A+ for concept, F for execution. We tried on two separate occasions to check this place out and finally managed to get in on a Monday evening. The venue has a gorgeous, well-designed and cozy atmosphere which smells of comfort food when you arrive. That is where the pleasantries end. I was caught off guard originally when our server excused herself halfway through explaining the menu to us to grab refills for another of her tables. By the time she made it back to us we decided for ourselves to try the fried chicken and the smoked chicken, a number of the sides (you pick four) and a basket of biscuits. The biscuits were more a cornbread biscuit, which were pretty good with the honey-butter they were served with. At this point I was feeling better about the fact that this dinner was going to cost $70 for two people. That was until the main course came out. The fried chicken was overcooked and lacked flavor. The smoked chicken had a good smoked flavor in the skin but the meat lacked any flavor. The kitchen had messed up the side order and at this point my guest had mentioned that a review may go on Google (at which point the server seemed much more attentive) so we ended up with 6 sides to try. The good: the cole slaw, mashed potatoes, grits and potato salad were all pretty good. The bad: the mac and cheese tasted like noodles in water with breadcrumbs. There was nothing comforting about them. The French fries tasted as though they were fried right from a frozen though we were took they were handcut in house. At the end of the day Prohibition Chicken was extremely underwhelming. At least until the bill came. The owner was very friendly and upon hearing we had overcooked chicken brought us out a fresh piece of the fried chicken to sample. Sure enough, it was hot and crispy but still lacked flavor. I understand that it can take a new establishment longer to settle in and have THE team trained properly but Im much less forgiving at the price point that Prohibition is charging. For my money I will stick with Babes when craving fried chicken.

From walking under the water tower, being greeted by a cool black bear, to the indoor outdoor bar, the whiskey barrel wall, the phone booth entrance to the Prohibition Speakeasy bar, Prohibition Chicken has an awesome take on an old style restaurant built to look like it was made in early 1900s. The food is based around actual farm raised chicken from egg to plate with no added preservatives or hormones. Chicken is served 4 ways. Crispy, Chili Fried, Pecan Smoked and Smoked Fried. There is also a local Akaushi Tri Tip (smoked and seared)from a local cattle farm, and a grilled Clearwater Trout. 8 sides to choose from, 4 of which are served bottomless family style for the table. For $1 a person, a big salad can be served, which is a unique take made with grit croutons, beet chips, and cornnuts! (Very neat take). There is a biscuit station in the restaraunt that pumps out fresh biscuits with honey butter! Must have! Favorites would be the Chili Fried, Pecan Smoked and the Tri Tip. Next is the beverage program. Many options of beers including support of the DFW crafts. The beverage menu has a good take on classic cocktails (sazerac, manhattan) to modern day innovative takes on hand crafted cocktails. To finish the night we went into the phone booth and pushed zero and gave a password to go into the secret bar! The wall opened up to this low light hidden bar. Different music, very chill vibe, huge bar full of scotches, gins, and whiskeys. The bartender allowed us to explain what we liked to drink and made us a fantastic cocktail. He used fire with smoke, different fruits and syrups. Awesome! As we left, live music was playing on the patio and we stayed to enjoy one last cold beer! Great Weekend out in Old Town Lewisville!

Pro Chick is THE BEST and it will only get better. Go before it becomes so popular that you cannot get in! In New York City restaurants/eateries with clandestine speakeasies behind a phone booth or down a hidden staircase has been a trend for years, a nod to the prohibition era, but the Dallas/Metro area has just one that I know of, and it is inside Downtown Lewisvilles Prohibition Chicken. Behind the "phone booth" (once you dial the correct number) is a gorgeous lounge—look around; the attention to detail and history is impressive. The cocktails are works of art. The bartenders are lovely and talented. What youll see in the main dining room and patio, if you pay attention, is that this place has HEART. From the aesthetics (real prohibition-era images and art in a rustic, well-designed space) to the relationship owners have fostered with the farm that supplies the chicken, which is served family style (perfect presentation with an array of dipping sauces) in a variety of fashion such as pecan smoked or with a spicy coating. If chicken isnt your thing, there is a delicious "Big Salad" like nothing I ever tasted (the croutons are soft and scrumptious and its topped with crispy beets and is amazing!) Beef in the form of tri-tip from the Beeman Family Ranch...trout, lightly smoked, is another option. Oh and the biscuits—Oh MY G—they are addictive. There also is a kids menu—the main restaurant is family friendly with live music from high-quality performers. (No kids in the speakeasy). Having visited a few times, the staff clearly is tweaking and perfecting the food, service and atmosphere — its better every time.

I went on a Wednesday and sat at the bar.I was told it was a soft opening and after waiting for more than fifteen minutes to order a drink and told I would have to wait until my drink was made before I could place my food order, the drink was okay but expensive! I ordered the smoked chicken and was so disappointed! It was fully smoked, but other than that, there was no seasoning! It was kind of tough,I think it was undercooked as it seemed to be a bit better as leftovers when I nuked it the next day. The sides, although they sound Devine, left a lot to be desired. The greens had a great taste but seemed to have sand or dirt in them(or something gritty) The smashed parsnip potatoes were tasteless and the bacon cheese grits were missing bacon and were okay at best. I had been waiting for this restaurant to open for so long and was so disappointed by the fare. Maybe I should have ordered the fried chicken,I noticed that most people who ordered the smoked chicken took it home but the fried chicken, people were eating! It is very expensive so Im not sure if I will give it a second chance. If you are in the mood for smoked chicken go to Babes! Wait staff was friendly, however I had to ask for salt and pepper and it was given to me in a cup!I sure hope they learn how to season their food before they have the grand opening!

We came here for a friends birthday dinner, we had a party of 7. When we first arrived it was a Friday night around 8pm. Half the tables were empty and so was the hostess stand. We ended up waiting about 7-8 minutes before we were greeted with a less than enthusiastic hostess. I dont mind waiting as I understand things happen but none of the servers or bar staff greeted us either or let us know that someone would be right with us. Once we were finally helped, they asked if we wanted to sit outside, we agreed and so she directed us outside and pointed us to our table. Yep. Pointed our table to us, not walked. After we were seated she brought us water and told us our server would be right with us. After about 15 minutes, no server had come and one in our party ended up going to ask the manager about it. Eventually, we got a server to come out and from there things went very smoothly. The waiter was great and courteous, as were the other staff who helped him being the food and drinks out. Chicken was okay but we all agreed the sides were the standout of the evening. The Mac and cheese, garlic green beans, smashed potatoes and cucumber and tomato salad were wonderful! All in all, the atmosphere was nice but I dont think well be returning anytime soon.
