Hamburgers from my childhood and teen years consisted of the standard fast-food fare. Any exceptions to those would be a treat, but would not be gourmet by any standard. New burger options would appear from time to time, but most are now just memories from my past. However, one of those hamburger memories remains a part of the Houston burger scene. Annies Hamburgers on South Post Oak Road has been serving up classic flame-broiled hamburgers since the 1970s in the same Westbury area mid-century strip center. Originally known as Lukes Hamburgers before legal issues forced a name change, Annies knows burgers. Their menu is simple - single or double burgers, with or without bacon, fries, onion rings, with chicken sandwich, BLT, and breakfast options. Annies is not fancy - and you dont want it to be. They offer a made to order hamburger from friendly folks who have been doing this for years. In about 15 minutes, my number was called, and off I went to the counter to greet my burger. Wrapped in white paper, one end of the burger is visible, inviting me to indulge. That first bite took me back over 20 years to a familiar taste that I could never forget. A flame broiled flavor is still the centerpiece of this hamburger on a toasted bun, with cheese melting off the side of the patty, complimented by iceberg lettuce (not my favorite), white onion and light mayo. The fries (of the frozen variety) are thin, crispy and tasty. This was an enjoyable burger adventure. Annies gets busy, so the place can look a little unclean. But keep your focus on the food they serve, and youll remember this place for years to come.

Went there for the first time and the place itself isnt great. However the cashier was very sweet when we placed our order and when I asked her for a to-go bag. The burger patty wasnt anything special but the it was still good. The lettuce was green and fresh and so were the tomatoes and onions; no brown or old veggies. The fries were crunchy and my boyfriends onion rings were fresh as well. The batter wasnt taking away from the onions at all, unlike those gross sports bar onion rings that are 90% batter and 10% onion. Like I said the place wasnt fancy or anything but the service was good and the food was filling. OH THE BACON MOUND!!! I had the bacon burger and that thing was packed with bacon. It was good and crunchy. Not chewy or soft but just amazing and crunchy. I didnt finish my burger so we took it home and my boyfriend ate it an hour later and the bacon was still crunchy. Yeah Im going there again for sure.

Annies is definitely one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall burger joints. Theyve been around for a very long time and their burgers still taste like homemade. Their fries and onion rings are also delicious and Ive heard the breakfast is awesome. I just need to find time to get there before breakfast hours are over. If you love bacon cheeseburgers, theyre definitely dont skimp on the bacon. You get bacon in every bite. The prices are fair especially for the quality of food youre getting. No need to overpay at the gourmet burger joints. The staff here is super friendly and theyve also just recently remodeled and repainted the interior. The parking lot is still rough, but there is plenty of space to park. NOTE: They serve this really delicious creamy jalapeno sauce with your burger and fries, its so good I always ask for extra. Its great for dipping your fries or for adding to your burger!

I saw the reviews and said I will try the burgers for my first time, looks like they have been in business a while. Walked in I saw a sign that said fresh cut fries and said wow, this is a plus! Ordered a double meat burger with fries. All I can say is this was the WORST burger I ate in a long time! This is no joke, I tell it like it is. Who ever would love this place have never had a good burger. There is a place in bellaire that sell flame broiled burgers that will convert a lover of this place. Oh, the fries are not fresh cut they are from a frozen bag, yuck! If you dont believe it try them and see......

Nope. Me and my daughter came to this restaurant and the service was very slow not as friendly as I expected. And the food was very dry and cold absolutely flavorless it was very expensive for the quantity in quality. The inside really needs to be cleaned up theres cobwebs everywhere and the floors are dirty and they had Dusty old decorations up way past the intended holiday will never return. Go a little further to cues burgers instead.... btw it was only a few people and we had burger, fries, and lemonade. All pretty bad.

These are just my thoughts, but the beef and anything that got burgerjuice on it (onions, bacon, etc) had an off-putting chemical taste to it, almost like whatever fuels the flame was imparting an extra flavour. And the metal chairs scraping in the acoustic room was painful to my ridiculously sensitive ears. Fries were crispy, so that was cool. Not a bad place by any means, but I wouldnt go again. Even on a rainy Sunday there was a constant stream of customers, so looks like they have a strong following.

1st visit, Ehhh... The burger was good but nothing to go out of ur way to get. The fries/onion ring mix tasted of grease. I would of preferred a tasty batter on the rings and some good seasoning on the fries, so salt would have been good too. I could only taste the grease. Now the brownie was good but nothing spectacular that I couldnt make at home. So to sum it up, I wont be returning. It was kind of out of the way for me but the reviews made it sound btr then it was. Sorry

Wow! Where do I begin? The ladies at the counter were very courteous and answered all my questions. This is the place to go if you want good portions they dont skimp here! The bacon burger was delicious it had flavor and fresh toppings. The establishment was clean and well kept. Very good mom and pop stop. I loved how they have a kids coloring section with artwork tacked on the wall. I will definitely be coming back again. Well done Annies I regret not coming sooner! :)

Fries tasted like Burger King. Burgers tasted OK, but not as good as Burger King. The dining area seemed clean but the openly exposed kitchen showed all of the frozen food being fried and didnt seem too clean. To be fair, you usually dont see these areas at other eateries. I have a strong feeling that it will make a poop. I will post an update with the results.

Very good burgers good fries great onion Rings. Back in the seventies and eighties this place was a gold mine. I wish the owners would wake up and see that it could be again. Revamp the place. Wouldnt take a lot. This place used to have a line outside the front door every day at lunch. But anyway a good affordable place to eat

Idk why i keep coming here, maybe cuz its close. Everything is over priced and pre cooked in the morning , they just warm it up and serve it up. Breakfast for 1 will run you bout 15.00 bucks. I wish there was a Franks Grill close by then it would cost bout 8 bucks for the same thing. ..
