We hired SITC to cater a party at home after visiting the restaurant for dinner and both meals were absolutely amazing. Naveen (the owner) came and hosted dinner himself. The appetizer round included mini potato samosas with mango, mint, and tamarind chutneys on the side. There were also paani puri shooters made to order. The samosas were light and crispy but not oily. The paani puri were all perfectly proportioned, the potato filing was airy and well seasoned. Most memorable, however, was the paani itself. Made with apple cider vinegar it was tangy and very different from a traditional mix (in a great way). Not only did they taste great but he laid out a stunning presentation personalized for us. The main course consisted of paneer makhani, vegetable korma, dal, naan, chapatis, raita with bundi, and mango lassi. The paneer was soft, buttery, slightly sweet and very light. The vegetable korma was savory and had a different mix than traditional indian vegetables, including broccoli which added a nice crunch. The dal was thick and savory and complemented the paneer very well. The breads were soft and airy but held up well as a conduit for the main dishes. What stole the show was the lassi. I would almost suggest it as a dessert rather than a side drink. It had the perfect balance of mango flavor and sweetness and was very thick (most folks needed to take a break after half a glass, but everyone went back for seconds and thirds). At the end of the night everyone felt full but not weighed down the way you expect following a traditional Indian meal. Naveens background as a nutritionist really came through. Not only was everything flavorful, satisfying, and light, but he spent the night talking up our guests, answering all their questions about the preparation of the food and the science behind his approach to cooking. I look forward to sampling the rest of his menu and urge you to do the same.

I live downtown in the Dallas Power & Light Bldg where Spice In The City is located and I’ve been enjoying many of the items on the menu since it opened. In speaking with owner/chef Navin, he also does meal plans, so I began purchasing 3-5 days worth of meals from him. This works great for my busy schedule since I routinely travel for work. I get great healthy meals that are freshly made and that fit my needs. I can pick them up on the day that I want and then I have them on hand for the next few days. So when I started planning to have my 50th birthday party, I knew I wanted Navin and Spice in the City to cater it for me. I wanted it to be a little different and have 4 or 5 unique appetizers. Navin was so helpful all along the way with helping me plan the event which included renting out the vacant restaurant/lounge in our building for the venue. It was a pleasure to work with him and I knew I didn’t have to worry and that the food would be awesome. The menu consisted of: • Turkey Burger Sliders w/Sweet Potato Fries • Mini Potato Samosas • Vegetable Dumplings • Grilled Chicken Satay • California Rolls During the party last night all 30 of my guests commented on how delicious everything was and how impressed they were with the spread. Navin and his staff made sure everything was beautifully displayed and promptly refilled everything as needed throughout the night. My guests enjoyed taking home some of the leftovers. Needless to say, this ensured my party was a success! -Chris

Was excited to see the menu and ordered a couple different appetizers and a couple entrees with naans. First, I think the claim at making everything from scratch has to be taken with a pinch of salt. The pani puri water was made from a using Haldirams pani puni mixture (was told that they dont use box spices and create everything from scratch) and mini samosas are those that you can easily get at ANY Indian grocery store and even Trader Joes. The naans look like the frozen naans you get at Indian grocery stores. I also did not see a physical tandoor in the kitchen (which is the clay oven used to make the naan). The saag paneer we got was extremely watery. The chaat was decent and the kati roll was decent. The chicken had good marination. The raita was also good. All in all I probably wont recommend this place to any taste buds that have experienced real traditional flavorful Indian food. It can be alright if youre in a pinch, but I think it is not catered towards the traditional Indian food eating customers. Also not everything is made from scratch as its claimed.

No, just no. Today I had one of the worst experiences Ive had at a restaurant in a while. This place killed the second half of my day. 1. Whats with the waiter calling me "Bud?" Im 64, do I look like a "Bud" to you? I know Im young, but it should be common courtesy to call a male guest "Sir. I dont know, Im not a kid for you to address me as "Bud." 2. I wasnt told that my order came with White Rice (It wasnt white rice, but very similar TO WHAT HE TOLD ME IT WAS ONCE MY ORDER WAS AT MY TABLE.) When I looked back at the Menu to see if my order came with the White Rice look alike it stated that I had an option of ordering either A or B rice and I wasnt asked if I wanted either or. The rice or whatever it is wasnt hot either. It was warm. Whatever I ate was extremely over priced. I dont know. I went in there a very happy Vegan, in search of further options of where I can dine at within my city and left hangry. Just an awful experience. I basically paid $18 for a Heineken and Veggies with some creamy sauce.

We used Spice in the City to cater an event for my sons wedding. Navin and his team did an excellent job! They worked with us before the event and helped us develop an exceptional menu that was perfect for our guests - from those who were new to Indian cuisine to those who were true connoisseurs. EVERYONE enjoyed and raved about the food. The night of the event his team had everything set up and ready to serve exactly as planned (despite some last minute changes in the number of people we expected). They were professional, helpful and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend Spice in the City for dinner or to cater your next event.

First time at this restaurant and the experience and the food was just absolutely amazing. Love the fusion Indian concept which mixed tex-mex with Indian cuisine it was absolutely delicious and such a great twist. I would definitely recommend this place. I think the samosas or the nacho samosas are a must. I also got the shrimp tikkadila and it was literally mind blowing good. Plus the atmosphere is just perfect and it has its own unique character. I will be back, love finding this treasure of a location! Also they provide some custom meal prep which Im seriously considering. Ill update this review if I give it a try.

I truly love the food and have become a regular. Navin is a wonderful, knowledgeable person. The food is outstanding! My husband is hoping Navin will someday cook lamb vindaloo (wink wink!). My husband is convinced this is the best tikka masala (extra spicy) he has ever had. I love the chicken curry salad, saag paneer, tandoori chicken, zukoras, pakoras, and saag tikka! The food is fresh and really good. I havent ventured into the mexi-indian menu, but my sister said the bacon borracho beans are amazing. Thanks Navin for sharing this gift with Dallas! Keep up the great work!
