Would leave zero stars if i could but have to leave one in order to write review. I wanted to suprise my wife and take her to a new place to get her favorite dessert. I seen the review rating and even read some reviews so i thought this place would at least be mediocre if not better than. It was total crap!!! We both got the bayou burger that looked so delicious in the picture. The burger is huge and cost about $12 but just taste like bland charred hamburger meat and the toppings inside were tasteless. No flavor in it whatsoever, So we thought to ourselves maybe not a good place to eat but surely the dessert is good so we were going to order a cheesecake and pay & be on our way never to return. Meanwhile the waitress had no customer service skills leaving us without napkins and water refills the entire time. Mind you the cups are like as big as a 4 oz babby bottle. So we ask her for a to go box for the food to take home to my brother in law who will eat whatever you put in front of him. So the waitress walks away and never comes back. Ready to pay for our crapy meal and order a slice of cheesecake after all the reason we were there. We look up to see the waitress chatting away with 2 others and seems to have us in her view but just ignores us. She starts walking our way only to go opposite side of us and head to the restroom. So she still hasnt even come by to take our dessert order or give us the to go box we asked for. We finally had enough waiting on her instead of her waiting on us like we were on her time and went to the manager who still had us pay for the meal and only gave us a slice of cheesecake as a "sorry". Still didnt get our food to go, but had to pay for it. Doesnt seem right to me. Bad experience overall wont ever go back. Dont even waste you time or money on this house of regret!!!

We love this place! There have been months when weve gone for dinner every single week (and its a half hour drive at least from our house!) We moved to Houston a few years ago from the Northeast where diners abound and were desperate for a diner with a more local feel (as opposed to Waffle House, IHOP, or Dennys). This is the best one we found in Houston by far! The prices are very reasonable and the food is great! Ive tried MANY different items on the menu, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and have rarely been disappointed. The servers are normally very nice and attentive--although during the dinner hours they can forget about your cup of coffee. Only truly disappointed with the service once when we came a little too late on a Friday and got a different set of servers than wed seen before. A lot of other reviews have mentioned the "hourly minimum" sign posted on the tables. In my opinion these are very necessary as the seating area is small and in the mornings and late evenings this place is PACKED. With many people coming in and just ordering pie and wanting to hang around chatting or coming in late night and overstaying their welcome this sign is necessary for everybody to get a seat eventually! I do not feel it is a reflection on their service. I understand chatting around a cup of coffee is typical fare for a diner and adds to the atmosphere, but this place is too small to afford it in prime hours! Overall I highly recommend this place! Although I have to admit, while I love the served food, the pies are not my favorite! Ironic!

Terrible. I do not care whether people like the food or not. The customer service is horrible. I arrived by myself on or around 0230 it was a busy morning, customers where writing their names on a sheet of paper attached to a clipboard. I did the same. I was seated at the end of the counter, where my view was of some of the staff grabbing various dishes and taking them to customers. My waitress who seated me cared little about my status. She did not even hand me a menu, I saw them in a holder to my left and helped myself to one. Looking over the menu I was not magnetized or enticed by any of the dishes, I decided to try the hot grilled chicken salad. 20 minutes passed and not even an inquiry on whether I have been helped. Finally when the waitress did take my order, she asked what dressing I would like, I told her I wanted caeser, she rudely informed me that they do not have that. What restaurant that takes itself serious sells salad but does not offer caeser salad dressing? Telling me this seemed to please her. I opted for Italian instead. Before the meal arrived a short Latin American man rudely started cleaning my area of the counter without any notice or warning, I stood up, so he could finish aggressively wiping the counter. My meal arrived about 15 minutes later, it was good, unfortunately it was the only thing that was. The old woman behind the register who received my payment had a pleasant attitude.

After being kicked out and threatened by the owner that he was going to call the cops on us because my daughter was crying while we were ordering I dont know how to feel. We simply walked in and sat down. My one year old daughter started crying because its breakfast time and shes hungry. He walks over to our table and says,"before you even start, is there going to be a problem?" I stay quiet but Jeremy Leal says, "what do you mean?" He begins to raise his voice and says that my daughter is disturbing everyone and we need to leave. He then continues on about how my ONE YEAR old had started crying and how no body wants to hear it. The couple across from us cant believe what they are hearing. The lady then says are you serious!! Believe it or not this isnt the first time that this has happened to me by the owner. When my daughter was a couple months old, she began to cry when she woke up from her nap. He came over and threatened us about getting kicked out. I began to breastfeed her just so she can stay quiet the first time. Ive never been so embarrassed in my life. This time was so much worse because he said it with such anger and he gave my ONE year old the uglies look. Everyone who has a child understands that babies cry. This is rediculous. How can an owner treat a good customer this way...This is not okay.

I have no idea why this place is still open. The pies tasted like they had been refrigerated for way too long, so they tasted like what I imagined an old refrigerator smells like. Not only that, but the chocolate was bottom of the shelf, leftover Halloween chocolate from 2 years ago. The gravy for the biscuits tasted like plaster with pepper, and the fries.... Im not sure what happened to "George", which isnt his real name, but well just call him that for the reviews sake. Anyway, George must have had an awful day or someone in upper management did something mean to him, or because for reasons unbeknownst to us, bodily scraps add umami to the food. Who knows? Anyway, George went ahead and thought it was perfectly okay to leave some of his pube shavings sprinkled about and smashed into my fries. I have horrid nightmares wondering just how many innocent people have dined on Georges DNA. Im hoping that was an accident and people just dont like it because the food is pretty flavorless. So anyway, I let our server know, and they were gracious enough to take the fries off of our bill. Had this been my restaurant, I would have apologized profusely and comped the entire bill, which was only 2 slices of pie and some biscuits and gravy for the 2 of us. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
