I will go back at some point and give this place another try because of the other reviews, but my experience there was lacking and Im very hesitant to go back. There are very few good places to eat in this God forsaken town, so I will give it one more chance... I went in to order breakfast to go (was running behind on time and needed to order asap) but there were no menus to look at. I took a seat and had to wait for about five minutes before anyone saw me and gave me a menu. I told her that I was ordering to-go and asked if I could have a water while I waited and then asked about the coffee menu (because I didnt see one, yet saw "coffee bar" on the menu). She told me that the coffee machine was broken but gave me a cup of black coffee anyway, which was nice. I got my food and took it to work. I ordered a pancake (glad I only got one because they are HUGE! - they should tell you this when you order or have it on the menu) with strawberries. The fruit is $2 extra so I thought it was be worth the $2, but there were hardly any strawberries on my pancake. I also ordered eggs, over-easy, but they were over-hard, very hard. They were fully cooked. I also ordered the side of potatoes, but she failed to tell me that the potatoes have cheese all over them! I had to throw them away, I cannot eat cheese. What a waste. They also had bell peppers on them. A waitress should ALWAYS know to tell someone if the item they ordered comes smothered in something else (if for some odd reason the menu doesnt list it) in case of an allergic reaction. Overall, it wasnt worth the $11 I paid for my breakfast and mediocre black coffee. When I looked up this place online, it had a coffee bar and "fresh pastries" so that is exactly why I went. Today is a my cheat day and I wanted a really good coffee and some pastries, instead I got a huge pancake I cannot finish (although it was good), overly cooked eggs, and potatoes that I could not eat because they had burnt bell peppers and cheese on them. Oh, and I never got my water while I was waiting (I asked twice).

My husband and I first frequented Sugarbaker’s when we lived in Corpus Christi. We stopped in for brunch and sparked up a conversation with the owner, Christian. We inquired about hiring Christian to bake our wedding cake, but the reception was going to take place 3 ½ hours away. Christian never once told me no or he couldn’t make something happen, even when I asked if he could provide churros. Christian and his wife were so awesome to work with!! The cake, churros and cookies came out amazing! In addition, the decorations were spot on, the cake was much bigger than expected and the price for it all was extremely reasonable. Thank you Sugarbaker’s for making our special day so dang tasty!! – Newly Williams

Definitely one of our towns hidden gems and a definite must stop for anyone who thinks there a foodie!!! The menu and the kitchens perfect execution of farm to fork has me crying it hasnt been covered by the local or greater media. ITS THAT GOOD!! . Its not in my neighborhood or within my commute but Ill even make a special trip just for a slice of theyre carrot cake, cookies, and the cannolis oh my Im salivating over them now as I write. So disappointed in myself I didnt make it over there today love having a few sweets at the house for Friday night movies..They are or should definitely be a star on your Google maps favorites list. Trust me its worth the trip down ole Santa Fe street.

I was in the neighborhood and the antique shop next door had mentioned this place to eat. When I walked into Sugarbakers I thought it was very quaint and smelled nice and sweet. We were greeted by the friendly staff and I ordered the bourbon banana walnut french toast and my husband the Belgian waffles. When my food arrived the smell was intoxicating and I took my first bite, without syrup and fell in love at first bite. It was by far the best french toast I ever had. We both had the iced coffee which was perfect and refreshing and took home some baked goods which are perfect. Will definitely return and I highly recommend going here! :)

The wedding cake we ordered was absolutely beautiful, the taste was okay the service was HORRIBLE. Ordering the cake as a bride should be a wonderful experiences but it was awful, the owner, who took our order was rude and hateful. She made us feel as she was doing us a favor....we paid well over a thousand dollars for this cake, we could at least be treated decently. If we you want a pretty cake that taste okay...but horrible service and very rude people waiting on you then this the place.

A little hidden treasure. In this world of fast food, take the time to stop and have something truly wonderful. Everything I have had, from the Iced coffee and French toast, to the fresh made Seared Beef tenderloin with red wine mushroom sauce is just excellent. You are likely to see the owner and Chef come out from time to time to make sure people are enjoying their food. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Corpus Christi!

The tomato basil was rich, the Russian Salmon Salad was sweet tangy and perfect, whats normally elsewhere a boring pasta salad was flavorfull and exciting, and the Blackened Ahi Tuna sandwich rocked!!! Corpus is in dire need of places like this! Keep it up Christian! Cant wait to come back and try the rest if the menu!

We came in on a Friday morning for lunch. Service was good and food was quick, but lacked some flavor. It was better last time we came to eat. I had a pork hash breakfast plate and my husband had the Mediterranean chicken salad sandwich with potato salad.

Excellent choice of foods. Everything from Seared Tuna to Ruebens to Lasagna to real salads and soups, homemade dressings, desserts..... Plus they are one of the few restraunts that actually has real half and half instead of fake creamer!

Good meal. Very disappointed with the bakery goods. They were expensive and got hard and tasteless. I so looked forward to the sticky bun that appeared larger under the glass and got very hard as did the other pastry.

Love sugarbakers. Was recommended to me by a friend. Lots of menu choices and their pasta salad is wonderful. Croissants and other sandwiches are good along with the Poblano soup! Cookies are delicious also!

One of those "hole in the wall" secrets you have to try! Upscale food prepared fresh by chef. Expect a wait, food is fresh - not frozen. Family owed restaurant with a cult following. Price $$$
