It gets busy on weekend and during breakfast especially. My mother took me to eat here when I received my first pay check years ago. I bought my parents breakfast and have been here for the last 8 years. The servers are the cooks so it can be a little of a wait when they are running back and forth cooking your meal and serving you. They are delightful people and are always smiling. They know their regulars. The food is great... i had a chocolate malt and fell in love with it. I do not like chocolate and i was scared to try another disappointing malt. For those who have written bad reviews are simply not appreciative and impatient. For people who say you have work in the food industry, as have I, it takes a person to put yourself in the shoes of the other person at that moment. Do not compare your experience to others, because if the roles were flipped, im sure you couldnt do half the job those people do. give a little, take a little. This place is great... im headed there now!

This place is a bit of an oddity. It is housed in the kinda historical Yale Pharmacy building and has been turned into a half antique store half breakfast and lunch restaurant. The restaurant side is your very typical cafe/diner fare and prices with an old school breakfast bar. A lot of the people in there look like they maybe have been coming here for decades. My favorite on the menu has to be the chicken fried steak and eggs at breakfast. Be warned the wait is always 30 minutes plus but I enjoy long breakfasts anyways. Gives me more time to drink several cups of whatever that coffee is that tastes the same in every dinner in this country. Just dont forget to grab yourself an antique lamp or beanie baby from the other half before you pay your tab.

Yale Street Grill is a sort of neighborhood diner. Park around back and walk around to the front - just be prepared for it to be busy. Its a pretty popular place for breakfast, and you may have to wait for a table. The service is also a bit on the slow side, its not the cleanest seeming place, and the food takes a while. But the food is good, we like getting the hot chocolate with our meal, and its fairly priced. While its a neighborhood place, dont assume its also very kid friendly - they dont have changing tables here - but if youre a parent who needs a changing table for a small child, youre probably used to this.

Went with my boyfriend for a relaxing Sunday breakfast. Slowest and most inconsiderate service I have had in a long time. Yes, they were busy...however having worked in the service industry myself for many years I also know that letting your guests know whats going on and at least checking on them goes a long way when the kitchen is slow at putting out food. When I told our server that we have been waiting for an hour and were now leaving...he couldnt have cared any less. I will never go back.

Found a new gem of Houston in the Heights! The food was delicious, hot, and fresh. The menu had a great selection of breakfast and lunch plates. The service was good. This was our first time here, but I could see that the staff was familiar with the customers. It kind of gave me that small town feel. I also liked the unique layout. Its half restaurant and half antique shop, and they still have the old Yale Pharmacy sign up. Great first experience. We will definitely be returning soon!!

Old school pharmacy (all thought no longer a pharmacy) with a great old school lunch counter. Handmade comfort food is featured with all your favorites like steak sandwiches, club sandwiches, bacon cheese burgers, salads, and much more. Daily specials are available so check out the big board. Make sure to save room for a handmade shake or pie.

No place quite like this neighborhood gem! Half old fashioned diner, half antique store? Too neat! Great for a late breakfast- gets a bit busy earlier in the day. Standard, comfort food and diner fare, decent portions, and a variety of choices. Love the atmosphere. My favorite stop for interesting antiques and vintage jewelry, too!

1st time here and reminds me of the old school diners. All employees and customers interacted. Everyone was very courteous and well mannered. Very good chicken fried steak and decent portions for the price. I will be coming back in the future when Im in the area. Thank you it was a very pleasant surprise and experience.

Average place. We came for breakfast and there was nothing special food wise. Biggest negative was the 30+ min wait for our food after we ordered. Service was eh too. Overall very average. Coolest thing about this place was the antique store next to it, you can see some of the goods sitting on a ledge while eating.

Quaint, historic diner, attached to an antique store. We had to wait a bit for service on a Sunday afternoon, but waitress was nice. We had breakfast, with pancakes, very good and a BLT, which was also good. Nice place to relax and eat.

I have eaten at Yale Street Grill many times, for breakfast, lunch, and evening meals. It is a well-known and loved Houston Heights establishment with generations of satisfied customers, myself included.

The atmosphere is great half diner and half antique store. This is an old style diner you can sit right at the counter. Fresh squeezed juices are great and the food is solid traditional diner food!

Its an original old-style drug store restaurant with counter service. Huge menu. Great burgers, breakfasts and lunch offerings. Sharing the space is an antique store with lots of nostalgia to spare.

Great breakfast and lunch place. An old fashioned diner with an interesting antique store attached. The best veggie omelette in Houston. Very friendly and efficient employees. Great location.

Good waffle, prompt service, & I appreciate the ambience of old fountain bar and numerous antiques. Part of the Heights thats managed to adapt to the gentrification.

Its definitely a neighborhood institution. You can expect to find standard diner food and its all solid. Most people look like theyve been coming here for decades!
