Came here on the advice of a friend - I cant believe this place has been hiding from me all these years! Its only open three hours a day, but its worth making a special trip. I think their sauces are a tiny bit sweeter than youll find at other Cajun places, but what sets them apart is that they dont cover up the flavor of the delicious seafood in the dishes. Everything really sings - and dont skip the corn bread either. This might be the best Cajun place Ive ever been to.

Being a Louisiana native, I am skeptical of any place not on Louisiana which claims have good Louisiana food. Zydeco is one of the rare instances of good Louisiana food. Service is done mostly cafeteria style, though there are plates to order as well. The cafeteria menu changes daily. The men behind the counter are pretty deep Cajun, so if youre not from Louisiana you may have trouble understanding them when the area is loud. It is all good, especially the cornbread.

I was in Houston for a conference, and this spot was one of the food highlights. I went there for lunch. Food is served cafeteria-style. I had the chicken & sausage jambalaya, with sides of okra and cabbage, and jalapeno cornbread, plus a strawberry lemonade. Everything was delicious, just right. The staff were grumpy, but its the kind of place where that adds to the atmosphere. If I were ever in Houston again, Id go back.

The place is long on atmosphere. Tables that look out of a 50s diner, various Louisiana nicknacks, and a mixture of 50s/60s R&B and "swamp pop" on the speakers. The shrimp poboy was wonderful with crusty bread and a nice portion of shrimp, well seasoned fries and I enjoyed the fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade to drink. Dessert was absolutely orgasmic bread pudding. Yum yum yum. Make this a stop if youre in Houston.

I have been to Zydeco multiple times. Every time, the food is gut-busting good and full of flavor. I have taken several friends here, and we always have a great time. Zydeco looks inside like a real joint. Service is very kind and swift, and the prices reasonable. I have been to other "cajun" places, but nothing compares to the real thing: Zydeco.

Top notch Southern/Cajun cuisine. Place looks a little rundown from the outside but dont let that fool you. My wife said she has never had so much shrimp in a basket before. They have a daily meal served cafeteria style and a menu cooked to order.

I will always come here for my crawfish craving. It was amazing. Not only is the food great but the friendly service is the cherry on top. I highly recommend this place, the setup is like a small town restaurant feel in east downtown! Amazing!

Great little Cajun place. Home cooked food with great flavor. Best Cajun food in Houston, but they are only open for lunch. I love their stuffed pork chops and their fried chicken. They also make a strawberry lemonade that is awsome. Yum!

Real good spot with counter service, good prices and very good food. Cornbread killed, and I dont usually freak out for beans, but damned if those black eyed peas werent delicious. Poboys looked great too, kinda wish I got one.

After reading all the great reviews I decided to try. Didnt even get to taste their food because the uninterested server had the most horrible attitude ever! I refuse to spend my money somewhere Im obviously not welcomed.

Came here with a friend to try their food and really liked their fried shrimp po boy. Very rustic feel to the place, which was pretty nice. Wouldnt mind going back to try something different.

As close to New Orleans food at this price range as you can get in Houston. The bread for a PoBoy is close. Etoufee is pretty solid, and the okra and tomatos is quite excellent.
