Had three sliders. Chicken W.A., Notorious P.I.G., Texas O.G. Also Twice cooked potatoes, and Bbq baked beans. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. My favorite of the three. The slaw and sauce complemented it nicely. However, I found myself wanting to eat them separately to enjoy the flavors of each individually. Great sandwich. Brisket was moist and not too fatty. A good cut. But typical brisket flavor. Pork was right up there, tender and tasty. I wished they sold meat by the pound. Only sandwiches here. Twice cooked potatoes, Im confused. Mashed once, then microwaved? I had a 1/4 teaspoon sized pocket of what appeared to be paprika in my serving. I stirred it in, but that ruined the dish for me. The baked beans are great. Happy that these are thick sauced! Nice change from the run-of-the-mill beans and liquid of most places. So why two stars? Service. Sat at the bar. The cashier (cant call this person a bartender) was just there. Not particularly bad, but definitely not good. Said that they have been working in this industry too long, for a 20something youve got a long road ahead of you. But the clincher is that there was a customer vaping at the bar. At first I thought he was sneaking when the cashier wasnt looking. Wrong - later he did it right in front of this person! Obviously friends get perks. There was a manager doing paperwork at a nearby table, but I guess the manager didnt see it. Way to ruin a pleasant experience. I wont be back.

Possibly the best barbecue sandwich joint you can get in North Austin. Thats not to belittle it in any way, but rather to point out how I love that theres a decent place to get a good hefty and tasty BBQ sandwich not far from my home now. All of their sandwiches are Texas sized to say the least. Get one large sandwich or get their 3 slider option. Choose the 3 sliders to try more in one sitting but be warned that itll amass about 50% more food than just a normal sandwich. I made that mistake once and had to finish all three tasty sliders in one sitting. I succeeded... but at what cost? Answer: food coma. Ill definitely go back to try all of their options, but their El Jefe seemed to be my favorite. Their sides are a hit and miss depending on your taste. Their twice baked potato casserole was velvety, but lacked a touch of spice. Their baked BBQ beans were tasty, but a little dry for my taste. Their green bean casserole hit dead center for me though and their mustard based coleslaw was great in a sandwich.

This review is going to be in a story format. My new roommate had his parents from Colorado down to help him move in and they wanted some BBQ. I googled spots near our house and I picked out SLAB, as it had great reviews. Within a minute of arriving, one of the co-owners (his name escapes me, something like Chip?) walked up to us with a warm welcome and helped my roommates parents navigate the menu. The food comes out and its amazing, he comes over to make sure everything is tasting great. I asked about happy hours, so he clues me in on half priced rib Tuesdays, and talks up how popular the night has grown to be. Im already sold, but then he emerges from the kitchen with complimentary ribs for the whole table to split to make sure were convinced. THEY WERE AMAZING, some of the best ribs Ive had in Austin. SLAB deserves your business purely based off of customer service, it helps that the food is spectacular as well. Ill be back, soon.

I went on a Friday night since they were featuring a local beer I like during happy hour. Happy hour runs from 4 until close, which is definitely a plus. They have a good selection of locals on tap, as well as cans and bottles. The menu contains their classic sandwiches or you can choose to custom one, adding toppings or their dope toppings. They also have meats and different sauces to choose from. I went for their original classic, the Notorious P.I.G. It was a smoked pulled pork with house-made mustard slaw and Barnyard Red BBQ sauce. What arrived was this huge sandwich. I did not think I would eat all of it, but it was so good, Wednesday night is Family Night and kids 12 and under eat free. They have various food and beer specials during the week. (Check their social media). I definitely will be back to try more of their menu.

Gangsta BBQ. I love their slogan, "Slow, Low and Bangin", their music is old school hip/hop and I love all of their puns on the walls, napkin holders, etc. Not your traditional Texas BBQ. They offer a variety of sandwiches with lots of toppings. They only offer a small selection of sides, I wish they had a bigger variety. They do have these nachoes, which are massive. They are delicious but too much nacho chip to meat/cheese ratio. I LOVE that they have different BBQ sauces, that is my favorite part. They have the classic BBQ, a Carolina vinegar/mustard style one, a mayo one, hot BBQ. I love the Carolina and mayo one-probably because you cant really get that anywhere else in Texas. Totally underrated BBQ place here in Austin, its definitely in my top 3.

Easy-going, down-home, and laid-back. SLAB is all about dem hyphenated adjectives. From the moment you walk in and see the record-shaped menus in line, until you eventually leave, stuffed to the brim with pulled pork and a delicious hot yellow BBQ sauce called "Gold Rush," SLAB fills you with the sense that this place was inspired by someones real-life, home-cooked experiences. It could have been a little less brightly lit, and the large groups were encouraged to be larger and louder thanks to extended tables. But all in all, this is definitely a place to let out some belt loops and take in Austin. Pro-tip: the pickles are fabulous. Get them on everything.

If home-style BBQ to you means big tender portions of slow & low meat on soft bread drenched in smoky sweet barbecue sauce, then this is the place for you. The meat is all cooked well, and the "sammich" combos (such as the Cuban-inspired "Tony Montana") are clever and tasty. Dont expect any typical BBQ plates, with sauce on the side and a selection of sides, because they arent on the menu here. Sides are a là carte, and not really big enough to share, so either bring extra cash or a small appetite. Ill come back again, though. There are a few local brews on tap, and theres plenty of parking. Next time, Ill add on some nachos and a couple extra sides.

We had Slab BBQ bring a food truck to cater our Grand Opening. The food was awesome, so said all of our guests too! Tons of compliments! It worked out great and made the whole affair a more "Austin" experience. They parked in the middle of our warehouse. Really too cool! They were on time, gave great service. Event time was noon-2 so it worked out so well for the staggered arrival times of our attendees. We chose the Notorious P.I.G., Texas O.G. and Chicken W.A. with Twice Cooked Potato Casserole for a side. Sodas and water. I mean, it doesnt get any easier than that! Cant wait to use them again!

I absolutely love this place. I eat it at least once a week. Tony Montana is my fav but everything on the menu hits the spot. This place definitely brings some new flavor to the game and made me excited about bbq again. Ive been to enough places trying to be the best at traditional bbq. The prices are totally reasonable and everyone who works there is on point. Ive never had my food take forever, the wrong order given to me, or anything negative like that. Its one of my favorite spots in Austin and it continues to always impress in food and service.
