its a BAR !its a Awesome BAR ! COLD CHEAP Beer on Tap in the Back, Cold Bottles in the Front. Greasest, great burgers you can have a pitcher of Shiner with. Opened in 1974 by the late Don Ganter, and known for setting the WORLD RECORD in 1982 (after the Aggies Beat rival texas university) for the Most Beer Consumed per SQUARE FOOT AREA. Its Crowded, its LOUD, and its a BAR.. yes, of COURSE its SLOW.. its college kids working there! Try the Tiajuana Fries and a DEATH BURGER (patty, tabasco AND Jalapenos) Carve your name in the table, so NEXT time your back, you can try and find it. AND, as a bonus, guys get to pee in a trough full of ICE! Its like writing your name in snow!!) Take it for what its worth, but next time you say you went to College Station, you CAN say, you Dined and Imbibed sufficiently at "The Chicken". During the Days, its Quiet, friendly and VERY LAID Back. Another plus when youre trying to have a Study Group with your buddies.. ) Whoop! OCA HOGS KROO CHEEF 94

This was the epitome of a bad experience. We stopped by here to get a bite to eat on our way out of town and everything about this restaurant seems designed to stress you out. You go from one crowded area ordering your food to another crowded area to get your drink and grab any minimal condiments you may want. Then you get to wait to get through a narrow opening to the dining area and wait for your food to be called out so that you can shoulder through another group of people to go get it. Mosh pits and diners are a bad combo. The food here is nothing special; and no where near as good as the price that they charge for it. On top of all of that they actually have the nerve to have a tip line on the bill at the register. I always tip well but if I knew that they didnt do anything for it I would have saved the money. This place makes me want to mark A&M off the list of possible schools for my kids.

I didnt even eat here. it was the first time for both my boyfriend and I to visit College Station. We knew we wanted to eat here from the beginning. We walked in and two guys were sitting on a bench. I thought they were customers. We were not greeted. They continued to have a conversation while we looked over the menu. Then they both went behind the counter, continuing their conversation. The cashier was very impatient. He provided one word answers for our questions (what would he recommend we eat, and what the Freddy was). I was ready to order and did not hear him ask me for my name and told him what I wanted. his reply to that was a dry repetition of his question regarding my name... so my boyfriend said no, and we were out of there. Experiencing the good praise and great food was definitely not worth his attitude. I really hope he isnt an Aggie either. He really doesnt deserve that title.

A staff that would make an inbred family of rednecks look like high society. Kids managing kids. They must love the opportunity to puff out their weak chests and ruin any possible fun to be had by a professional adult group. I walked out to take a business call and some prepubescent loser at the door wouldnt let me back in. I ask to speak to the manager and some bloated idiot comes out immediately stating that he is standing by his door man. He didnt even have the courtesy to speak with me. Also- the disgusting interior, tacky decor, and general lack of any sort of cleaning in this dump will keep me from ever returning. If you do find yourself in this unfortunate place make sure you dont have an American Express.. this cheap ass joint wont take them bc they dont want to pay Amex the fees.

Last night I went there without drinking ANYTHING. My friend was drunk and he opened the door for me. I was tripped on stairs cuz I was looking the other way at my friend. A guy at the door started pushing me out(I was about to be pushed down) and said that I was not allowed to get in because I was too drunk ( I was the only one who did not drink that night and also the only one get kicked out in my group) . This was fine, but when I talked with my friend outside and said that he might kicked me out because Im an Asian. That guy heard it and said Seth like "exactly" and "so what"?

I dont quite understand the rave over the fries here. Its just frozen fries covered in Kraft singles cheese. Other than that, there are some great deals for pitchers. The choices arent that great if you like any beer other than light american lagers. They do have 3-4 semi local beers on rotation. This place is also the "go to" place for the Corp of Cadets, which is not a bad thing as I hang out with a lot of the corp friends here. However as I know some peoples hatred of the Corp, its best to avoid if you have that predisposition.

This place is not only a good restaurant, it is a great place to hang out and have a good time! The atmosphere is really what I came for. They have pool tables, great music, and even a live rattlesnake on display in the back! It is always hopping on the weekends where the Chicken makes a great spot to hang out with friends and catch up, or just lay off the stresses of studying. As for the food, it is not even bad. I enjoy the burgers, but the soft-shell tacos and even chicken sticks are definitely worth the trip.

We hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner at the Dixie Chicken a couple weekends ago and I cannot express strongly enough how truly incredible the entire experience was. The staff was wonderful and went out of their way to help us with everything from setting up, to carting in and out equipment. They even created custom dinner menus for our guests! The food was wonderful and everyone had an amazing time. I will continue to recommend this place to everyone I know in the area! Thank you so much for the memories!!!

This is a place you must go if you are in College Station, TX! Its got an old-time feel, games (dominos & pool), 2 bars, a kitchen, & a a rattle snake. I usually just get a pitcher of beer with friends & play a game, or pick out cheese fries from the kitchen. However, one of the bartenders introduced me & my friends to a slushy cocktail. It was so good with a sufficient amount of alcohol! You can also sit outside. The bathrooms are small & kind of dirty, but seriously this bar/restaurant is a must!

Terrible cheaply made drinks. Granted my friend should have ordered beer and not a margarita at a country bar but the lack of knowledge the bartenders had was evident. The place itself is pretty cool. The layout is nice, 2 upstairs balconies with swings, hidden area downstairs to play darts, and lots of cornhole and seating outside. Its definitely a country dive bar so dont expect much.

Not a Place to go for dancing by any means but the burgers are absolutely great along with the Tiajuana Fries and summer sausage and cheese, if you are wanting to go to a bar to play some pool/42 or just hang out the chicken is the place, very friendly employees from what i have seen and on Texas A&M football gamedays you wont find a place more packed
