I read the reviews and went to China Doll hoping for a good place to have lunch by my job. In that I succeeded. Its nice to go to a Chinese restaurant where everyone is Chinese including the chefs. People were very nice, tri-lingual, and the food was served so hot and quick I had to finish my soup while it cooled. Lunch prices were phenominally cheap. $5.85 for rice (pork fired or steamed), entree, egg roll, and choice of soup. Dinner was only $3 more. And it was very good. I plan to go again to find out what dish they do well. Their Mongolian Beef was good, but was on the spicy side instead of the sweet side (which I prefer) and had mushrooms? Still though, I was hard pressed to see where they cut corners to deliver this price aside from the rice not being the top of the line found at Yaos or PF Changs. Neighborhood is the hood. I really liked this place but Im not taking my girlfriend there for a date ever. Forewarn your co-workers that you found a good Chinese place near the hood that all the professionals in the area eat at. Tastewise, food is probably just 3.85 stars but the price and service make it a 5 for lunchtime dine in and all day takeout.

From the outside and the location of China Doll, youd probably turn around. But trust me, youll want to eat here. Its authentic! & very very very tasty! The prices are great and two people can eat just under $40, depending on what you order, that is. I order the chicken chow mein, it was yummy! And my fiance ordered generals tou chicken, which was really tasty! The employees were very sweet and polite. I appreciated every bit of it. This is a must go! The building seems a bit old, but if you ask me, youre not there for the atmosphere, even though its a plus, its the food youre there for! If there was an option for 0 stars Id choose it. I came here because this place had 4 stars. Why yall do me wrong like this? I ordered the general tso chicken and the meat was all dark and had parts that were hard to chew. So disappointed and turned off. My husband ordered the lemon chicken and it was all dark meat, had chewy parts and didnt really have any lemon sauce on it. Steamed rice is way better choice than their pork fried rice. We ended up eating the white rice and left our entrees. We instead went to a 2 1/2 star Chinese restaurant not too far from here and it was way better.

I love this restaurant. Its a small intimate little restaurant but they have some very good food here and they give you quite a bit on your order. Friendly helpful staff, and a cozy atmosphere. I love their General Tso chicken. And the fried rice is some of the best Ive had so far. They have a very large variety of items to order and everything Ive had so far has always been very tasty. A good place to take your lady friend for a quiet dinner.

My co-worker and I went here for lunch one day when working nearby. China Doll turned out to be a delicious hole in the wall. Once inside I was impressed by the beautiful carved out ceiling with gold accents and chandelier. The staff here were very sweet to us and the food was affordable and tasty. We ended up returning here the following day because we had such a good experience. I would recommend the steamed dumplings, so good!

I have gone during lunch several times and usually order the triple delight lunch combo plate. Their egg roll is the only chinese egg roll I eat and enjoy. I have not been disappointed with my food every time. My sister goes with me and really enjoyed the food. She loves the hot and sour soup! I used to go there about 25 years ago and remembered how good the food was, and still is. Must try!

I moved to Houston 31 yrs ago from NY....NY has the best Chinese food! I recently moved to the north side of town. I came across China Doll ...from the outside...it looks very seedy...the inside as well. Let me tell ya....this place is a gem! Dont judge a book by its cover....the food is excellent...best Chinese food in Houston! NY has met its match right down the road...

Been coming to this place for the last 4years. The food is amazing. I try other restaurants but Im always comparing it to this one. So far still my favourite Chinese restaurant. They do everything right. Best fried rice thats for sure. No complaints. The area may be a little sketchy but the food and the prices are worth it. Trust the reviews!!!

I love China Doll. Im american and usually when i go to a chinese restaurant they always have a hard time understanding me and they are always rude, but this wasnt the case. The owner was so sweet and could understand every word i said. And their food was unbelievably good! I will definitely be coming back to China Doll

i ate here two days ago. i had a bowl of soup, eggroll and general tsos chicken. it was all very good. the worst thing about the place is the bad neighborhood and even worse drivers. sandi? the woman working there was very nice and very friendly. I like the restaurant but I hate the neighborhood. totally low-rent.

This literally is THE BEST Chinese food in Houston. I am from Philly and miss the food from home soooo much and this place has found a way to make it feel like home to me. This food has a special place in my heart. I can tell that they value their customers. I am just so happy I decided to take a chance on it.

I loooooooove their beef lo mein! Its a good portion for the price. Its not as oily as other places Ive been to and they have good customer service. Their rangoons (cheese puffs?) are a must try. They arent loaded with onions, big and super crispy.

Im rather fond of this hole in the wall. $8.40 (after taxes) gets me a large and tasty dinner entree. Normal people can expect to have leftovers. People like me better loosen their belt buckles. The Verdict - Dont eat to much.

I know its Hurricane Harvey and all but this should never be a reason for bad customer service! My sweet & sour pork was drenched in grease and they acted as if they couldnt give us a big enough bag to put all our containers in.

Great, reasonable Chinese. The dishes are large, lunch is a steal, and the egg rolls are hand made and wonderful. I usually get two to three meals out of one of their combos (entree/soup/pork fried rice/egg roll).
