I honestly wasnt sure what to expect - having visited Cedar Landing many times in years past - but it had been about 4-5 years since my last visit....plus we had heard that things had gone downhill a bit. I was expecting the place to be a bit tired...run-down maybe - with a few local-oldies eating there and supporting a has-been. I was hoping the food would be okay...and service just good...hopefully? NOT SO!! From the moment we walked to the doors; and Will held them open and welcomed us, taking us immediately out to the patio by the water for a table with a great view of the eminent sunset...to our server, Ashton - had the BEST attitude, and very prompt service - to the manager Sonni - who said "uh oh" when we called her over to our table. (She thought we were going to complain about something -but all we did was praise.) The place may not be the best, newest construction, fancy-schmancy place on the water - but it has great bones, and the friendly, fast service was sure appreciated. All the servers wear shirts with their names on them; and introduce themselves. Oh and the food...Wednesday nights they run all-you-can eat fried shrimp for $15.99. It comes with hush puppies (crispy on the outside, soft in the middle - definitely not bland little things; delicious). They were served in a basket, same time as our salads. Nice crisp, fresh romaine - nothing to write home about - just a salad - but exactly what I expected and crisp and cold (no brown bits!!!). Then came the shrimp. You can tell they arent frozen...they were fried to perfection - came out hot and there are some kind of herbs in the batter - makes them oh-so-addictive. Refills for the all-you-can eat were prompt - and I sure saw all the wait staff hustling - nobody walking slow; all taking great care of their customers. Also had a drink there - I liked it very much - a martini made with Vanilla Vodka, Malibu & Pineapple. The only wee bit of criticism I have is - it wasnt served chilled enough. Running a bar myself - thats a cardinal sin!!! But - the view and food were so good; a couple ice cubes tossed in made it a minor thing. Price was good - $45 for dinner for two including iced tea and my martini. Definitely go there. Sit outside - by the water. Toss a hush puppy into the water - watch giant catfish devour them in seconds! Enjoy the breeze - and the great food and service!! Thanks for not disappointing!!!

1 star for the scenery, view and ok service. Gulf Shrimp platter consisted of the smallest gulf shrimp I had seen, waitress didnt know where the shrimp were from and they STANK. My wifes Tilapia was undercooked (partially raw) and my grilled chicken salad looked like something that would be served in a 3rd world country. The lettuce was wilted and instead of a nice piece of sliced grilled chicken breast I got a few pieces of chicken which were cut up before they were cooked and were hard, unseasoned and overcooked. I cant speak for the positive reviews on this place, but can only think that Huffman being a food desert has something to do with it. There is no excuse for serving food that is not fresh. A waitress overheard my daughter telling me her shrimp were bad and someone came to our table and took them back and took them off our ticket. This place is absolutely horrible and it is obvious that they are using very poor ingredients. Do not go here for the food. On a positive note our shrimp kisses and fried pickles appetizers were ok. PS - This place reminds me of the tv series where Gordon Ramsey would attempt to turn around struggling restaurants.

Had higher expectations. Had a family gathering here. The view was absolutely gorgeous and the patio was wonderful however the restaurant was nothing like the reviews suggest. The rating is for the view, not the food or service. My husband ordered the seafood platter that was nothing but a few small pieces of fish and such for $23. He said it was over cooked and also tasted like rubber. I had the burger and that was good, but not $12 good. The seafood gumbo was watered down and had hardly any seafood- was pretty much a tasteless bowl of watery broth. The server was friendly however we never got refills on our drinks, had to hunt her down for napkins and ketchup and she left dirty plates and beer bottles on the table for the entire duration of our visit. With 6 people at our table, thats a lot of mess to sit in for an hour and a half to two hours. Will probably never return.

I have been eatting here for years. It was a favorite place for my parents as well. The staff is outstanding and very attentive. The food is fantastic and of all the years I have been eatting there I have never had a bad meal. Lastly let me tell you about the fantastic view of Lake Houston you can see the boats the sea gulls, ducks and the best of all a fantastic place to be at sunset. It is awesome sight. For boaters you can pull right up to the dock and either enjoy your food outside with other boating enthusiasts or come inside and have an experience that really compliments your day of fun on the lake. Just no better way to top off your day on the lake with friends.

Not great. Three stars only for the water view. Shrimp and scallops were over cooked and rubber like, the combo platter was way overpriced for what we ended up getting and the fries tasted cheap/frozen. I ordered a strawberry margarita and it was literally the worst drink Ive ever been served. I never send anything back so I took another sip thinking Ill just deal with it, but it was horrible. I told the waitress who said that "the bartender made it. People have been sending them back a lot." I chose to replace it with a beer, which was warm so I simply asked for a frosted mug so that needed up fine. We paid our overpriced check at $70, and dont plan to return.

wed is "all u can eat shrimp" .. and has been for 10+ yrs. out of corn. beans over-cooked with funny flavor had 3 orders of all you can eat, promised waitress large tip for quick service .. first order came within 15 mins .. one reorder of shrimp came 40 mins later as we were walking out. as long as I remember, service has been slow I complaint to owner on the way out .. he refused to take my pmt and said his condition is that everybody has to leave satisfied .. I was blown away and left a large tip for the waitress. beautiful setting by the water ..

Portion size was small for what you pay. Fish was overcooked. Service was great considering we had a large party. 15% gratuity was misleading on receipt. We had a few "kids eat free" meals and it did not say it was on total before discount, so we gave an extra 5 bucks. Later we did the math and it was on the total before discount. I know its only $5 but I would have liked better quality food, portion size increased, & seafood not overcooked. Two perks: our waiter was great and the endless amount of hushpuppies was good.
