The Lewisville Texas location gives AW Shucks in general a big black eye. My Mother planned to take my father there for his 70th birthday along with her Parents and my husband and myself. When we walked in we stood around for several minutes with staff just looking at us. There were open tables everywhere but no direction as to whether we should wait or seat ourselves. Finally we just found a table we could all fit at. We sat around for another 10 minutes with staff offering no direction or clue as to what was expected of us. Finally we went to hunt down some menus, the offered us two for 6 people to share. By this time we figured it must be 100 % self-serve so we went and ordered some food using my husband’s name for the order. The called our names but only gave us 3 of our orders, after patiently waiting my mother & myself went to go see what happened. The manager was clueless and told my Mother just “GO SIT DOWN “ we will bring it to you when we get it. She was rude and condescending to my Mom who couldn’t be a sweeter person. We waited till the rest of the food started cooling off & my husband and I went to go find out what the deal was. The manager was arrogant and snotty (and that is putting it nicely) I told her how horrible the service and experience was thus far and I didn’t appreciate how she treated my Mother. She shrugged it off and told me I was rude. I reminded her we were customers and she told me well you need to learn our system. Her Name is Lindsay Seale the food was ok (fries were cold & soggy by the time we all got our food) but she has no business managing a restaurant. I could not and would not recommend Aw Shucks ever the food wasn’t good enough to make up for the poor attitude and lousy customer service. Don’t plan any special events there you will be disappointed. I felt horrible for my Mom she just wanted to have a special dinner out for My Dads 70th birthday.

My concerns, that I brought up to a blonde lady that looked like she may have been a manager were totally dismissed! I ordered the ceviche and a dozen grilled oysters. I go there quite a bit as I work in the neighberhood. I seldom leave without spending an average of 30 dollars. I wasnt going to say anything but I saw a lady in front of me complaining about how she had received some shrimp that were very small compared to the amount of breading. The blonde lady was acting concerned about their issue, so I let her know that the oysters I had were also very small. And when I say small.. Im not exaggerating. Some were the size of the end of my pinky finger. When I mentioned how small. She looked at me and said "Well, we cant control the size of the oysters because when you open them. You get what you get. I thought a bit as she was deducting the other customers shrimp that they were not satisfied with then I said. I understand what you are saying about not knowing the size when you open them, but cant you see how small they are and NOT serve them. She looked at me as she was walking away and said They are all small right now. I thought about this as I drove back to work and the more I thought about it, the more it bothered me. Out of the 12 oysters I had 2 were a good size. When I thought of this I realized that not ALL the oysters were small like she said. She just didnt think I was important enough to give me the time of day. Now, I dont know why she treated me that way. The only thing that was different between the Anglo customers, with the small shrimp, and I is our race. You see the blonde lady wad also an Anglo. I know race is a big problem in this Country and I have rarely experienced it before, but I, for the life of me, can not figure out why she treated me that way.

My father introduced me to this place a few months back and I loved it. Been going in there roughly once a week since and I usually order the summer platter which is usually very good. I went in there today and it looks like they forgot the seasoning or something, as there was water in the bottom of the pan and not the typical flavoring. I was really hungry and started eating, and without touching much I decided I didnt want it and that it wasnt good. I expressed my concerns to the manager and she didnt offer to fix it or anything. Usually in that situation fixing it or giving a coupon for next visit would be fair. She then still told me that I needed to pay. I pointed at a plate full of food and stated that I shouldnt due to the fact that I barely touched it. She then said she could do 50% off only since some of it was eaten, but it was nowhere near half. Not wanting to make a scene I agreed to pay half then went to Joes Crab shack. Sometimes food doesnt turn out right, and I can accept that but Ive never been in a situation to where Ive had a manager arguing with me and so dismissive when anyone could look at the plate and see that something was off. This place went from being my favorite to a place that Ill never step foot into again. If I could give zero stars I would.

The concept of the honor system for paying is unique. You simply walk up to the counter, order whatever you like and then after you are done eating you walk up to the cashier and tell them what you had. Im surprised it works effectively from a business point of view, but it must! I was pleasantly surprised not only by the hearty portions, but also by how fresh most of the seafood and vegetables were in addition to their outstanding flavor. Everything was seasoned well and tasted delicious. We ordered gumbo to start and also enjoyed both the Crabcake Basket with fries and Grilled Salmon with grilled vegetables (zucchini, mushrooms, squash, and red peppers). I will acknowlesge that the shrimp in the gumbo appeared to be the frozen lind you can get anywhere, but it was still tasty! The Crabcake Basket comes with two large and filling crabcakes while the piece of salmon was substantial. While leaving I noticed that have some pretty amazing drink and food specials during happy hour that I cant wait to try! Definitely will be back here again!

These knuckle heads had a crawfish boil party yesterday 4/7/13. It was packed! They charged 25 bucks per head for the unlimited cw and live music in the parking lot. My entire family went, so we spent well over $150.00... so they raked in the money alright. But screwed their best and loyal customers as they ran out of crawfish. You had to then stand in line an hour only to get half cooked crawfish that were completely uneatable and very unsafe to eat! Weve been going here since they opened and the food was always pretty good. Service was always spotty though. But to blatantly rip people off was the last straw! We are done with this mis-managed, bad-attitude dive. There are plenty of choices nearby who care about repeat business and loyal customers. Good bye AW Shucks... wonder what will be in this location after these guys close? No doubt well find out soon!
