I actually went out of my way to drive up here from sugar land. My friend saw the deal and we decided to try it out since were college kids on a budget always looking for a good deal. From the reviews i read it seemed like a good place to try out. I saw on maps that it was near the zoo but who knew it was right outside and almost a part of the zoo. I went to the zoo not too long ago and was starving afterwards and had no idea that there was a place to grab some grub. My friend ordered the club salad which was amazing. They serve it to you in these cute takeout boxes and the salad came with many greens, turkey, and bacon. It was fresh, crisp and a pleasure to eat. I got to order a build your own grill cheese with all fresh vegetables and some extra add ons were mushrooms and onions which made the sandwich that much better. To top off the hot summer day we went there we both got a fruit smoothie and it was a great way to cool off. Theres a great view of the lake there and if it was a little bit cooler that day I think we would have had a nice time sitting outside enjoying a little girl time and fresh food/smoothies. TRY IT IF YOU HAVENT BEEN!

Grilled cheese? Im there. Beautiful scenery? Heck yes. I might be biased just because I adore cheese, but Pinewood was a delight. They have great build-your-own grilled cheese sandwiches. You have a choice of bread (I chose sweet sourdough), up to 2 choices of cheese (I chose Cheddar & Havarti), a meat (I chose chicken), and finally up to 5 veggies (I chose Apple, Tomato, Spinach, and Sprouts). I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries to share with my friend. The food tasted fresh and clean. I felt satisfied with just one half of the sandwich! The outdoor scenery is also beautiful. We came just before noon, and the weather had to be in the mid- to high-60s. It was perfect. We ate outside on the outdoor table in the shade, and then moved onto the small grassy hill in front of the lake. I highly recommend this cute cafe!

Brilliant grilled cheese sandwiches with lots of options to choose from. Choice of bread, two cheeses, a protein, and veggies. For me I personally go with whole wheat bread, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, bacon, spinach, jalapeños, and grilled onions. At first I was skeptical about one sandwich filling me up but I gotta tell you that one sandwich will fill that sweet spot in your stomach. Their salad is amazing as well and not to forget their many different sides. Definitely worth the visit and price. Conveniently right in front of the zoo, the pond, and the train.

"Half of the appeal is that it offers a nice place to cool off while visiting the park on a hot August day" – which I might have said if the air-conditioning actually worked! The service was good, the sandwich was delicious, and the roll of paper towels on every table was for repeatedly wiping the sweat off of ourselves. It was more humid in here than it was outside.

I usually am put off by little places that seem to be over priced for junky food (that take advantage of lots of people in public areas) but this place genuinely had good food made to order. Great place to get out of the heat and still enjoy the water through the glass walls.

This is a little cafe outside the zoo, neat the train. The food, however, is surprisingly good. They have lots of interesting options that go beyond the usual fare. The outside area offers nice views of the water and the area is very clean and well kept.

My kids (ages 7 and 9) and I went here in November for a late dinner. We had a great meal! This is definitely a fancy bakery with food that tastes "real" - you can tell they use real butter and flavor - its not "fake" food made with cheap ingredients.

Very slow service. Also the area was very unkept. Dirty trays and used napkins sitting on empty tables while the employees were just talking behind the counter. All of this was almost worth it because the food was very good and prices arent too high.

When youre out for a show at Miller Outdoor Theatre sometimes you just want some snacks to accompany the wine you brought. Pinewood cafe has tater tots and sandwiches that go perfectly with the chilled white wine in the back of your car.

It is just what the name suggests, a cafe. Dont expect much from it besides sandwiches,burgers, drinks, and quick snacks. It has very nice outdoor seating and its a pleasure to get a bite here when you are going around Hermann park.

Great little deli for this area. Prices are appropriate.The wait for a sandwich can sometimes be a tad long but the food quality is great. I stop by for a Turkey Cran sandwich whenever I get the chance. They also have free wifi!

Nice views of the lake, cozy patio. The food was surprisingly very good. Burgers and salads were tasty. The patio is a bit small and the indoor seating is quite small and cramped. But on a nice day sitting outside is great.
