos. The baristas are the best around, each having a brilliant sense of humor: they will joke and talk to you, theyre all very friendly. Roots is the place to be.

I live right around the corner from Roots and stop in on a fairly consistent basis. Everything is really well done, from atmosphere and music (live, on the weekends!) to the frozen and blended drinks, authentic espresso drinks, awesome sandwiches, and pastries that are baked in house every morning. Cant ask for anything better than Roots. If you drink coffee out, you would do well to give them a try.

I have to give similar comments as my review of Buon Giorno in Grapevine. This place has great atmosphere and products. Something that differentiates Roots from many other coffee shops Ive been to is that they are more minimalistic in their decor and have better lighting which is nice if you want to study, read, or carry on business. I very much like the honey vanilla latte here!

Man have I tried to love this place, but the service is super slow (all 5 times) and the espresso drinks they serve are the worst I have ever had. They do have decent snacks but when I go to a coffee shop I want great coffee and this place does not have it. I wont even drink it if someone else is buying anymore. Atmosphere is good for meetings, just dont drink the coffee.

Roots is a nice change of pace from a Starbucks or similar coffee-house chain. Its kind of cozy, free wifi, and pretty good music. The coffee is fantastic. Theyve added craft beers and wine later in the day. Located just a bit down the street from TCC, there will be times youll find the place wall-to-wall students, but I was guilty of that back in college, too.
