Ive eaten here many times - its a great place to go to please a crowd. Their custom burger options are awesome - although the "premium" toppings can make your burger a bit pricey. I really like getting the burger in a bowl when going low-carb. I never have room for dessert but I have had their ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes, which are fab. Also sign up for their loyalty card - the C List - and you will earn money towards a future order. There are some things The Counter can improve: Do not go here for lunch - the service is very laid back and you will not be in and out within an hour. Catering - the options are great and EVERYONE LOVED IT but my order was about 20 minutes late. The "Market Select" offers - the last 3 times Ive gone theyve been "between" their Market Select options and I was highly disappointed. Are they even continuing that program? *edit* I just called again and they "dont really have" any Market Select offerings at the moment... unless its beer. Um,okay. Their social media contests - there seems to be a LARGE disconnect and disorganization between corporate and the individual locations. 2 years ago I participated in a best burger contest and despite being a semi-finalist the winner was never announced. I wrote emails and was given half-hearted answers from corporate for months. The local location had no idea what I was talking about and were not aware that 3 burgers from their location had made it into the finals. I like The Counter and will continue to go there - but they have a lot of room for improvement.

I have been here a few times before but it had been some time. I remember really liking the fries but thinking the burgers were just so-so. Well I had just ran 6 miles with some friends and we wanted a beer and food too (just one beer) ... we looked gross so our places to dine were limited ... el rey has no adult bevs ... and we kinda wanted to eat sorta healthy ... and the counter was a block away so happy we decided on this for these reasons you can create your own burger or burger bowl! or you can select one of their signature items if you are overwhelmed our server was super rad, she was attentive without being pushy, had great suggestions ... I did a build your own turkey bowl, I almost licked the damn bowl it was so good ... I remember adding the tomato vinaigrette on the side, get it its good no I didnt order any of their delicious fries, I know, but I am doing nye in NYC and I gotta keep looking fine till I get back so they have a happy hour, which means I will most def be back, of course after the new year ... and I will most def be devouring their insanely delicious fries ... hey maybe meet me up to toast the new year with some beers and fries! yes thats what 2014 will be, the year of beer and fries ... unless I am going back to NYC, ok lets meet at memorial park first ... you buying right?

Although the food is good and well made, and the decor and layout a nice modern style, for what you get it is over priced. The service is horribly disorganized, and the uniforms non noticeable, that is, for those actually wearing uniforms. Most workers look like customers. Once they figure out how to attend to you however, they do display basic customer service skills. It ends the weakness here is structure. On that note, service can also be slow, even when there are only, let me count, 12 customers, 3 parties of two and a party of six (not including myself this time since I am placing a to go order as of this writing). In all, food is good, style and atmosphere is good, but the price does not reflect the ingredients, nor most menu items unique enough, aside from the burger in bowls, to really justify the prices (mainly the added toppings). If you want an organic burger, theres Elevation burger, and if you want unique burgers theres Hubcap grill. If they simply lowered the price of the toppings and structured their service better, perhaps then I would give this place 5 stars. Atmosphere; 5/5 Service; 2/5 Price; 3/5 Food; 4/5 Uniqueness; 2/5 Total: 3.2/5

This is kind of a Which Wich of burgers but in sit-down restaurant form... you get an order form, check the options you want (unless you want a no-substitution signature burger), and they bring you your custom burger. They have a massive list of options. People say the service here is slow - I apparently came at an off hour, and didnt have that problem. The service was fine, and its $8.50 for a pretty fantastic 1/3 lb burger with your choice of toppings, and extra $2 for a single order of fries. I got their Counter Burger which was $10.50... a bit pricey, but it came with so many onion rings on it the burger was massively tall - so I took off half of them and had my burger with a side of onion rings. I found the fries well seasoned but not overly seasoned - very nice. I recommend you go here, get a 1/3 lb burger and share a single order of fries with a buddy. This is more than enough food. The Counter Burger was delicious (as were the onion rings), but I think I wouldnt pay the extra $2 for it unless I wasnt also ordering fries or something.

One of our Mothers Day stops was at The Counter on Washington because [this young mother] wanted a grilled cheese. We have been there many times in the past, but on this day, we had a major issue. The waitress refused to serve us because she said [this young mothers] wheelchair created a fire hazard. The restaurant was pretty dead (at about ten percent capacity), and we were sitting at the same booth where we always sit. The wheelchair can actually roll up under the table even more. and you can clearly see there is more than enough space in the area (her wheels are 25inches). This prompted us to speak to the manager on duty. His shirt was un-tucked, and his eyes were pretty red; he didnt seem to be able to communicate well so I asked for the waitress name along with the owners contact information. He said, "OK," went to the kitchen, and never came back out. We were able to get the information from another waitress, and have since spoken with the manager - who apologized to her credit. Though, I will NEVER patron this establishment again!

Food was good, service was okay. Ordered a fountain beverage and after drinking about half of it, I talked with the waitress and found out they had coke zero (not listed on the menu), which I wanted originally and asked if I could switch. (easy fix right?) She took the drink I only had half of, and brought back what I requested. I was charged for both and when I inquired about it, was told that I was charged for both because theyre different flavors of fountain beverages. Had the server said that it would be an additional charge before she took my original drink, I would have stuck with my original beverage - I didnt think it would be an issue because theyre both considered fountain beverages. I messaged them on Facebook before writing this review to ask if that was their normal procedure, but there just seems to be a lacking element of customer service in the restaurant and online. Doesnt matter how great the food is, if the customer service/relationship isnt there, I usually choose to spend my money else where.
