I used to go to Babb Bros all the time at their old location, especially when they first opened and prices were super reasonable (back when they were the 1st and only Trinity Groves restaurant). However, this visit back in April of 2016 was my first time back since their relocation. The one thing that Babb has got right is the bbq sauce. This is obviously a matter of taste, but for me the spicy bbq sauce gets an A+. I love it. In terms of meats I really really enjoy the jalapeno cheese sausage...not that spicy but quite flavorful. The brisket tastes smokey and full of flavor. The one issue they have always had with their brisket is that it tends to be a bit too dry. In terms of the sides, the cheesy potatoes are a hit and the baked beans are fine. It appears they have taken creamed corn off their menu since moving. Thats a shame because that was an outstanding side (very similar to helotes). Im not a fan of corn bread in general as most of it is too dry but I have had corn bread I like (just this week at Luckys in fact). I did not like Babbs corn bread (too dry for me). I paid $13.99 for a 2 meat plate. Im done complaining about prices at BBQ restaurants and am just going to deal with the fact that BBQ is frickin expensive. I felt the portion sizes of the meat could have been a bit bigger, but the portion sizes of the sides was great. Overall, I think Babb Bros delivers a flavorful experience, but their preparation of the meats is probably lacking. My next door neighbor smokes brisket every week and it pretty much takes a full day to prepare a brisket properly. If a restaurant skimps on that process at all the meat will not come out perfect. My neighbors brisket tends to be very moist. Babbs not so much.

Wow, what barbeque joint have these reviewers been going to? Not Babb Brothers. My husband and I had a rare night out together, and chose to try this restaurant on a Saturday night when the Silvertones were playing. We had a GREAT time. Were picky about barbeque, and Im telling you this is good. Dont care about sides, although I do care about slaw, and theirs is good. OK, so they need better pickles on the bar, dill is boring. But Im telling you, this was worth the 20 minute drive on a Saturday evening. Nice crowd of people, excellent food, the brothers were entertaining and the Silvertones were MOST EXCELLENT. Please know, this is our first time here, and our first time hearing the Silvertones AND WE WILL BE BACK. I must have missed the rude lady taking orders because the one we dealt with was extremely pleasant and patient, especially with my husband who is menu-challenged everywhere we go. The restaurant itself is rugged looking from the outside, but clean as a whistle inside, well-lit, lots of corrugated tin, iced down beer, great bar, very nice outdoor seating (best for families with kids on the loose), no smoking which we love. Get a seat at one of the big tables, visit with nice people, enjoy outstanding food and music. Dont miss this folks, its so worth it!

Me and a friend stopped by on 9/6/2014 on a rainy day. Lets start from the parking lot. Just had my wife 200 cleaned the day before. The sand from the parking lot was all on the carpet. Next lets go inside of Babb. The line was long but moving. I ordered the three meat combo. Not a lot of meat more of a sampler. The sides was nothing to write home about. The drinking solo cups, Really whats that all about 8oz cup. Had to keep going to refill after four good hits. Need bigger plastic cups like lubys. The live band was ok if you were planning on staying for hrs. Not go for business if you ask me. Had to sit outside with the bugs. Kids walking on the table out in the grass area. where are the parents. Out of no were a cat came up looking for food. It looked like it bit a customer who was touching it. Back to the food, ribs were great, sauage ok, and the brisket ok. Lemon cake hit the spot. I hope this helps you on your dinning

The good was decent, just before being good. Think Dickeys BBQ in a Rudys BBQ setting. I was hoping for more, especially considering the cost. While not crazy expensive, it left me expecting more. Dive the extra 5-10 minutes to Bishop Arts to get some Lockharts. I got the pulled pork, which was dry and lacked any sort of smoke flavoring, as well as being like warm. The brisket that my girlfriend got was also dry and lacked any sort of real flavor, both of ours were not especially warm and had to have sauce added. She did seem to enjoy her sides, said the cheesy potatoes were good. My onion strings were the high point. Im also a big fan of sweet tea, and a BBQ place can score points on the set tea alone, sadly the sweet tea tasted old and watered down. We spent 25 dollars for the two of us, which itself wasnt bad if the food had been up to par. This is Texas, and we do take our BBQ seriously.

The service is good and the staff is ready to help you find exactly which item on their delectable menu may be dancing around your tastebuds. The great thing is when they served me my food they gave to me in to go containers to make it easier for me to get out the door as it was getting near closing time. For me this was good because its no fun disturbing staff to track down to go containers when your ready to leave. They even had the lids stationed around the drink station for ease of access. About the food, I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich and enjoyed it without the sauce because the meat was just juicy enough to satisfy my hunger but not overwhelm my napkin. My favorite is the Cheesy Potatoes because it reminded of my moms Hashbrown casserole. Overall I liked the relaxed fit and finish of the place and felt like a great place to bring friends.

Babbs has a way to go to be considered great bbq. The brisket I was served almost looked like pork it was so fair. It had no smoke ring and the fat in the moist had not rendered. I took a couple of bites and had to return it. It tasted like bland roast beef. They had another brisket sitting there that looked wonderful but wouldnt serve it to me. So I took the smoked turkey. This was actually quite good. Moist with smoke flavor on top of a good turkey meat taste. Adding just a small amount of their BBQ sauce brought out another layer of the flavor. This turkey saved them from being 1 star. For the side, I had Cole slaw. It was extremely creamy. Tons of sauce. Maybe a bit too much but in the end the flavor was good and the slaw had some good crunch. Not soggy.

This is my 2nd time coming here, and it was as great as the first time. The positives are the meat is moist not over cooked and they have great sides. Price is pretty decent for bbq. You get enough where you will be full. Im from Kc area so I know my bbq and this place is great expecially if you like bbq, beer, and blues. Live music on the weekends with a great atmosphere and friendly people. All walks of life, kids, young adults and seasoned people of all races. The sauce is great and the staff is friendly. The down side is not enough waitresses, and drinks are a little weak. Also the dont serve chicken (disappointed about that) but not enough ought to stop coming. Ill be back next week which will make 3 weeks in a row
