I came on a late Wednesday night. Business was steady but not busy by any means. The bar area itself is huge and the decor was beautiful, and they even have pool tables and sitting areas in the back. When I sat down I was greeted by the bartender and chose the cocktail that was their take on a french 75 and was made very well and tasted great. Here is when the issue arises - he was the only bartender behind the bar and where I was sitting was towards the back of the horse shoe area, so he either forgot about me or couldnt see me and it would take me almost 30 minutes to get another drink. Towards kitchen closing time he offered a late night food menu to see if I wanted to get anything, so I ordered the Cajun mac n cheese (sounded good in theory). The cheese was very bland, and tasted like they just threw a bunch of tony chacheres on it. There were a few bell peppers thrown in there and then the smallest overcooked shrimp youve ever seen, and no ham to be found even though it said ham on the menu. Low and behold Im waking up at 2am vomiting up - you guessed it - cajun mac n cheese. Not a pleasant experience at all. I would recommend if you go to sit at a very visible area of the bar, and order something that is hard to mess up like a salad. I might go try again in a year to see if they can fix this because I love staying at this hotel.

I went to Valentinos in Houston this past Saturday March 26th 2011, and Im sad to say that I was very dispointed in the food. Our waiter was fantastic and had the best timing, unfortunately the food was subpar, and the managers response was also quite unfortunate. I got the fish of the day, Mahi Mahi in a bed of spinach, the fish was very dry and not very special. I mentioned it to the manager who proceeded to educate me on dry fish versus fatter fish, I have been eating fish all my life and as a matter of fact do not eat anything but seafood, yet she felt compelled to give me the lesson. To be honest although Im not a great cook I am 100% certain I could have done a better job at home for a fraction of the price. For rating the service Im torn, the server and other staff were fantastic, but the manager could have done a better job.
