I went to this place for lunch one day during the week. It was busy but the line flew through. I ordered the 2-meat plate with 2 sides, so brisket/czech sausage with potato salad and jambalaya. the brisket on its own was good. tender, not dry, smoky taste. very nice. the sausauge was definitely made on site and used very coarsely ground meat, as oposed to a finer ground that you sometimes find. it was so coarsely ground that i felt funny eating the mystery meat that goes into sausauge. i wish it was just a tad more ground up. but still tasted great. that was the meat alone. the bbq sauce that was used on the meat was the worst part of the meal. it tasted like marinara sauce! where was the brown sugar, molasses, smokey, oniony taste of normal BBQ sauce?!? it really wasnt good. to the point where i dont want to go back there nor do i recommend it to others. the potato salad was good and had nice chunks of egg in it. very tasty. the jamabalaya was good too, though a bit dry if anything. i suggest other bbq places around town if you can avoid it.

Texas bbq at its finest. They smoke the best meat all day and night. The sides are hearty and tasty. The meat is super smoky and fresh tasting. The sauce isnt overly sweet or spicy, they make homemade jalapeno bread thats exceptionally good, nothing here is generic everything here has a "stepped up" quality that youd expect from a Texas style bbq establishment like this. Pricing is indicative of their top notch bbq quality. You leave with a satisfyingly full feeling, not an overly stuffed sickening feeling like lesser quality bbq joints scattered about Houston. Goode co. Bbq will not disappoint, youll love it if bbq is your thing.

I didnt find anything "good" about it. The sliced brisket is more akin to roast beef than brisket. Ill note that I was looking for a place like Bodacious BBQs in Longview, TX: drier, flavorful smoked brisket with a good bark on it. This wasnt even close. If the beef wasnt enough, the sauce is horrendous. I wanted a tomato-based, thick, somewhat-spicy sauce. When I think of their sauce, the only word that comes to mind is bad. If you like floppy, wet sliced beef and warm, watered-down ketchup as a sauce, I believe this place must be for you. If this place floats your boat, you can go every day and night; Ill stick with Rudys.

I must have been in Texas for approx 9 months when someone told me to go and try some bbq and to try Goodes. I had never eaten in this style of restaurant before, so was a little shocked at selecting a plastic tray and joining the canteen style queue... and I think my wife was quite surprised as I had selected this place for our date night meal... However, all was not lost as the food was pretty good. meat was good, sides were ok and not bad value....I would probably go again. Maybe take the kids and let them look at the massive stuffed animals.

Excellent, excellent BBQ. Especially for a work lunch break. Add in the inexpensive price and its just a solid darn BBQ place. I will certainly plan more visits and if the wife ever gets a BBQ craving I will have this up on my top list. Now I know some of you are looking at my decor and service ratings of only "good"... Well yeah? There is nothing special about the decor inside or the atmosphere. As for service, its cafeteria style! LOL. Just sayin. Not that I have a problem with that when it tastes so good.

I actually went to Goode Bar B Que with my friends who came in from New York because they wanted some nice authentic down home Texas Bar B Que and having only lived here in Houston for 4 months I havent tried much BBQ restaurants so I thought Id try the restaurant that I had always driven by. I was soooo disappointed. We all had a 2 meat combo. I had ribs and duck. The duck was ok but everything else was NOT good. This place was not the great Texas BBQ I had hoped to show off to my friends.

Got told that this was some of the best BBQ in Houston. Not being form the US I found it a little strange that that it was canteen style and how to order. I got the brisket which was really good. However if you are looking for veg go some where else as they have a list of veg to order from that consists of potato salad, pinto beans and baked beans. I thought that the whole place felt contrived, and that although it was good probably not the best BBQ there is in Houston.

I regret not trying Goode Co. BBQ on my own before inviting an overseas visitor here to try authentic Texas BBQ. The meat is indigestible and has toxic levels of smoke that caused us headaches and queasiness for days. I would guess that their vegetable sides are 25% corn syrup, and the beans have even more corn syrup with pieces of uncooked apple floating in it. From now on I will try a restaurant before I take someone there.

I enjoyed the bbq I had here, but I have had such delicious BBQ after spending 4 years in St. Louis that I have gotten rather picky about my BBQ choices. The brisket was good, but it didnt blow me away. I dont know if I would return, but it was pretty solid BBQ considering that I cant really get anything much better where I currently live (California).

BBQ is OK, way over priced! 30 percent surcharge for ordering half pound versus 1 pound of meat. They dont even post this on there menu. Gentleman, look at your receipts. There sausage looks good but it sucks. If you want real "good" barbeque, head over to the Heights to Hickory Hollow, you will thanks me.

19 dollars for about a third of a pound of brisket, 2 sides (of which there were few choices, I hope you like onions), and a drink? Wont be coming back here again. brisket was good, sides were not. If you like good brisket and are willing to pay 20 bucks for lunch, sure. otherwise dont waste your time.

Ribs were inedible. Too much mesquite in the smoke and in the seasoning. Sides were delicious and the desserts were good. Staff paid no attention to us and if youve never eaten at a cafeteria style restaurant, good luck figuring out the menu and how to order. Will never return to Goode Co. Bbq again.

Real Texas barbecue! The pork ribs had an excellent smoky flavour tasted great, although they were slightly dry. The prices are very reasonable especially considering the huge portions! The interior decor could use improvement though. Nonetheless, Id definitely go back if I were on the area again.

Mediocre brisket, much akin to roast beef and not at all moist. Sauce not even average.... Ribs were terrible and hard to chew off the bone and much too smoky. Sausage cold before you get to the table. Ironically, the chicken was the best thing. No vibe here at all and not recommended.

Overall food quality is still pretty good and Ive always been a fan of the unique sauce, it just seems like they might need to do a little quality control on the brisket, as I remember it having better flavor in the past. The price went up noticeably, a tea and a BBQ plate cost me $20!
