Saturday 07/20/2013 1:45 pm. I dont really know what to say given all the high reviews, maybe the usual cooks were off on vacation or something because I just dont get this. So, I got the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage beans and tater salad sides. Brisket: had no detectable smoke ring, no rub of any kind, no yummy bark, no detectable marinade or mop sauce, and worst of all- no smoke flavor, this brisket tasted like pot roast. I tried to add some flavor by dipping it into the sauce and got another surprise, horrible BBQ sauce. It was fall apart tender I must admit but I can do the exact same thing in my oven and would never ever do that to a brisket. Sausage: Sorry, but the brisket and sauce shocked me into a mentality of "I gotta eat this junk or throw it away" so I dont remember anything special about the sausage. it was probably microwaved or at best heated in an oven, no smoke flavor. Sauce: After a while the maple syrup flavor subsided and I was able to bring myself to use some of it, dang sure needed something. Beans: flavorless, They were the same color as the BBQ sauce so I was expecting a little more flavor. Potato salad: had no potato chunks to speak of, just looked like yeller mashed taters. decent flavor. They have a nice little spot and attentive staff But 1 star review is my rule of thumb when I throw food in the trash while Im still hungry. I know what you might be thinking, this idiot is from California or New York, but no, I am not only a native Texan, I am a well seasoned pit master and I know good Texas BBQ and what I was served aint even close.

So I am over the BBQ thing, ive been eating it pretty much every week due to the rodeo and what not. So why did I come here today you ask? Well a friend just told me about this place yesterday and I happen to realize i was down the street. So I said, ok this will be my last BBQ place for a while, Ill check it out. I was overwhelmed with the various options, I almost ordered a checken sandwhich but decided I should just go full fledge BBQ. So I got the chicken potato with all the fixns. Yup all of them! I saw that they ha cookies and pies, which looked very good. This place looks like it would be in a small hill country town where everyone knows each other. The counter guy was pretty nice and gave me a minute to decide what I wanted (it is a pet peeve of mine to have my mind made up by the time i get to the counter) but the line went fast. So I took it to go since I was alone. When I got home, I got it out of the bag and opened the container! Jesus Fn Christ!!! this was a huge potato, with pile high cubed chiken and BBQ sauce on top. The first taste was oh so good. Very hot with the sweetness of the sauce and chicken then spicyness of onions. Oh man, now I could only eat half of it. I saved the rest for din, for after my run. Now , I cant wait to go back this weekend to try out the other options, plus Amanda N says they have cake! so maybe I will be over the BBQ thing next week!

The brisket is as good as any other fine bbq joint. The bbq sauce is a nice compliment to all the meats...it has a gravy consistency and the flavor isnt too over-powering. The pork roast is very tender. Skip the beef short ribs; they were disappointing...either over-cooked or yesterdays special (dry and hard). The stuffed baked potato is a must-try and a meal in itself. They offer two versions; traditional and bbq. I ordered the traditional cause I already had a plate of bbq. My only complaint is that I wouldve preferred the dish being tossed in the oven for a minute or so to melt the cheese and heat the bacon bits, as they were both served cold...the heat from the potato was only good enough to melt the chuncks of butter beneath the pile of toppings...but this is my own preference and many of you would care less. The jambalaya was very good...no complaints of overseasoning here. The fries were nice and crispy. Ill have to make time on a weekend and try their ox-tail dish. Overall, this is a great place for bbq and fried seafood. The prices are very reasonable and you certainly get your moneys worth.

Ill give them props on their inexpensive GMO giant mutant buffalo wings. Despite being sold for 8 bucks a dozen, they were cooked thoroughly, and the buffalo sauce was good. They were moist, but cooked all the way. Ive come here with some local friends, who really like this place. I consider it mediocre, and would prefer the Pappas BBQ across the street, just because it is cleaner. Ive had their baked potatoes, and platters before, and it never really impressed me. It seems more like backyard bbq, than top Texas BBQ worthy of hype. Also , the place is very run down and there seems to be a hygiene issue, which keeps me from eating here on my own will. Its located in a dilapidated strip mall in a run down part of crosstimbers. I would expect much hygiene here. Just something to keep in mind.

My favorite spot for some bbq! My favorites have always been the chopped beef sandwich & the massive backed potato w/chopped beef until I started noticing the rest of the menu! I love it all and their bbq sauce is the best! I love the crosstimbers location only. They have a great chicken fried steak and all their sides are absolutely great! They even have an amazing salad. I get mine with grilled chicken on top! So yummy I think I figured out what is for lunch today, Hungry Farmers BBQ!

Green beans were spicy mac n cheese is spicy the mashed potatoes taste worse then the ones served in jail.. Screw it I said and I started to eat my chicken fried steak but the white gravy looked like it was mixed with water and chucks of gravy in it I assume it was chuncks of gravy... I give them two stars because the only thing worth eating is the sliced beef brisket just make sure u ask for more than two slices of bread when u get half a pound of brisket or more.

I would rate zero stars if possible, went here for the first time today and the experience was awful we ordered a good amount of food first we got a 4 meat plate and the meats were full of fat! hardly any meat on there we asked for potato salad and they gave us mashed potatoes. fries were soggy and no taste at all, we also got desert (peach cobbler) and it tasted about five months old horrible horrible experience they really need to serve better food.
